Very nice post thank you Mat. Funny to me these old clips that describe at length the styling details of the exterior as if the viewer of the car is blind.
Boy did/do I hate that grille. But I really dont at the same time, its just in this informational showcase still photo form that it looks particularly garish, but compared to a 2020 Hyundai or Tesla, miles more elegant, charming, and perfect.
Packard should NEVER have built the brand killer 200. It was OK as a Clipper, but not OK as a Packard. They figured it out by 53, but that was a significant 2 year damage. The Mercury'-Lincoln business model was very good for the Packard problem of mass production. It would have succeeded in separate bodies in 57 had the financing come thru.
