A much simple formula for co efficient of karl pearson’s method is cov(x,y)/root of v(x) and root of v(y) where cov(x,y) = submission xy / n - x bar y bar.

submission x = 80, y= 100 mean of x = 16,y=20 submission(x-x bar)(y- y bar) = 84 submission(x-x bar) square = 118, submission(y - y bar ) square = 80 according to formula : 84 / square root of 118 * square root of 80 = 84/10.86 * 8.94 = 84 / 97.088 ans = 0.865

r = 0.86455 or r =0.863(rounded to three decimal places)
