I bout an old boat. She's a 1971 21' Aquarius. She's considered a "trailer sailor" or a "swing keel" because the centerboard swings up into the boat so it can be sailed in very shallow water (as deep as 6") and trailered easily.
This boat (yet unnamed) needs everything done to her - top, bottom, sides, insides, and motor.
I'm learning as I go and thought I'd take you along to help you learn from my mistakes.

I have a lot of footage shot. I’ll get the next step of this process posted ASAP.

The interior of my '71 A21 was all rotted like that too! I did the same thing you did and gutted the entire interior and smoothed off all the fiberglass ridges left behind. Then, I coated the interior with several coats of a waterproof sealant. Next, I'm planning on laying down indoor/outdoor carpet throughout. 😂

So, you will not have any furniture in the cabin?

@@GlennJohnson1 I contemplated rebuilding the furniture. But I love how much larger and open the cabin feels now. I plan on building an oval/oblong table atop the CB housing, then seeing where it goes from there.

I’m toying with the carpet idea too. I’d like to hear what you think of it when you’re done .

I like that idea.

Yea, that's "Iron Sickness" that eating and discoloring the wood. Much of it is likely cause by iron-based hardware like ferris-based nails and such. "Iron Sickness" which is both a chemical reaction and biological infection (so to speak) that disintegrates the wood. You find any rusted metal in the wood, that's the likely source. Always try and use bronze, stainless or brass (if loads aren't required for the brass). Galvanized if you have to, but even galvanized will fail eventually. Glad you got a project boat and have fun working it. Following along.

I had never heard of it at the time. But, because of this I’ll build my new furniture without fittings.
