I built a Nissa Who Shakes the World deck a while back, and it's a lot of fun with Nissa's Triumph as the signature spell. It costs two green, so you can immediately cast it the turn she hits the field, since she untaps a forest with her +1, and use that to grab the tron lands. And as long as you're playing cards like Azusa, Exploration, etc youll have tron out real fast. Glad to see Oathbreaker get mentioned. I wish wizards wouldn't have desparked a bunch of walkers recently because now the format's gonna have an even harder time. I feel like it would be a lot bigger if we had more planeswalkers to build around.

this was a good and informative video. even when i play this format since 201 and it was become abit quiet in the last years, i still looking into those OB, and hope this format get more popular.

I'm going to build some Oathbreaker decks, hoping to get my friends into the format. So they can borrow the decks if they agree to play and get a real taste for it.

As a casual newbie, this format looks fun as hell - though personally I would allow the use of legendary creatures as well as planeswalkers to increase the diversity. Kinda makes me want to build a cube around drafting in this format. Also, good for you, being polite to the trolls!

I have a question about the format. If you choose a spell that cares about the amount of mana you spend to cast it (Such as Memory Deluge) as your signature spell, will the signature spell tax be counted as the amount of mana you spent or will it be ignored by the effect.

Oathbreaker is so much more fun than commander. 1. It is action from the first round on. No "lets all ramp the first few turns and do all the same shit". 2. Aggro is viable. 3. Games are much shorter. That leads to much less toxicity when someone dies in the early stages of the game and has to wait hours for a new start in EDH. I personally dont enjoy the 3-4 hour suffer games in EDH. 4. Powerlevels arent that important. In Commander you have to carefully choose decks that fit each other to have good games in my opinion. In OB (we play the format for over a year now) we veeeery rarely switch decks cause they dont fit each other. 5. Oathbreaker is muuuuch cheaper. Fetchlands and shocks arent powerful in the format due to the much lower life totals. Also cards that arent good in commander can be staples in OB and at the same time budget. For example lightning bolt (one of the strongest cards in the format. 6. Signature spell. With a spell in the command zone you can go in many different directions with your deck (similar to partner commanders) In my opinion Oathbreaker is what EDH should be like

Oathbreaker is really fun(except high power OB), sadly there are few people realize this fact😢

Thought experiment for oathbreaker fans: if you could design oathbreaker as a board game like battle box, which planeswalkers/strategies would you use to build (let’s say 4 or 5) decks on a budget? Maybe each colour? Maybe theme around a set? Very curious on anyone’s thoughts!
