Imagine a plan to make sure the interests of people and nature are taken into careful consideration in all decisions; where no one is left behind and we transition together to a healthier, fairer society.
Extinction Rebellion UK rebels will be working in their local communities with their friends, neighbours, community groups, local charities, NGOs and campaign groups to run community assemblies to influence decision making on local issues.
But there is more!
Groups will be paying coordinated visits to their MPs to tell them about deliberative democracy and how we want them to take it to Westminster for us.
Groups will be occupying councils unwilling to listen to the people and put the needs of the community over personal gain and profit.
The vision is that over the next months, dozens of government authority buildings will be occupied all over the country with the simple demand to follow the recommendations of their local community assembly on important issues.
And in the end, we will have build a strong, trusting, united movement consisting of many voices and many groups, that will take the streets once more to demand from Westminster that they finally commission a Citizens' Assembly on Climate and Ecological Justice to ensure we get the fair and urgent long-term solutions we need.
