Hi there, I see the violin morphing and am interested, could I make a song, phrase or just single note played by bad sounding VSTi/Kontakt, sounding good, using your tool? How I see it could be done: I teach your model with excelent recordings (violin, trumpet...you name it) and then apply it to my bad VSTi/Kontakt sounds... i that real?
That’s a very interesting idea, but I’d be hesitant to recommend Morpho for this purpose. Morpho works best as a texture machine to supplement other sounds, or create “hybrid” sounds that are somewhere between the input sound and the model’s training data. It prioritises timbre over realism or pitch accuracy, which I imagine would be critical in your proposed use case. Of course, as you saw from the sax -> violin example, it is possible to convert simple phrases. As an alternative suggestion, consider how composers often blend different string libraries to create a richer sound. You could use Morpho to do the same thing, by blending a dull violin VST with the Morpho violin model. By all means feel free to download the free version and have a play!
As for the ethically sourced bit, i really dont like the fact that people in the ai space keep pushing this "ethically sourced" narrative. Training isnt unethical just because its done with math and code rather than by "human". its just enlightened luddism to me. So you're basically telling me a product like your sample to midi ai shouldnt exist if it meant training an ai with videos and recordings of "copyrighted" work from youtube or elsewhere? thats just bizzare to think only people who can learn to play the piano through watching the same youtube videos should get to be able to convert any song they hear to a midi. i am african and most of these ai resources will completely help us level up with western entertainment. i dont see none of you bragging about having "ethically sourced" raw materials in your laptops, ai will help us bridge the gap western consumerism has wreaked on our continent, so stop pushing that ethically sourced bs, ai training is NOT unethical.
Don't blamr the west for what some african countries decided to do. There is still dictators in many countries in africa. Maybe taje care of that aspect first? Anyways,most african countries vel9ng to china at this point. Good luck🤙🏽
