Currently I haven't got that many times to do a full tutorial, maybe I can share a short demo clip or two. I'll consider creating a demo about those topics in the future.

Hey, how do you have a bump map that can apply a cut through the layers you are using? I have a mask layer I want as a cut out but it only works on one layer [with the color turned off]. (I'm trying to make a transparent layer a mask of a Solid Color, though it's not showing up as a cutout like the mask should do).

@@ucupumar It's ok, I'm going to take care of it a different way, I just have to export it and edit it then re-import. It's the long way around be at least I won't break anything else, I messed up the normal's trying to figure stuff out in engine.

Hello, the tutorial explains it a bit complicated so that you can follow exactly. Otherwise a great add-on and a good tutorial.

Is there a way to bake textures of different models into a single image if they all share the same uv map

Yes, if they also share the same material. Ucupaint baking works on material basis, so it will search for all objects that use the same material and then bake them.

You can use any brush that works with texture/vertex paint mode

Make sure your model is unwrapped properly, your viewport should be on material view, you already created one image layer, and you're in texture paint mode

Hello! I downloaded and I started using it and it's pretty great but was wondering about one particular thing: When I draw/texture ON the model the uv map doesn't actualize to show what I painted, it only shows on both when I paint on the uv map instead of the model. Wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong or I forgot to set something?

Thank you for the kind words! Vertex painting in blender is still a bit lacking though, like the smear is not working correctly with alpha channel on sculpt paint mode.

wait, I just realized it's already fixed on blender 4.2, but not in blender 4.1. You should use blender 4.2 if you want to fully replace zbrush polypaint, hehe

For exporting textures into something like Unity (using URP or HDRP) is there any-way to invert textures and also channel pack images? For example on Unity URP, the Roughness would be inverted (Unity calls it "Smoothness") and it should be packed as the Alpha of the Metallic texture. Is this possible?

Sorry for the late reply. Currently bake result channel packing is not available on ucupaint and I already write it as an issue in github. Please use different addon that can do that in the meanwhile.

This is the best pbr texture painting addon! Bpainter? pbr painter? materializer? mask tools? I've used all kinds of similar addons. IMO Ucupaint is the only and the best addon. Amazing!

Feature request- 1. option while baking maps; pack roughness, metallic and specular/reflection into single image using rgb channel and connect them to respective socket to save texture memory. Name this map- RnMtSp map 2. UDIM support for high-res paint.

1. Bake channel packing is still on to do list (EDIT: It's already implemented in 1.2) 2. Ucupaint is already support UDIM, if your any of your UV islands is located than the usual 0..1 range, it will automatically use UDIM when you create new layer/mask

When painting with ucupaint layers w mask, what causes discolorations? I painted with a light blue color and certain faces are becoming Dark blue. I checked the face orientation and that is not the issue. What else can it be ?

Does the way the paint is layed out on the baked texture match your UV unwrap. If using texture for older game engine, where a single texture is needed, can it all.be exported to a single texture from the addon settings?

I think it probably depends on your exporters, ucupaint will use whatever uv you input when you bake the channels.

There's no fundamental difference between mask image or layer image. Maybe you set the resolution too low or the uvmap isn't unwrapped properly

Ucupaint uses Blender's standard brush system, please search for other tutorials to set up brush textures in Blender.

I absolutely love this addon and I can't imagine using blender without it. I cannot thank you enough for putting this out here for everyone to use. I do have one question though. On one of my models I already have a baked normal map from a high poly mesh, but Id like to hand paint some normal details (The coolest feature ever btw) but when I check the normal tick box, my baked normal map changes and doesn't look good anymore. Is there any way to have the normal bake texture and use the hand painted normal feature as well? I assume I could fix this in the shader editor but Im not very knowledgeable with shaders. Thank you again for this addon!

Makasih mas, hehe! There's no support for psd export in ucupaint and I have no plan for implementing it, but since it's an open source project, I'm open if anyone want to implement it 🙏

@@ucupumar How to adjust the procedural texture values? for example when i add the voronoi texture i don't know to change the size, details, lacuranity etc. Should it be done manually inside the node? But i got the warning not to change anything manually

@@johantri You can expand some of the UI, try to click on some icons that have small triangles in them. The voronoi UI is inside one of them.

Currently no and I have no idea to implement those thing, but ucupaint is open source, so I'm open for anyone to add those feature.

Baking is still the same, custom bake target is just an addition if you want to create images that contain various channels inside its RGB channels. There are some template that you can already use like ORM, which GLTF format uses. Those textures will be baked automatically alongside the usual 'bake all channels' operator.

Please check your image resolution and uv map. The image resolution may be too low, or the uv map isn't properly unwrapped.

WOW! I'm amazed to see most of the basic and even some advanced features of Substance Painter in this addon, and more amazed yet to know that it's actually free under GNU-GPL! Thank you 🙏 for making this and sharing with the community, I'm eager to test its performance and workflow so I can start recommending it instead of SubsP and simmilar ; )

Thank you for the nice words! The upcoming Ucupaint 2.0 actually has better performance than the 1.2.x. I'll release the addon soon, hopefully before Blender 4.2 comes out.

This looks extremely useful for people who like to get a nice base image to drool all over in their image editor of choice, then come back and toy with the results in the 3D editor some more. 🧐🧐🧐

I am experiencing that every time I add a layer in solid mode the mesh turns transparent, instead of showing the coloring on top of each other. Is this suppose to happen? Couse I remember that in an earlier version that the different layers showed up in solid mode. It always works that way. Ucupaint is designed for material view, so you probably should use that one instead.

Oh, i just realized you're not on texture paint mode, you should set your solid view to not show the texture, but the material color instead

@@ucupumar Changed texture to material in solid mode, and it helped. But I am quite curious, the coloring on the layers never shows up at the same time even though they are both enabled, only when they are selected separately. So I dont get the same result as shown at 3:48, might this be a fault from my side?

Mantab. Is it possible to mix the ucu paint nodes with my procedural node? I once use Layer Painter add-on. When i tried to mix the Layer Painter nodes with my own procedural nodes, it becomes broken.

Yes, ucupaint is designed to be flexible to your workflow. Just connect your nodes to the input of ucupaint node or use the outputs of ucupaint node to your procedural nodes.

I think that's out of the scope of this addon. You can use blender's own palette system for that.
