Really can't wait to start using the water cooled torch I got with my everlast tig welder. I've never used a water cooled torch before.

how do you like that Everlast 200dx tig welder?

We really like the 200DX. We use it in quite a few of our videos, because it is easy to use and performs well. The price is also right for the home hobbyist and Weekend Warrior guys.

I just received a water cooled tig torch, QC brand by esab, 20 size, flex head with a valve. i'm trying to hook it up to my 2015 AHP alphatig. Everything is hooked up, but gas will not feed through the torch, even when the valve is open. if I put compressed air into the gas inlet, it does not blow out the torch, but rather, it blows out one of the coolant lines backwards. Question is: do you have to be running coolant in a liquid cooled torch for the gas to flow? and if so, why? Other wise, if not, why might that brand new torch not let gas flow into the cup, but rather, down the coolant line? Id be very grateful for your help!!

The other advantage to tig welding is the amount of grinding required. Something I learned was that a significant amount of distortion can occurr from grinding the welds, overheating the panel. So a tig welded bead will require minimal grinding and therefore allow for less change of panel distortion.

The air cooled torch used in this episode is the CK9 Flex Head torch. You can purchase the kit we use in this episode at tigdepot.net

I would say for the hobbyist, the air cool would more or do most of your jobs, when your doing it all day as a full time job, water cooled, You don't want to cook your hands and get things like copal tunnel happening. cramping. some things will become permeant when your old. like numbness, arthritis of aching and paining - relax your never a slave.

Wyatt How does the Everlast 200dx compares to the Miller 200dx I'm sure the everlast is less expensive but which is more durable over a period of 3 years thx art

Unless you plan on putting it on an assembly line and running it non stop, the Everlast will hold up just fine. The difference is the Duty cycle, but for doing projects in the garage it won't have any problems.

I have a 300A machine and a 130A rated tig torch... I think I need todo something about it.
@Welddotcom

You can still use it for the time being. Just make sure to do the math and de-rate your torches duty cycle to meet the amperage you are using.

Hey - spot the " Tig Finger " - nice one Wyatt - glad to see you helping Jody out ! good video - been tempted to go water cooled - torches & parts are easy but the coolers just seem expensive - how come the Chinese don't sell them ?

We've actually got an episode reviewing the TIG finger coming up soon. Always fun when we can help out our fellow RU-vidrs. Everlast actually does make a water cooler: tigdepot.net

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PKCE7KlBzj4.html shows you how to convert air cooled torch to manual water cooled torch, takes about 5 minutes and works great.
