Right?? It comes off as so rude and standoffish and anti-social. I’m like “lady!!!! Stop forcing me to talk to you! You didn’t even ask me if I wanted to! You didn’t even consider that maybe I liked my thoughts better than being forced to answer your fluffy, uncreative questions!”
You said it! I HATE being forced into small talk too. It’s the absolute worst when it’s a person you just met and you have no interest in having what feels like a “fake” conversation- and you’re in a space where you can’t duck out of it.
Thanks for sharing! I've gone down the rabbit hole of Flight Attendant vlogs, because I just applied to be a FA for a major airline. I identify as an introvert, but oddly I'm always attracted to jobs that lean extrovert. For example, I'm current a freelancer in Event Production. It's nice to see a FA that's an introverts. Gives me hope. 😊

Hi Kaelan I work on the commercial side. You might be surprised to learn a lot of us flight attendants are really introverts. That doesn't mean we can't talk to hundreds of people each day- it just means it takes a lot out of us. You will need more days holed up in your house after a flight than an extrovert would. Totally agree. I guess you call me more of a loner. I don't like the drama most people get into. The longer they talk the worst things get. I was at my job six months and they knew little about me. But If you open up a little than they will fire questions like a freaking machine gun,😫
Nice job and I can definitely relate! I can't tell you how many times I've just been very focused and people think I'm mad and mean because I'm not making small talk.
Thanks for this video, Caitlin. It’s hard to be an introvert that stimulated by adventure and other industries that draw a lot of extroverts. Many times I feel very out of place because it seems like everyone is an extrovert and I don’t belong in that crowd because everyone is so happy and loud and talkative- I’m just there because the content and purpose of the event is something that interests me.
I wish I could say to extroverts that just “met” me and start making small talk with me out of the blue, “it’s not my fault that in order for you to feel happy you need to put your agenda of having a superficial conversation on the nearest bystander-and that today that person is me. Just because you’re energized by talking and many times dependent on another person’s reciprocation doesn’t mean you SHOULD demand that person’s energy. Next time, please think about the possibility that the person you’re trying to talk to is someone who likes peace and quiet or to be in their own thoughts, instead of being asked to talk to someone they don’t know about something that’s unimportant.” Forcing small talk on an introvert literally feels like it’s an energy vampire sucking the life force and positive energy from an unwilling bystander.

hello im a Korean college student whos dreaming of becoming an international flight attendant. I finally got my first part time job at 21 a few days ago. I already have lots of concerns about this part time job which is a very small scale of work place and not complicated compared to a flight attendant job so I wonder if i could ever become a flight attendant being this anxious. I want to overcome this but i actually dont know how. Do you have any tips?
😩I think Talking makes introverts tired when the person doesn't know how to conversate. Good conversation works when two people talks together. Not dominating conversation 😪
Will you marry me? LOL Because you TOTALLY understand my frustration with dealing with extroverts. That's why I had to leave Corporate America. I just couldn't take it anymore.
