How do you relate to Si?
@nobodynowhere21
@nobodynowhere21 3 года назад
INFP. Si makes me feel like the sun itself has burnt out. That warmth and light, and even forever itself, has been extinguished eternally. The joy of imagination is brutally castrated by the unhealthy Si dominant. Insufferably boring and tedious. All that being said, literally nothing would ever get done without them. So you got to love them :) seriously though, I was married to a ISFJ nurse for 7 years and I know there is tremendous value to this function. But it can be draining.

INTJ, so very badly LOL There are entire decades of my life I don't remember and as I get older, I forget even more.

Si also creates a sense of nostalgia and sentimentality in the tertiary position. ☆INFP☆

for me, an intp, your explanation on tert Si was spot on. i use Si as a feeling of comfort, while it's not naturally my go-to function. when looping, i tend to stop trying new things and seeking new ideas and keep doing or thinking the same things over and over again. when i have to use it too much, it stresses me out and i need to zone out and go back to my Ne. "intps like variety in the mental world but consistency in the physical world"

This is so spot on for the personality types I know and the people I know with certain personality types. I can totally see how I use si like a child as an intp and I totally use it when I'm in a more relaxed environment, often on a nature walk is when my si comes out.

Ok. I use Si to look back at my liked songs of my old playlists and feel nostalgic by the picture of the song but not actually hear it. When I have to remember a lot of things that are very detailed it can also be draining. Si for tertiary can be fun but also draining when used excessively.

This video has been eye opening for me. It's the first time I feel like I start to understand how and why I use Si critic as an ISTP. Si always seemed so foreign to me. And I was under the impression that the critic function only works in a self critical way. But realizing that it's Si when I get annoyed with people who repeatedly make the same mistake or use devices etc. the „wrong“ way after I explained to them how something works it makes so much sense now.

Ive noticed that the ESxJs I work with are often using their Si in an outward way- if that makes sense. My ESFJ and ESTJ coworkers are adjacent to me and they are always trying to use their past experience to solve problems for other people and are less intense about it than the ISFJ office manager. Si doms will get lost in their stories and know just about any process related since they really take responsibility for their place of work. The ESxJs are usually less involved in telling a story the same way every time, and will tell you a story but will let you interrupt etc, and share the moment with you. Also, I noticed the the ISxJs will literally use their physical things until they don't work anymore or someone forces the change on them. My office manager has a password sheet that had literally mo space left on it and its curled up and shredded and she still keeps it. The ESxJs will really keep their things looking nice but will upgrade if they think its a positive thing to do or it will impact the general experiences. My ESTJ aunt will keep her things looking good and stored well and my ISTJ uncle will literally patch his boat upholstery by hand and not give two shits about how it looks 😂

As an INxJ, I cannot handle details - gives me a headache and nauseates me even if I genuinely try to focus on it. Makes me physically ill.

When you have to memorise a lot of details for Si heavy school subjects: pain.

Ok. Intp here I use Si to look back at my liked songs of my old playlists and feel nostalgic by the picture of the song but not actually hear it. When I have to remember a lot of things that are very detailed it can also be draining. Si for tertiary can be fun but also draining when used excessively. I still cannot relate to my Istj teacher who uses it so much. I think Si doms is unfair when it comes to education cuz they can remember so well. My tertiary Si is very undeveloped and i already see my infp friend using it and it’s unfair. Those with good Si have an advantage in school. Unfair. I am so bad at remembering details that I just look at the big picture of things. Also, how does trickster Se work in intp? I would notice myself bumbing into objects and walls cuz my Se is bad. Something clicked in my head and I suddenly remember I misplaced something. I don’t like my trickster Se. I don’t even need people to tell me I’m bad at it cuz I already know I’m so bad at it.

My INTJ sister seems to remember only the worst parts of her childhood... all the people who bullied her and all the mistakes my parents made regarding her upbringing, according to her. She sees the past as the enemy, literally. As an INTP, I find that Si tertiary function makes me get fixated sometimes with small details. I usually focus on the big picture of things, but after I've come to a sufficient understanding, I tend to experiment and waste a lot of time changing small variables to see if they change my overall understanding of an idea or theory. Although I'm not sure if this is Si related or if it's just Ti. Also, sometimes when I'm a little down I tend to go back to reading books or rewatching shows I like, even though my mind usually doesn't focus on what I'm watching, but it calms me down. Sometimes I am also a bit melancholic.

I get dazed around too much Si. That brings up the point that the functions in a social environment are additive. If there are lots of Si’s it has cumulative effect.
@kinderlich
@kinderlich 4 года назад
And (... since I’m left handed I notice) the left handed Si’s have more Si! I had junior high school left handed istj friend who put...everyone in a daze.
@kinderlich
@kinderlich 4 года назад
... also Si partially conscious can have extremely strange effects. Carl Jung refers to this as ‘cryptoamnesia’ its when you are recalling something from memory but are unaware. You think you are creating the thought internally. Infp’s have this and it turns them into plagiarists :( !
