Wow, it sort of looks like the egg got cracked, but I guess it's just a piece of nesting material across it. I tried pausing the video to see what kind of bird it was that was attacking the nest, but it was too hard to tell. Anyway, I probably wouldn't have known if I could have seen it. I'm enjoying keeping in touch with these birds and their progeny from the Central Valley. :)
I managed to stop it at :18 and could see its face. You could be right, although I didn't know owl's beaks poked out that much, but then I'm no expert. I also didn't know owls went after bird eggs. I thought they liked mice and stuff.
