Invader Zim - Door to Door (Banned 9/11 scene/Edited scene) 

Fun Fact of today,the cut edition was LESS violent than the current one.

For those unaware: this scene was animated and ready for air when the 9/11 attacks happened, Nick had them hastily re-animate the shot of the city in ruins, but they accidentally put in the tape for the original version when it aired.

I think the little girl being kidnapped was more disturbing.

FCC 2001: you can't show buildings being blown up by aliens, but life enslavement is ah okay and is less traumatizing.

What makes this genuinely unnerving is that the alternate reality depicted in the VR is just a standard Irken Invasion. We're seeing what they're already doing all over the rest of the universe *and* what Zim's ultimate end goals are.

I never quite understood what Zim's goal was. Was it destroying the earth, destroying humans or enslaving humans?

Just an FYI: The banned virsion of the episode contained Images that shows the attack was at New York. This was first aired in 2001, so yes. This episode was told to be re-animated due to the fact that people were suffering from loss of people that they loved or cared about. This may not show the twin towers, but it does show the statue of liberty in the ocean, the place where the twin towers once stood and people screaming and running all in panic because of "planes" flying overhead and destroying New York City.

It’s a miracle that this was taped and saved for future historic reference. Did it really only air once?!

*"All that you know and love lies in ruins."* that line never sat well with me. Always sent chills down my spine. Especially given the context and coincidence of the scene.

According to the commentary the two kids eating a pile of sausages at the start of the scene were originally eating roaches. But it was deemed too gross and never even made it past the story board. The whole thing was doomed to bother somebody. (Dooooooooomed)

And that was the last time anyone EVER left Zim in charge of advertisement.

They added in a whole different scene that made the new clip longer. I actually find that very interesting cause most incidents like this they would cut the offending clip altogether, or make background edits. Instead they animated an entirely different segement that frankly I think better matches the overall oddity of the sequence and the show in general.

I just feel bad for the little girl who gets her doll eaten. :(

Are there actually any Invader Zim fans here or just this new Netflix thing? To those wondering what Zims goal was: Zim wasn't supposed to be a part of anything. He was banished to Foodcourtia for he's actions during Operation Impending Doom 1. When he hears news of Operation Impending Doom 2, he quits being banished and shows up for an assignment. The Almighty tallest seize the opportunity to get rid of Zim and send him to a "Mystery" planet, which is a question mark on a post-it note on the side of their screen. They assume they have just sent him into deep space and are finally rid of him, but Zim accidentally finds planet Earth, much to the horror of the Tallest. The whole point of each selected Irken warrior is to find weaknesses or weaken planets defenses so the Armarda can take over/enslave them, but Zim is so utterly useless he spends most of his time fighting with Dib

I saw the original version via an Australian video download of the episode (Since it was aired unedited) and I wasn't offended because I knew the difference between real and fake. I found it ironic that when Nick was supposed aired the episode with the edit version, they aired it with the original scene instead.

They added VR before it was cool.

An edit of both together would be awesome. I like the Beach pan into the city, but I also like the capture and enslavement scene. Even edited, Invader Zim has cools scenes in it.

I Heard That This Episode & It's Sister Episode "FBI Warning Of Doom" Were Originally Gonna Premiere On September 14, 2001. However, The Banned Version Of This Episode Was A Reference To The September 11 Attacks Since It Happened 3 Days Before The Episodes' Planned Airdate (September 14, 2001). They Went On A Hiatus Until March 29, 2002. The Crew Thought Adding A Reference To The Attacks In The Invader Zim Universe Was Not A Good Idea. Even The Show's Creator Said He Liked The Edited Version More Then The Original Banned Scene.

A movie called skyfall was released a few years ago that had nothing but 9/11 symbolism and no one cared.

Never watched it on 2001. I was unconscious back then. I was just 2 yrs old. Cant remember shit tbh. First time I watched this clip. I'm pretty sure the reason Jhonen wanted it changed was because of the statue of liberty and he didn't want the city to be New York. The animation team re-did the scene, but then they aired the wrong version anyway. At least that's what he said in the episode commentary.

Honestly I think the left one is better than the right one. But damn this show was fucked, but everytime I see a scene in Invader Zim that's so messed up to society. I begin loving it even more

I remember at my mom's house she had a temporary cable subscription that expired but for a period of time we still got a little reception afterwards on certain channels. For some reason Nickelodeon came through, but with inverted colors, so that's how I ended up seeing the original broadcast version of this scene.

A lot of comments seem to believe that Nick aired the original version once on its American network and never again after that, but I highly doubt that. I guess it was seen in other countries but censored here (just like with the original version of "Just One Bite"), hence the Australian Nickelodeon watermark on the original cut.
