More like a Predator and an XCOM 2 Avatar. Heck, its melee weapon strikes as an omni blade from Mass Effect. The Avatars were also made by collecting the best DNA from humans, and this thing collects the fiercest warriors it encounters. I can't really see any Halo related traits based on its description.

@@DerekSlatonHorrorAuthor again, not saying it was that bad, but there were a lot of points where it seemed their training failed them. For instance- Why not try to pin the alien's arm when he swings down? It takes a lot less force to keep someone's arm down after an overhead seeing rather than stopping an attack coming at them. Instead, it seems like everyone just backed off whenever the alien did this, like he could produce shockwaves by hitting the ground with his blade. The heavy machine gun could have easily shredded through the crates, yet the soldier just stared dumbly at them even after being ordered to keep shooting. Given how much the alien seems to love fighting, a good soldier would ask themselves why he left behind a perfectly good rifle, not just decide to use it. Upon seeing the alien prioritizing a console over his wounds and fighting, a soldier would have shot the console to destroy it AND gain the alien's attention, not waste bullets on the shield. Like I said, it just seemed a lot of stupid things were done for no reason, opportunities that soldiers would capitalize on were flat out ignored.

These books aren't cheap to produce. Sorry that an ad break every 20 minutes or so is too much. Hope you find something out there you like
