They are not jellyfish, although they look like that, nor are they fish or plastic remains buried in the sand. Salps are small marine invertebrates with a transparent and gelatinous appearance.
They are being seen a lot this summer, both in the Mediterranean and the Cantabrian Sea. In the north it was not common to see them, but the increase in sea temperature has led them to invade the beaches of Cantabria, Asturias and the Basque Country.
