Hala scale can be controlled with warm water and a petroleum base product like dishwashing liquid it smothers m ..u can also hit m full throttle with a strong stream nozzle on a hose to knock off a majority then spray m with dishwashing liquid but u only use a few drops per gallon ...u can use the same method too deal with spider mites on stephanotice plants as well or white fly on banana leaves ..in all senerios bugs are seasonal and is only a control issue but not an eradication..it can spread down wind , Certain tools like sickles, pruners and pole saws can also spread bugs too other properties so all tools that are used on an infected plant, shrub or tree needs too be washed off and sprayed with rubbing alcohol too stop the spread too other places ....🤣👌💯I'm a gardening specialist for over 20 years and a journeyman roof for almost 10 years 😏🤙Aloha
If you run your finger under the leaf in an infected area and u feel its still sticky or tacky then re apply ...if u do the same of running your finger and its dry and flaky then u got m ...now u can hose it off....young deformed or twisted leaves are an easy visual that a bug is present ...there's chemicals u can get at BEI that does the same but u can only treat a few times before leaves start turning yellow and defoliating ..try natural products soaps is one and neem oil is another helpful tip...👌🤙✌

But their numbers are far greater than that and they still exist on every island to this day. Everyone else are the invasive ones.
