Invasive Joro Spiders Flourishing in Georgia

Arachnophobes, beware! An invasive species of spider has made its home in parts of Georgia. The Joro spider is native to East Asia, but it was first noticed in the U.S. in 2014. Entomologist Dr. Will Hudson from the University of Georgia is personally acquainted with the spiders and says not to worry. If you’re squeamish about creepy, crawly, long-legged things it may comfort you to know that the spiders won’t hurt you. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

The proper term is not "invasive" but "introduced" as there is no solid evidence of them being harmful to the environment at the moment. A lot of people have been mis categorizing them, and inside edition has done the same. The finger is to pointed at the video not the comment.

this isn't the logic. these spiders pose no harm to humans. that does not mean they pose no harm to other insects and spiders in the region. if a species is introduced somewhere, and doing so makes competition/predators for native species of insects/animals, the introduced species is invasive.
