The northern snakehead, aka “Frankenfish” is an invasive fish in New Jersey introduced to the region around 2008 This fast-growing and aggressive species continues to spread through tributaries of the Delaware river and it doesn't look like it will stop any time soon. l.nj.com/a8l266

I recently caught a snake head giant and I didn’t know they were invasive so I am currently hunting it right now
@outdoorsmendeh

With all these invasives creates revenue and taxes for the State. The rusty crawfish, northern snakehead, spotted lantern fly, emerald ash borer, purple loosstrife, Canada thistle and the list goes on and on sevenfold. It's a business not to eradicate them. The common carp has been here many years. Just saying the state throws funds from taxes at a problem that will not get fixed.

Yeah they’re invasive but they’re fun to catch. Gives us in NJ something to go out and find. My little sister hooked a nice one under the I 295 bridge in Bordentown crosswicks creek. Came up and whacked her chatterbait, jumped and spit the hook. Exciting fish

These townships in camden county poison the water to kill them but they keep it quiet. Take water samples in Collingwood. Oaklyn and Haddon township. Trying to make people kill a fish is unconditional. If i get a fine, I'm suing the state

The thing is, the damage that the wildlife agency is concerned about is not the kind of damage that happens overnight. It is subtle and slow and it could take many decades. Therefore, one cannot rightly say that they are not having any negative impact on the present native ecosystem. So, it is most certainly best to leave the decision-making to the experts who are educated and trained in this field and to follow the laws they've put in place. That's my personal feelings on the matter. I realize that anglers who enjoy releasing them will by no means do that. I didn't know that officials were taking the measures seen in this video. That's beautiful thing (for the bass and for the bass anglers and probably for other aspects of the natural habitat - but I wouldn't know. I'm not an expert).
@SD-wj9bv
@SD-wj9bv Год назад
They have already been here for a decade. The funny part is where I catch them I always catch my biggest bass in the same body of water. I don’t get why snakeheads get a bad rep when bass are not native to New Jersey. In jersey we have a native fish that went extinct that we haven’t even try to reintroduce. Longnose gars. I say let them go and greo
@NJtroutboss
@NJtroutboss Год назад
@SD-wj9bv indeed competition forces all species to fight and adapt. If the bass don't match the aggressive feeding they may not eat. Likewise the large Frye ball is easy picking if the snaleheads don't defend. At this point they're here forever imo. Nature will decide.

In New Jersey we always seem to have some form of animal we are wasting money upon to "eradicate this invasive species"......personally I think going down to a small lake full of huge nasty snake head that survive our nasty summer in shallow fresh water in north jersey and grow to be in the 5 pound range would be a Joy.....

They arent, the boomers were just scared of them and made them sound like actual demons. They get real quiet when you tell them that bass are not native to the environments that snakehead are in either. The ecosystems i've caught them in seem perfectly healthy 20 years after their introduction. Tons of solid bass and forage fish.
