You asked for suggestions of other Ladies in reefing that could be guests. Here's a few... Paula Carlson, Judy St. Leger, Alyssa Gabriel, Sally Jo Headlee, Karen Brittain, Hilary Jaffe, Brandi Leigh Kamp, Felicia McCauley, Amy King... 🙂 A few!
So much love for the Ladies Takeover! I love the guys too, but as a girl, I have a special place in my heart for the ladies 😊 I also thought that Sara made an important point when she said she tries not to assume malicious intent when the explanation is more likely ignorance. We should probably all strive to do that in all areas of life, we might just save ourselves a lot of trouble!
This is my first watch of “Reef Therapy: Ladies Take Over” and I love it! I’m passionate about my invertebrates, so this topic is one of my favorites. The hostesses are great and they know their stuff.
Was listening to one of the girls past episodes and you they were talking about wearing gloves etc. best gloves I have found are the really long ones used for cattle by the vets and farmers. Goes up to the shoulder. Have full dexterity feels like you aren’t even wearing any. And are disposable if need be. Would highly recommend them for safety and not putting bare hands in the tanks!
I do love the ladies episodes. Would love it if Sara could do a video (or even a full episode) of enrichment ideas that we could translate into our tanks to keep our various creatures engaged and entertained. The Easter egg idea was a really fun one!
I always enjoy opinionated talk with facts. Nice to hear the ladies in the background as I do my tank maintenance. Don’t listen to reef talk videos like before. However this is a hobby that will have me for life. I too can’t do one without the other when it comes to marine life. Love my fish and coral life.. inverts included 🤪 Great video ladies.
Would really love to see Ania from Gallery Aquatica in Australia join Ladies take over. As a great friend of Jakes, and also a marine biologist and store owner, I think she has a wealth of knowledge and an infectious fun personality, plus AUSTRALIA! where everything tries to kill you :)
Oddball personalities on fish is super real. I had a mccosker wrasse constantly bully my yellow and tomini tang all day long. That wrasse wanted to let me know that he was cut from a different cloth
I also had nothing but problems with my XR15 G6. I ended up junking it and bought 2 reefi extremes and ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!! customer support is second to none, responses to questions in minutes. I know this doesn't answer your questions but I hope it points you in a less frustrating direction for next time.
Mine did this as well but randomly stopped. They also will not recognize daylight savings time so I had to make a new program. My T5’s with timer have yet to have an issue. Just saying.
Enjoyed the conversation but way off topic for the majority of the time. At no point was there a discussion of "Why a strong cleanup crew is so important. Not what a great cleanup crew consists of or how to maintain it. Definitely, need more female perspective but maybe a moderator to keep to topic.
I dont dig these takeovers. One of the many reasons i dont regularly watch anymore. The 30 min segment with the ogs was the only one ive watched in a long time! This channel , imo was a “veteran ran show” its where u come to listen to the real deal no bs vets of the hobby. It was the diff between some influencer nuking his tank and or product reviews they send em for exposure and listening to jesus talk about how he made the universe. The “guests” and the host (nothing against remy) are for the most part amateur hour reefers. Not all the time but most of the time. Ive been in this for over 20 years, and im weary of taking anyones advice thats been in under 5 years. Doesnt mean they dont know what their talking about, but most of the time arent gonna teach a old dog new tricks. I suggest cleaning up these panels and getting to the real meat and potatoes of reefing. Its just another brs channel at this point talking about clean up crews. No hate, just my 2 cents. I solely rely on not known behemoths in the hobby and reefbum and truly anything sanjay, paletta, sprung, zhou, and a couple others put out for any real, cutting edge and hidden tips of the hobby. These episodes are just “filler” and seem to be geared towards only newbies. Adams would drop knowledge on here.. and i couldnt wait for his next episode!
No offense taken. I would sincerely love your input on the "not known behemoths" you speak of! Please reply back here or on the RB socials. I'm sure you can imagine what it's like to try to be everything to everybody. We have a wide range of hobbyists that consume our content. While these episodes may be considered "filler" to you, they could also be an eye opening experience for a new or intermediate hobbyist. These ladies have over 40 years of professional experience combined - they are no amateurs. Me? I've been called everything in the book at this point. lol. Having been in broadcast for over 20 years, you can imagine some of the things people have said to me. Each day I learn, as I hope anyone in the hobby would. With all of that said, we'd love to see your aquarium(s) and if you'd like - I think it'd be fun to have viewers like yourself on the show. Also know that this podcast is a work in progress and always will be. We're missing it's main player who can never be replaced, but know that we are doing our best to keep it going. ~Remy
