Question did this Baltimore Toll Bridge, actually carry Utility Telecommunications and Data Fibre Optic Cables and Utility (water, sweage, gas, and fuel) Pipes. Or were there any Underwatet Utility Cables and Pipes, running under the Baltimore Port and Harbour area, or under the Main Shipping Channel too? That may have been damaged, by this Marine Accident and Disaster, or by this Container Ship just dropping its anchors and dragging these anchors along the bottom too. In the hopes the dragging anchors, would slow down the forward motion of this Medium size Container Ship? However, by this Ccontainer Ship dropping and dragging its anchors, would cut up the muddy bottom of Baltimore Port and Harbour and the Main Shipping Channel,. So leaving deep scars across the muddy bottom, or leaving ploughed - furrows in the underwater bottom too. Along with anything the anchors came in contact with, would be filled along or dragged along the bottom and damaged too. So has a full underwater survey, using underwater and bottom mapping and side scanning Sonar and LIDAR systems? As well as with the use of underwater low light level digital cameras and thermal infrared digital cameras, plus with the use of MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detector) systems too. Either mounted on ROV's and AUV's, or on towed underwater vehicle systems too? Or using small survey boat's hull mounted underwater sensors, lights and underwater camera systems too? Or using Unmanned Reconnaissance Aerial Vehicles, mounted with above water looking underwater sensors too? Just to located the size of the debris field, from the fallen bridge and damadged container ship wreckage too? Which could be much larger than many may think, with underwater down and up stream or cross currents, plus daily ebb tides and flood tides flows too. Even large pieces of wreckage could be carried or moved greater and greater distances all unseen below the water enlarging the debris and evidence field in the process too!

Why weren't the workers informed when officials issued the order to bar anyone else from entering the bridge?

Maybe it was the prop walk caused the stern to move port side, of course the bow would move starboard side accordingly. While propeller was in full reverse (judging by the amount of engine smoke), the rudder was much less effective in steering the ship, despite the ship was having emergence/regular power minutes before the collision. Sounds like pilot's or operator's error when they were under great stress to regain directional control, they should have kept the ship going forward inside the navigation channel as it was instead of putting the ship in reversing.

Reminds me of the ship that blocked the Suez Canal. Modern day disaster.

Tug boats should have been there to escort this vessel from the dock, to a safe distance out of the harbour. Any bridge is no match for a fully loaded vessel. Regulation’s, rule’s , and law’s are the only counter to lax or malfunction al mishap’s. The cost of an escort tug boat compared to the cost of rebuilding a bridge, and live’s lost is negligible. Even a cargo ship losing power and running into another ship is costly. Escort tug boat’s are the answer to the problem. Safety first !
