Invincible Season 2 Episode 8 Reaction - I THOUGHT YOU WERE STRONGER 

Imagine how cool it would be if Agent Spider appeared in Beyond the SpiderVerse. Then his encounter with Invincible would truly be a canon event.

So little fun fact: Arachnid Boy was not only an original character they made for the show since, even though Spider-Man and Invincible team up in comics, the show runners couldn’t get the rights to have Spider-Man appear in the show, BUT Arachnid Boy is voiced by Josh Keaton (VA for Spectacular Spider-Man). It’s honestly impressive they got as close as they did with that!

"I thought you were stronger." That line really hit me. The whole Mark and Levi fight was so good. Also, I love the implication that Agent Spider has been dealing with different dimensions recently. AKA his own Spiderverse! I love this guy.

“Tell you what. I’ll kill the boy quickly.” The introduction of one of the most evil Invincibles is cold.

You guys missed it because you were reacting to the face of rex, but Eve specifically says "shut up REX" after he says she must've forgotten the time continuum talk(in a typical sassy rex mannner not at all akin to robots speech patterns). Having not read the comics and just speculating, it's either just Rex who now used Robots suit and disguised his voice to prevent mark from realizing that robot is dead or its robot remote talking through the suit and having transitioned to more of a support role to rex. Leaning more towards the later because robot also speaks the same way robot does, more intellectually and matter of fact. Curious to see how it pans out.

Recognise that when saying "I thought you were stronger..." he was also talking to himself. He made a point against Anissa that he doesn't kill, unlike his father or the other Viltrumites. Here he proved that he doesn't have the moral strength and physical mastery to avoid killing like he thought he did. He just lost himself to his rage.

I'm glad you're adressing all the Anissa comments. As someone who's never read the comics it's infuriating seeing all these cockroaches leaving 'subtle' hints. It hasn't been this hard to avoid spoilers for a series since Attack on Titan.

Angstrom can travel the infinite multiverse, and chose to take out his anger on a version of Mark that isn’t even evil or doesn’t have beef with him in any way…

What I love about the “I thought you were stronger” is Mark could have been saying that about Aangstrom or it could have been him talking about his reluctance to kill.

You guys get it, about it being a slippery slope when a hero kills, how it gets easier and easier to justify each time. That’s why I watch you guys.

I just noticed how the entire family, Mark, Debbie, and Nolan have a black eye on their right eye Also Agent Spider was supposed to be Spider-Man since that's their crossover but I guess for legal reasons they had to reskin the character, but at least he's voiced by Josh Keaton (Spectacular Spider-Man)

Steven Yue continues to showcase emotion so spectacularly. And I already felt incredibly bad for Mark

Interestingly, Eve refers to Robot as “Rex”, not “Rudy” in the future. So I don’t think that’s grown up Rudy after all.

Of all the Marks Angstrom could’ve tormented… he picked the one Mark who literally did NOTHING wrong.

I think we need to give shoutout to Debbie for being the badass mama bear. Through the entire episode, she protected Oliver and wasn’t afraid of telling Levy off.

No one wins in Mark’s situation. No protecting, no vengeance none of that saves ANY part of this. All you have is a LOT of hurt people in an unimaginable amount of pain. And if there IS an afterlife Aangstrom won’t be ok in ANY reality. Poor Old Eve put current Eve in a REALLY rough position and Mark being the ultimate decider only makes things worse. That’s a hard situation for ANYONE. Much more for 2 teenagers.

Eve opted out of going to college to focus on her powers and she's been learning to use them to regrow and rebuild lives instead of taking them. Even if she didn't love Mark she'd understand his decisions and reasons 100%.When she told Mark he didn't deserve the mental turmoil the powers threw on him she was speaking to him from experience.

And now...to wait about 2 more years. 😢 💜

In the first episode, Levy says that Mark and Nolan team up in most realities. So it might not be unique for this Mark to not be evil. Then again, in most of those realities he might just die to Nolan or the others Viltrumites. The "Are you okay?" is mostly just to check for brain injuries. If they say "Do I look okay?", the brain's probably not too badly injured. If they go "I'm fiiiiiiiiiiiine. Never better????" like Rex did, that brain is messed up and they need immediate treatment.

All I'm saying in this is "mark you didn't have a choice, it wasn't your fault, you had to do it or he'll kill them" and "just tell her you love her already!" I thought we would already see the new suit. mark really needs our hug man

The corpse in the mummy room was a guy we saw trying to awaken the mummy back in an episode of Season 1. It was entirely played for laughs: He started getting horrifically possessed by the mummy, but then Mark and Nolan inadvertently slam the tomb door shut in his face just by flying over it, just like what Mark did here lol

The Mummy scene has a matching scene in the first season. Where the guy who is dead enter the tomb and his assistant closes the door behind him.

If you think about it Angstrom talked about his new body as if he knew he could beat Mark in a brawl and take his hits. As far as Mark knew, the other versions of Mark weren’t holding back like he does. So he probably very much believed that Angstrom wouldn’t die to him not holding back, and Angstrom learned the other Marks were pulling their punches while massacring humans and superhero’s.

Invincible is definitely a top tier show.

I've always felt that the alternate Mark's and their sheer brutality is meant to show people why Mark *shouldn't* kill, if he can avoid it. One body becomes two, then three and then Mark just decides it's easier to kill his problems than solve them amicably, which is a pretty damn dangerous outlook to have when you're the single strongest being on the planet.

Idk if anyone else noticed, but right after Mark left, Eve said "Shut up, Rex." Not Rudy/Robot. That shit got the gears in my brain turning real quick. I'm very uncomfortable with how much emphasis they placed on that line. Also comic readers, if that detail is actually foreshadowing something that happens later, please don't spoil it for the love of god. I'm show-only and already got several pretty major plot events spoiled because a lot of y'all don't know when to zip it.

It's not a spoiler since the event already happen but in the comics it was straight up actually Spider-Man he met, not just a Spider-Man reference. Voiced by the legendary Spider-Man voice actor Josh Keaton, who was also in Spiderverse 2 so the multiverse joke was double meta. Josh Keaton also did a similar Spider-Man spoof in Young Justice.

So here is an explanation for the spiderman scene. In the comics, invincible did get sent to earth 616 in the marvel multiverse by Angstrum Levi, but they couldnt get the rights to use the actual spiderman and doc oc, and basically cut most of the adventure and just did the start, and just make you assume it time skiped it, given the web on invincibles back was from spiderman wanting to go and help mark save his mom and brother, but the portal closed and cut the web. He did also meet batman in the comics.

I know you guys read the comments enough to know people go full spoiler LOL but i think this hints a couple things that even the comics don't talk about enough, but it's implied that Armstrong is lying to himself. The moment he struggles with the idea that he helped Mark, he begins to get forced to remember all the realities in which Mark ruined his life, so it's possible that there are indeed universes in which Mark is actually a good person, but his mind is so overwhelmed by the trauma that his mind represses any positive outcome and lives on resentment.

Actually The Agent Spider that appeared in this episode in comics there is a crossover part between Invincible and Spider-Man, but they can’t do that in series.

Mark made the best decision but there was no choice but to come back how will you deal with that situation? Option #1 Experiment with the dead guy's body to try to activate somehow power? Option #2 Dude you have superpowers you can go to space that has some highly intelligent people who actually know how to build a multiverse or time travel? Option #3 The 1% is that eat him to gain his power you're half human and half alien the other alien would dominate the other half with multiverse power. Is a 99% failure, but after you kill somebody you gotta eat something when you do a good job or a bad job I gotta eat. No questions asked.

Im not entirely sure but the gun mark had when he went through one of the portals might have been from Fortnite.

Actually the guy at the end was Rex you can rewind to check if you want but you can here Eve instead of calling him Rudy or Robot she called him Rex, I haven’t read the comics but my theory is that something happened to Robot possibly death and since they didn’t want invincible to know they dressed Rex up in the robot costume

I will give one spoiler for this episode for you guys because it's not even cannon in the comics. That rifle you saw him hit angstrom with, it was the rifle from fortnite. So basically they threw in a little Easter eggs since invincible characters are in fortnite. Also a reminder, rex and Rudy have different voices. That was rex, eve even called him rex.

the ending and the whole episode overall, had me feeling so many emotions. Mostly awe, anxiety, and sadness.

Something interesting I noticed is that in this episode everyone in the Grayson family got a bruised eye on the right side

Oliver isn't the anomaly itself like Erik said but he is a result of the divergent path. For Oliver to both exist in the first place and be on earth events would have to play out closely as in Mark Prime's universe and, like they have been repeating through the season, things don't usually play out like that. The things that cause this universe to be the way it is might be very minuscule and we barely know enough about how things played out in this world, let alone parallel others. The big outlier to me is: - Debbie teaches Nolan how to be human and lets Mark grow up as human. Without this Mark is probably not going to oppose his dad in the events of the season 1 finale and without the love and care Nolan feels for Mark he wouldn't have made it out alive of the season 1 finale either. At least for now, it seems like the biggest W the prime universe had going for it is Debbie herself.

Fun fact that when invincible came back from the portal from Spider-Man’s world the web on him was spiderman actually trying to come to his world without thinking just out of pure intention to help to repay a favor but armstrongs portal closed before he could go snapping the web and then Peter realizes it would’ve been really stupid and proceeds to swing away to go eat dinner with his wife

If i had a nickle for everytime Josh Keaton voiced Spider-Man parody character, i would have 2 nickles, its not much, but its weird it happened twice.

The thing is, what set him off on nolan, him trashing debbie, what set him off here mom with a compound fracture. Threatening debbie and eve has basically been what has always set him berserker

Intense episode, I’m glad Mark finally let loose as he had to at to protect his family but damn seeing how much of a monster Mark is in all the other dimensions was disturbing. Also Allen and Nolan breaking out of that prison together is gonna be badass.
