No, the iPhone was announced at 9:42 AM. Some old iPhone ads actually show that time (iPhone 3G commercial) but after the iPad was announced at 9:41, they decided to change it to 9:41 for all devices (except Apple Watch which is 10:09)
As a Samsung user, it makes me happy seeing Apple moving little by little away from their comfort zone. I like they are starting to make user experience be a lot more fun and utile with these sort of updates.
too bad ur homescreen sucks edit: this place is filled with so many samsung users just coping that they don’t have ios, literally my friend was a tame person he got samsung phone and it has corrupted him. all he talks about is how my iphone is trash and how samsungs are better. I honestly don’t know why so many samsung users are watching this when all they do is go straight to the comments to make fun of iphone lol they all just have cracked phone screens edit 2: mrwhosetheboss comparison video proves my point lmao guys stop replying to me unless you have something funny to say
@@Adrian-xz9bn I think what he means is that they've never used a Samsung device before to see the absolute customizability of it. It's one thing Android always gets right like I'm taken back by the colour pallet affecting everything.
Ahh now I finally see someone appreciating the effort 😌. Those toxic "we've had it for years" fans are the worst. It's time to acknowledge that both the OS are the best in their own spheres. Nothing wrong in one OS taking inspiration from other 🤷🏻♂️.
This is nothing in the grand scheme of things, the UI is the same exact thing they've been serving for the last 5 years since the iphone X. It's about time they refreshed the look and feel and adopted something more radical.
This is my 4th month using an iPhone and I wasn’t really happy with the limits on customisation. It felt like they were missing some of the most basic features that Androids have. I’m really excited to see the new iOS.
They literally copied everything android has and put it in iphone and called it innovative. Man iphone sucks, but I do agree there are many ways where iphones are ahead which androids can never catch up with, for example the processor and optimization, but I think google will be in the level of iphone soon
I don't know...iOS is still just a grid of apps to me. Its powerful, with well implemented features, but I'm on the latest version on my work iPhone12 and it doesn't look massively different from when I had a personal iPhone4 back in the day.
I am so excited for the customizability of the lock screen when IOS 16 rolls out. I hope iPhones in later updates will be able to customize the same amount as Android phones!
Customization is a thing now for Apple. That is an interesting step, even though it’s quite basic and a very much late addition compared to Android. It’s going to be a challenge to get my wife on board with all of the SharePlay options. For me personally, most all of these options are a great addition to the functionality. What I see as a big con is, that a lot of iPhone users are used to the restrictions Apple has applied for all these years. I personally am very happy that it finally gets some TLC. I saw some pretty nice progress on iPados as well. My biggest gripe however is the Files app and that app desperately requires a finder like - overhaul.
Out of all the tech reviewers I watch, I enjoy Arun's videos the most. The way he makes the videos is not just simple but also elegant! He takes all the complicated information and makes it "bite-sized" for all of us who are not as technologically savvy, and I'm all down for that! And let's not forget all those fun hidden jokes and edits in his videos. He manages to make his videos not only educational but also funny, which is awesome!
I do not use apple products at all, but I still watch and like every video Arun makes about them because of his production value and enthusiasm. He could sell me sand in the desert.
I'm going to continue using Android phones, but it's nice to see Apple stepping their game up in the software department. This will only motivate other software developers to further enhance their experience too.
@@playboicartilover00 ehh no thanks. Been there, done that. In my opinion android phones are still superior, especially in regards to hardware. The iPhone's hardware/design is years behind the curve if you ask me.
That’s because it damn well needs it. The system is unstable so it needs stabilisation and constant fixes. Battery usage bc standby time sucks on Samsung phones and they drain like crazy especially Exynos ones. Camera updates because they can’t even be bothered to test it properly before launching a new model and then reviews have to expose all the flaws and they need to rush out updates. Basically most OneUI updates is just fixing problems caused by the previous update rather than adding anything meaningful.
I’ve had these features on iOS 14.5.1 on my XR for awhile now with a jailbreak, but it’s actually really nice to these be native for iOS, which means I won’t have to deal with weird bugs on my phone and it could run better.
I really sincerely appreciate that Apple takes his time before it releases these features to make sure that they’re well made and the kinks are worked out before they just shoot them out like half the companies
These features are not even new things...maybe new to iphone but not new...it's not like apple had to think really hard about them...they technically just added them in now
@@omo708 there's always that one jerk who watches a video just to talk trash and act like he knows more then everyone else. Hey guys look, the Royal jester has made his debut on iOS 16 Tips & Tricks video!
Samsung has had customizable wallpapers with their galaxy themes app for years now, it would be nice if Apple had that too. In Galaxy Themes you can change the wallpaper, icons, AOD's and entire phone themes. EDIT: Guys please chill, I didn't expect this in the comments XD I'm not saying Samsung or Apple is better, I'm just pointing out that android had a good concept on having a store that has wallpapers and more. It doesn't matter that the things in the store sucked, it mattered that they tried to make an interesting concept. EDIT 2: Why did this comment blow up
usually when android phones release something its buggy and generally badly polished, but when apple does it they actually bother polishing the feature and making it bug free
I am SO excited for this update! I know not everybody uses voice memos, but it’d be nice to see some updates on that. To be able to rewind, pause w/o it messing up if your phone locks while you’re listening or even recording a message, and to fast forward! Just a thought.
Nice to see Apple adding some new stuff to customization and other features . The reason why I use android is purely because of me having control of almost all details on my phone. Nice vid btw.
Honestly they should allow user made time display, I can see people making really cool designs that still fit the default size to maintain the support of the Lock Screen widgets
@@deo1107 it’s the display type that u see on stuff like microwaves, where numbers 0-9 are shown through 7 different segments and some/all turn on to show a specific number

Tbh for the vast majority of people looking for a flagship, it already ticks a lot of boxes, the camera is incredibly consistent, battery life on the Max is leagues ahead of 5000mah Ultra/Pro devices, 7 years of day one updates, higher quality versions of third party apps - especially those that use the camera. And this level of customisation covers what 90% of Android users do anyway, it’s just a small minority that really do anything more advanced than widgets and custom fonts.

I'm shocked how much hype there is around being able to change the clock font and add a few widgets to the lockscreen. It's an improvement for sure, but hardly a game changer and honestly should have been there a long time ago. Most new iOS 16 features seem pretty minor to be honest.
@@equuleus9970 then do it on your android.. you will need to download some glitchy launcher that has tons of bugs and won’t do half of the stuff the new Lock Screen can do…

But hur dur dur, apparently Android is better because you can make the apps funny colors. I swear Android users must spend more times staring at their home screen than in actual apps if they care more about customization than app performance.
I know you’ve heard this a lot, but if you keep improving your videos at the same rate that you have, I’d honestly think that they are made by Apple or Microsoft, like the advertisments, with really smooth and clean shots. keep going, you bring me joy!
I don't get how Apple will profit from Pay Later because they're losing out on interest. But at the same time I can see that it will make Apple Pay a more enticing option for many.
I feel like they should have dev partners for these new customisation features they keep adding, like how they have belkin for physical accessories. So much more potential.
No they shouldn’t. This is where Android fell flat opening the floodgates for low quality customisations. I agree customisations should exist but they should be cohesive like this or Material You (hell this is far more granular than Material You) - but not letting whatever shit stick and making it a fragmented mess rather than a polished set of choices.
@@User-cb4jm it's not fragmented mess it's more like you have controll of everything. It's about taste. Someone's mess is others gold and vice versa...
I’m really freaking excited for this update! ESPECIALLY the customization part of it! I was always jealous of people that had Androids with the endless amounts of customization, but this will REALLY bridge that gap! I’m hyped!
Damn they really went to town with this one. It's about damn time Apple starts spicing things up. These new QoL features are absolutely INSANE for iOS users, FINALLY. YESSSSS
Samsung customizable lock screen: Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary this may mean that Apple may become more customizable than the impression we have of it
So the Samsung lock screen can intelligently pair with various do not disturb modes, be able to be swapped with a single hold and swipe and has the ability to have beautiful depth effect overlays with subjects in your photos? Worthy opponent, more like is it even worthy of BEING an opponent to the iOS 16 implementation.
Love te comments on this video. it's people actually praising Apple for opening up, instead of acting like fanboys with the "Android did it first", like yes we know. and Apple also gets copied a lot and Android gets features we had for years. competition creates healthy economy.
I have always loved my apple watch screen and i’m really happy to finally see it on the iPhone. As someone who is HORRIBLE in reading maps and following it, the updated apple maps is something i’m excited about and hopefully I will stop going in the wrong direction and taking a longer time to reach my destination.
Agreed. The Apple Watch faces have always been very aesthetically pleasing. Great to have the ability to use this on the iOS Lock Screen. It looks very refined.
most people stay poor only because they got discouraged by friend's and relatives who stopped them against investing and trading crypto currency while the wise ones kept on investing in cryptocurrency and growing higher financially.
My favorite is the Lock Screen it acts just like the Apple Watch like the way you can change the filter the widgets the font and ESPECIALLY the complications. For once it felt like apple just makes it more fun and they are thinking! Which I never would’ve thought I would say until now
Yeah! I could spend half an hour on the Apple Watch messing with the customizable faces so I am really happy to see a similar thing coming to the iPhone.
@@UProductions457 I agree! Sometimes I just feel bored so I look at my watch and just customize and play with all of the watch faces! Now I can’t imagine how cool it would be in the iPhone!

Been Android + PC user my whole adult life.. and in the las few years those 2 have given me fewer an fewer reasons to stick with them.. apple is killing it at the moment. Really considering making the switch.
Apple publicly announcing something that already existed in android, it doesn't mean it's new... But probably more optimized and efficient compared to most android phones.
I love apple products and it's the only thing I'd buy for a phone, tablet, or watch and even though I have Mac computers I still need to also have a good windows pc which I find annoying. It's not all Apples fault it's just that there is so much more software and apps that are windows only, it could force you into having to own both a Mac and windows pc. If someone can afford it it's the way to go imo, get all Apple stuff and then still have one very good performance windows pc.
Seeing all this progress, I'm often like "wow that looks so good, maybe I'll buy the next iPhone" And then I remember that it's about $1500 outside of my budget.
There’s no iPhone that costs $1500. So what your Android phone costs -$100? You can get these features on a $250 used 5yo iPhone X. It will still have a better camera, display and performance compared to a cheap budget phone at $250.
I haven’t been excited for a new iOS in quite a while, can’t wait for this! Like holy crap that Lock Screen customization looks AMAZING. You can tell how deprived us Apple user are but getting this excited by customization 😂
I find it’s a good trade off. I’ve considered switching to Android for the customisations but I disliked how that came with many trade offs. By and large I still preferred iOS. But with these customisation along with the widgets in iOS 14, tbh I have very little reason to consider Android as an OS - just individual manufacturers who do a good job at hardware.
After using Android for 10 year, making my mind to switch to iphone 14 pro max. The optimization of IOS, simplicity, apps works smoothly and beast battery life feels like it suit my busy work life need.
@Zack Smith the situation in 2022 is both are trying to make things similar and they are converging instead of going far in each iteration. Even Android native app development and iOS development is becoming similar with Android's Kotlin & Compose, iOS Swift & Swift UI...
Only thing holding me back from ever using ios (even though I like the aesthetics and smoothness much more than android) is the no 3rd party download shit. I love side loading apps. So sticking to android. But I do love what apple is doing with ios
This was a very informative video. Although I feel it wasn't enough to make me want to convert back over to an iPhone. As someone who is a tech geek and has to understand every feature of his phone. I'm looking at majority of these upgrades and noticing several of them are things I've been able to do on Android for years. There are some awesome features that stand out, but ultimately in my opinion they're still playing catch up.
I think that they've been waiting to have the core experience to be down to a T before they do unnecessary things, but now they're doing the fun unnecessary things and the great thing is many of them are original ideas, no editing messages on Android, almost no lock screen customization besides sometimes clock faces and of course the wallpaper. But having multiple lock screens to go through and pick what I'm in the mood for is very nice. And creating a transparent PNG from a photo that easily without unnecessary extra apps is amazing. I bet they're going to try to build the most interesting customization options that they can in the future (fingers crossed)
It's interesting. If Apple plays their cards right for IOS 17 and adds much more home screen customization, I might switch from Samsung. The functionality on Iphones seems to be so much more fluid and just works better. Plus, the cameras have my attention too. Nothing against Samsung, but I've always had Samsungs, and I'd like a change for once.
This is really big step that Apple made, it's a huge improvement and what they try to do now is expanding user experience and allow users to customize User Interface which is mostly exciting.
I thought that they would actually add live wallpapers when I heard that they would revamp the lock screen. I was really hoping for it but I was wrong. iOS 17 hopefully will add it
Live wallpapers eat the battery alive -- in some cases up to 25% (4-6 hours). Highly doubtful that Apple will ever do that. They did add moving wallpapers that play when you press the screen. I think that's as close as you're ever going to get.
As someone who uses both Android and iOS, I have to recognize that Apple is actually trying this year. While Android has had a huge level of customization for years, I believe these little things matter for a regular user. And oh boy, inside this beta there are quite some “one more thing”s going on, like the new “Developer Mode”, Face ID finally recognizing your face on landscape, haptics (finally) on Apple’s stock keyboard and some nifty accessibilities. Also, amazing video! I enjoy how creative your videos are!
@@noratown I just saw this comment! Haha yeah, under Haptic and Sounds, go to Keyboard and it's right there. Only downside, compared to Android, is that you can't customize how strong the haptics can be for the keyboard. But I'd dare to say it's a good haptic feedback.
@@alaskerheston Call me a dummy, but I'm not seeing it. I have Keyboard Clicks turned on, as well as System Haptics...but I don't have any vibration when typing something. (And thank you for replying!)
Ah yes the dumpster fire called the Galaxy Theme store with either paid or low quality options designed by a blind horse all in a lovely app full of trashy ads. Brilliant.
Something I hope apple changes in the future is being able to toggle whether or not you want music to automatically start playing when it pairs to your car's Bluetooth. Yes, I know it seems like there should be a setting but I checked with Apple and I checked with Mercedes to see if MBUX has a toggle for that and there isn't one... I barely listen to music in the car unless I'm alone and even then not always and I don't want to hear Adele's Hello EVERY SINGLE TIME I start the car, but I would like having the option to just hit play and music starts whenever I actually am in the mood for some tunes and not have to fumble with Bluetooth settings to do so. I hope apple sees this
Remove whatever app you use for music by dragging upwards from the bottom of your phone, look for your music app, swipe it upwards and you won't have this problem. It's really simple.
