that “stop obsessing over battery life” tip was soooo helpful for me because i always freak out and worry about my battery so much. turning off my battery percentage does help my mental health a lot!!!
I have the opposite: when the charge is less than half, I always think it's less by looking only at the icon than it really is (percentage level). I feel uncomfortable when I can't see the exact percentage. I'm very glad that I finally don't have to look at Control Center to see the exact charge value.
the truth is your battery health is getting worse every time you use your phone so it's no use worrying or stressing about it. It's just like us humans, we're dying everyday and it's inevitable so just live life and dont worry about it haha
I love your videos. They're concise and straight to the point. No lame jokes or visual effects to entertain the viewers, just simple facts and clear information. Keep it up.
Great video Brandon, thank you. Is there any trade off on battery life/maximum capacity when using magsafe or wireless chargers vs a charging cable? Thank you in advance
I've studied this for the past couple of years and honestly have not noticed a difference in battery health after 1 year, despite wireless producing more heat
Does anyone else’s device get hot when charging? And why does this happen? I only use Apple chargers, my phone only gets hot when I use the Apple brick charger, when I was the old triangle 5W, the charger gets hot, but not the phone. But using the more wattage block charger, it gets hot + my phone? Any reason why?
As much as I respect you sharing this video, I think someone who's doing all these, better get a feature phone or a lame phone. A smartphone is not for you.
correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe that the focus mode doesnt disable notifications, it just hides it from you in the period the focus mode is on, because as soon as you disable that focus mode within half a second you get all your notifications presented. So I'm assuming that in the focus mode the apps do keep running in the background, refreshing, but just avoids sending the notifications to avoid distractions.
Correct, but the notifications lighting up your screen + the sounds/vibrations also have negative effects on battery life. Disable notifs for unneeded apps, then take it a step further with focus modes to mute the notifs you do get daily. Guess I needed to verbalize that better in the video.
I have to say I have watched many battery tips videos but this advice was not only really precise but makes so much sense!!-Thank you so much Brandon-These are things I never thought about for battery but hopefully now I can improve my own battery life because of this-Keep up the insanely informative and enjoyable videos Brandon!
Thanks, Brandon. I paused my iPhone 15 Pro Max during each of your tips to locate the feature. After adapting most of your suggestions, the battery is phenomenal -- a "10" on a "1 to 10" scale. Most appreciated.
19:26 battery life sure.. but its gonna warm up ur phone? damage the speaker ? bro what are u on about .. do u really think that playing the audio on max volume is gonna damage the speakers ?? do u just start bullshitting to increase video length? i dont know if i can trust u as much now
I agree about the battery % thing, I prefer mine to not show the number, or else I would be looking at that all the time and see how the number goes down and worry about how much battery I have left. Just by looking at the battery animation I know roughly how much I have left anyways so thats good enough.
This is great but apple needs to optimize the OS stat. Nothing against this video in anyway, but users shouldn't have to go through this much just to maintain the longest battery life when Apple should be optimizing the OS from the start.
You're in the right headspace but still somewhat wrong. These settings are all on by default generally for convenience. These features are useful for many but comes at the risk of losing battery life.
My battery is bad, losing 10% on idle drain over night....I have AOD off yet home and lock screen consume so much and barely have any notifications if anything on...same with background refresh...apple music also consumes a lot, something that didn't happen with my 14PM, very disappointing
I charged my iphone 15 pro max at 18 percent yesterday it was hot didn’t know that would affect battery, and since it was my first time charging it at 18% cause I just got the phone is that ok?
With charging how can it be avoided when using Apple CarPlay as it needs to plug into usb to use CarPlay even if my phone is at 78% can’t avoid intermittent charging 🤔
@BrandonButch my wife’s battery chart shows 30% usage for No Cell Coverage. Mine doesn’t have this issue. Any tips? Her phone is always dying and 30% seems high
In less than 1 year, my battery health for my iPhone 14 tanked down to 88% even after taking precautions like charging it to 80%, removing the cover while charging, charginf it in a colder room, and now after updating it to ios 17 the battery life is even worse for me...
After I learned that the battery heat management is the key technology in EV cars, I started putting something cold onto my phone while charging. I even bought a beautiful cube made of glass that i take out of the fridge and put it on the phone while charging. Did I go too far - maybe, but the battery capacity was at 92% when I started doing this, and the good news is - it is still at 92 after several months. I'm using both wireless and wired quick charging. I'm also constantly using iPhone for navigation in my oldschool car - so the screen is almost always on, close to full brightness, and the modem is always on (online music and podcasts + bluetooth), which is considered as harsh conditions in summer heat. But the iPhone is placed in a stand in aircon vent and is always cool. As I've read, the top safe temperature level for the battery is around 40°C, so if it feels warm, then it's already close to the upper temp limit. Gotta avoid that, and everything will be cool.
My camera was working perfectly this morning and then when I try to take a clear picture it comes all blurry. I just noticed this problem just now is there a way to fix this problem?
i hope the consensus amongst users is that auto brightness should always be left enabled. it is the only way to get all 2000 nits out of the display on 14 pro and 15 series, when the ambient light sensor detects sunlight (or very bright light) it will crank up the display to reach this. but if auto brightness is disabled, the manual brightness slider does not top out at absolute max output to help display performance over the long-term.
17:36 - do you know anything about the experimental features? There’s so many toggled on but seems intentionally confusing. Which I suspect has to do with how I somehow get ads about food or dish soap as I’m washing dishes despite disabling all personalization features. There’s plenty more reasons but too much
Auto brightness is one thing I will never turn on, every time I go into a dark room it turns the brightness down so low that I can barely read the screen, and if I sit under a lamp or something it turns it up because it thinks I need more brightness like when you are outside in the sun, but no need for more brightness when sitting inside under a lamp. So again this is not an option I can recommend turning on just to save a little bit of battery. It's just gonna be more annoying having to adjust brightness manually all the time when auto brightness gets it wrong.
The shorcut I’m using to get to the location service turned off or on is I always swipe down the search bar and simply type two letter : PR , and it will automatically show privacy and security
Thank you so very much I really appreciate it your content n I learned a lot from this but there’s some things I don’t use but I’m going to check to see if some things are turned on or off mostly my battery lasts me until I go to bed most every night ❤😊 thank you again Brandon oh if you charge to follow you on X I can’t afford to pay for that bc I don’t know if I’m going have a home to live in next month n if I’m to have to move somewhere else or be just homeless but I will not for long hopefully
After 25mins of watching this video and making note of everything carefully, that's when Brandon says "Stop being obsessed with your battery percentage". The moment he said that, I was thinking, that's NEVER-ENDING SIRR 😀
I keep my battery percentage number off cause it’s hideous and it honestly does help with not worrying about it. Side note: pro battery life is way worse than pro max :(
Hi Brandon, I just got the iPhone 14 pro yesterday and wondering is it a good idea to turn on Optimized Battery Charging and just charge it when I’m going to bed no matter what it is about to die or not?
Curious after changing all of these settings how much percentage of battery are folks getting at the end of a day? Seems to be an obsession for some. What kind of battery life are people expecting from these devices? Serious question and I’m not being snarky to those who worry about this at all?
I'm not really into Apple's Ecosystem / apps, so I disabled many of these settings for when if need them if at all. I routinely get around 3 - 4 hrs at 60% if my battery life. I'm able to get usually about 1 & 1/2 days of use on a single charge for my 13 Mini (8hrs+)
Apple ipong users: ipongs battery are sooooo goood its unreeeeeeeaaaal Also apple ipong users with their humongous battery saving tips spammed all over youtube:
Some say it's fine to keep, apps in the background, that it will not drain, but I do not trust this and have seen some drain when running in the background. So I always close my apps after im done using them.
My iPhone XR dropped from 100% to 96% in 1 week of using it 😢 I charge it from 20% to 85% everytime (running IOS 17.2.1) I’m charging it 3 or 4 times a day sometimes
I really don't want to go below 20%. And I also don't go beyond 85%. But I sometimes forget my plugged phone, so what helped me was this battery limiter called Chargie. I use this for my iPhone but it can also be used on Android phones, tablets, iPads, and more. Thanks for your content!
Who now what is the problem if my 13 pro max while charging drop from 95 to 100 fast. And then disgarging from 100 to 95 fast. But my battery capacity show 100 %
I've done practically all that you said here, Thank you, but I charged my battery 100% and since this video has been running it hasn't moved yet. At this rate it'll last a few days.
To save battery health please don’t use fast charging. I use a Samsung charger on my iPhone. It’s slow but my battery health is at 💯 after 2 years of phone usage. I use iPhone 13 Pro Max
@@WertyTT4 my battery health has been draining drastically after ios 17. I was on 97% just 2 weeks back and now I’m at 93% And, I don’t charge my phone over 80% and don’t let it go below 20%
Is there an option to somehow get an alert or notification that phone needs to be charged? For example, battery level drops below 30% and my phone makes a sound signal and text notification that it’s time to charge the phone.
So Brandon, just tel me apple makes us to invest on their devices just to sit and watch your videos and work for keeping the battery life on watch and it’s Apple responsibility to do this instead you’re doing
I don’t really care for the rest of the iOS features but why did they have to change how pdf works am so frustrated like if u have pages of different sizes in a pdf you can’t zoom in anymore fully and u can’t double tap like it was working perfectly fine I am so annoyed right now
I have to use cellular in my house because the internet company. Internet goes in and out if a download is slow I turn off wifi. And use lte to update all my apps. Gotta do what ya gotta do.
i think they need to remove battery health from the phones to many ppl stressing over battery i say if u spend a grip on your phone use it use all of the features your phone come with enjoy your phone and charge up when it’s low it’s that simple . If ima turn off everything well i need to just keep the phone in the box 📦
