iOS 17: Face ID Not Working On iPhone 15 Pro Max! - Fixed! 

Tried all of these steps.. it still only works like 50% of the time.. Contacted apple, they ran diagnostics, didn’t find any hardware issues, and Face ID is working normally(hardware wise at least) so they won’t replace my phone! I’m stuck on what to do now!

Face ID was working smoothly on iPhone XR. Since I switched to 15 pro max, it never recognizes me with/without makeup and glasses. While there was no way to add FACE ID with a mask on the XR, FACE ID was working with a mask, glasses, even when I was crying, laughing, in any situation.

I tried everything for my iPad Pro. Then I used my iPhone flashlight and saw some dust stuck inside the hole or true depth sensor whatever that is. I inserted the ejector pin inside that hole and after that Face ID started working. Let’s see if it stays this way.

Just smack your face camera - this will fix it for sure... also had this problem but smacking front camera with palm fixed issue.
