Thanks for making this video mate!! I've think about to update my iPhone 13 to iOS 17 but the battery life on the iOS 17 makes me worried to update my phone. Maybe i should wait until iOS 17.1 came out :D

i don't think its randomness. Iphone 13 battery life actually degraded after update, seeing lot of issue compared to other models.

My iPhone 11 Pro never was slow nor did it had bad battery life. Now on iOS 17.0.2 it was really laggy and started to be really hot randomly. I restarted it and so on but it stayed the same. Now I downgraded back to IOS 16.6.1 because it’s still signed by Apple. Everything seems to work again now. No lag whatsoever. So for me the result definitely was different.

I and a half hours extra on iPhone 13 iOS 16 is not negligible. However on my iPhone 13 I seem to be getting better battery since the update.

The IPhone 13 on ios 17 lasted 100 minutes less than on ios 16. That's too much to be chalked up to variables.....

And this about decides it for me, I’m sticking to iOS16 for my 13 mini. Merci

Glad I upgraded from the Xr to the Se 3. Other than the screen size, which doesn't bother me, everything else was a upgrade. Faster chip, longer support, better battery, lighter weight, better camera. Since I basically got it for free with a trade-in, very happy with it.

Been using my ip12 since 2 years now and battery health is 88 rn but after updating to ios 17 it really has increased in battery health am averaging around 5.5 hours a day of sot I usually take it from charge at 8 in the morning and do intermediate tasks like yt insta etc and I have to plug it in by 11ish every night but so far so great man can’t complain

Watching video on RU-vid I am losing 1% every 4 minutes after updating to 17.02. Very sad :(

I’m glad I didn’t update I’m still on 16.6.1 and it still runs smoothly with no issues at all.

I have a 12 mini on IOS 15.7 and I have not updated just because every single iPhone I have had that I updated in the past would heat up a lot during use after the update, and then burns through its battery

The 13 series have had great batteries so Apple will try to create some separation with the 14 series either by trying to improve batteries on the 14 series if that's not possible they will reduce the battery of the 13series🙂

Yeah, iOS 17 on iphone 13's is a major flop. I really regret i made the upgrade so soon. I know i can rollback to iOS 16, but i don't want to migrate all the files back and forth...

yea i was thinking that. I updated my iPhone 11 and no difference between ios 16 and ios 17 for battery. Maybe had similar differences but thats work great i dont have any problem.

Still on iOS 15 with my 13 pro max. No intention of moving to 16 let alone 17. In my view phone functionality peaked a few years ago. One of the things that contributed was the video you did last year demonstrating the iPhone 13PM's excellent battery life against the 14PM

I was only looking at 12 and 13. And based on this video battery life is good on iOS 17 u have iPhone 12 and if you have 13 than you should stick with iOS 16.

If you didn’t wait for the upgrade background upgrade process to complete, this is not representative. My 15 said “battery life and performance may be degraded until background process are complete” on the Battery page for nearly 24 hours after upgrading.

Has anyone experienced charging issues with fast charger on the Xr after the IOS 17 update? Mine wont charge at all with a fast charger after the IOS 17 update. Worked perfectly on IOS 16

a simple modification to prevent having anxiety from upgrading to the newest IOS is allowing you to downgrade if you don't like or having good experience with the latest and greatest. It is like going down a oneway street and you can't go back to where you came from

I disagree with the conclusion that the 13 isnt doing worse. It consistently did worse in every single category totalling over 90 min difference. You cant write off a 1% difference when its consistently in the same direction.

I am glad that I chose 14 over 13 cuz this is the first time I am into iPhone after plenty years into android. Androids are good at battery. So I have the same feeling now using 14.

Well, awkard enough, i felt that even my Apple Watch with WOS10 is taking a lot less battery. I'm lovin it;

My 14 Pro max is on iOS 17.2 beta and at 98% battery life I average about 9-12 hours after consistent use (mostly RU-vid watching)

They use cheaper batteries in these IOS devices today. My IPhone 13 has only 88% Battery health after 1,5 Years but my old IPhone 4S from 2013, charged up 4 times as much in all these years, with a build in Battery made by Sony still has 96% battery health! 10year old IPhone battery has amuch better condition and without any save charge features! Most of he time it was also slow charged with only 1Amp.

I dont agree with your comment over iphone 13 with ios 16 and 17 as some random error caused less battery. Its certainly not the case. Iphone 13 was announced by apple having 2.5 hours of extra battery life. Which does look like that on ios 16. But now with ios 17, it looks like iphone 12 and 13 are quite same. As if apple did it deliberately to force people to upgrade from 13(a 2 year old device) to 15 right when 15 launched.

From this test I see that iPhones 12-14 has horrible purple screens. I think that one app will consume relatively the same power. So you should add some pauses of using phone. Because the difference could be in iddle mode.

Unless u on iPhone 15 battery drains so fast. Like I'm gonna have to upgrade lol. Like I've noticed by batter is done like 30% faster

Thanks for taking the time to do the test but 1.5hrs is a lot on a test like this. Yes a percentage point difference here or there on each portion isn’t a lot but they all add up. And it adds up to,, **Dont install iOS 17 if u have iPhone13**

you should try considering that it does a lot of indexing and background processes after update so maybe do the updated test after a few days

I have iphone 8 and I dont know if I should upgrade it to iphone 11 or 15 pro ( I dont want the 13 because its arround 800€ and 60hz and I can have the 11 with 60hz but 180€ on marketplace.
