despite all the AI announcements, what actually surprised me the most was the new dark mode native app icons. I saw a concept for it a few weeks ago on X, but I was not expecting Apple to do it at all but here we are and I’m not complaining.
@@9TF_SAIYAN I have used android for a good 8 years and no you didn't have it all for years and besides the experience has never been this premium, even on the flagships. The level of customization in the home screen isn't this severe in android. You can't choose custom colors for app icons in windows. As they say, when apple does it, it does better. Cope and seethe.
So, basically in 2024 Q3, I’ll get 50% on my iPhone what I’ve got on Android for years now. I enjoyed a calculator, UI customization and many other “new” things (to iOS) on my older Android phones. What’s still missing (very short list): - pdf printer - photos: auto adjust perspective + real moving to real folders + panoramic on both directions - videos: pause function - two apps simultaneously (dual window) - desktop mode
@@k.vn.k who would like to color the icons? I used to have a custom ROM which would do such a thing on Android and I found that horrible. But well, each have their own sense of style…
@@critique-realmy Android's battey lasts 30% longer than the iPhone 15 pro max, with a better display, more features, etc. iPhone users think Androids stayed like 8 years ago but I have both and I tell you: iPhones are somewhat worse, and way more expensive. You pay for the brand.
@@Patty100ish iPhone Super-Cycle incoming! I have an iPhone 8plus (love my touchID) but guess what....buying the new 16 plus max ultra whatever..LOL. Apple will make sooo much money. And honestly from what I see the camera on the 16 is going to be bonkers too. It's going to sell out day one.
It is. But, I actually thought the entire Keynote was Anticlimactic. I was expecting something A Lot More Magical, considering how long AI has been around and how fast it’s Developing. And with the fact that mostly they’re just Partnering up with Other Companies, rather than “Building It From The Ground Up” themselves, as they always say.
It’s truly sad what passes satisfactory standards for updates now. The fact this is ground breaking to some people speaks to the total saturation in innovation within the software/ui-ux space, especially at Apple. Besides AI enhancements which is largely unwanted by a great deal of customers, they simply added features that should have been baked in a decade ago. And they expect customers to thank them for the opportunity. Smh.
As a Samsung user, I'm happy for IOS users, they get to experience what we've got for years and maybe see how cool it is, I wish they would've gotten split-screen and some other very useful features.
I know many want it but as an ex Android user I never really missed the intense customization possible (though I welcome it being an option). Split screen though? I want that more than almost anything 😢 One day… maybe
I waited for so many months in the hope that they would Introduce a split screen and clipboard in this major update and switch to an iPhone. Looks like it's not gonna happen this year too. And no upgrade in the keyboard, that is painful. 😢
@@9TF_SAIYANwhy do the most unliked people in the world come to every Apple video just to shove their androids up everyone’s ass talking about how they are the best things ever and can’t just realized that they’re all just phones and everyone has opinions?
Stick with Android. I just got a new iPhone 15 Pro Max, coming from a Samsung S21 Ultra and I feel that I downgraded. iPhone is beautiful but so many basic features missing in this device that I thought were already in iPhone. It's a shame.
As an iPhone user for like 13 years,I just wanna say: it is so dump how much everyone is excited about home screen customization and talking about it like Apple has invented something🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Thank you for being honest. I commented on a different review video essentially saying the same thing. People are getting excited over moving icons anywhere they want, scheduled texts, when Android has had these things for *years*. It's not revolutionary or even all that exciting to me. And I'm an Apple user 🙄😕.
0:28 how can you be seriously excited for a feature that already existed on other devices for YEARS. Seriously the only surprise here is mine when finding out that you couldn't do that...
The hiding apps feature for me is golden. I have apps that I don't want either my wife or kids to see. Anyone old enough might remember going out to rent a movie and finding that black curtain with a sign "Adults Only." I can't confirm or deny that this will be useful.
@@alisamrah2150It's a myth that iOS is more secure than Android, I'm deep tech guy and I can tell you that much. Apple have done a pretty good job by selling the myth in similar way they hv done on many fronts, but it's quite the contrary. When the numbers of apple users become those of Android's the world will know how "safe" iOS really is. There is no point in cyber-attacking iOS environment... yet. Hope you got the point.
I honestly just can’t wait for rcs man. I have so many friends and family who don’t have iPhones and I get mad cause I can’t send high quality photos and videos to them.
RCS is what most phone brands use to send messages. Apple doesn't support RCS, so when apple & a different phone brand text between each other it brings the quality of photos and video down
After playing extensively with the colors and icon positions etc. are you able to revert back to the original setup? If not, I'd be reluctant to experiment
Pause button for video recording, system clipboard manager, customizable keyboard, notification of how long before the alarm goes off. Impressed. _Sarcasm_
Got the first beta installed. There are definitely bugs, but it is useable. I'm loving all the accessibility improvements to voiceover, the transcriptions, and the fact that we FINALLY have stereo recording on the voice memos app. I've been using another app for stereo audio recordings for a while now, so that was a great change. I can't wait for all the "AI" stuff that Apple showed to become available. IT sounds like that will be loads of fun, and somewhat actually useful with all the personal context. All round a great wwdc. I am curious to see if iPad OS has changed in any major way. I don't have an iPad to test but I'll be sure to come back here for those updates!
I'm testing it on an old XS and it seems pretty good, one time I was customizing my icons and they blanked out, then came back as I clicked on them. I don't want jinx anything but on this old iPhone it feels amazing and snappy, and so far battery seems OK.
This has been the best update in years and it’s because they’ve done things we’ve wanted for years. Siri will finally be as smart as Google. You don’t have to jail break your phone to customize it. You can hide and find things better. This is just a great update! 10/10 no notes!
I’m glad Apple waited to add a lot of these features because even hiding and locking an app is more intuitive than on Android and just turning an icon into a widget is cool it’s simple but useful.
While Samsung user haves had all this updates and customization for the last 10 years. Now 10 years later iPhone user think this is a thing😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow so original… I can say the same about continuity which some of them still aren’t on Samsung or android devices. Honestly there are pros and cons about each device and platform and we all pick what we want. So why don’t you just go back to a Samsung video?
Admittedly, Samsung has had all these features. Now they’re on iOS. For people who prefer this system over Android, it’s a huge upgrade! For the record, I tried Android, but just more productive with the Apple ecosystem.
I want to get it soon bad, but its my primary driver. Do your banking apps still work as expected AND have you discovered any major problems or glitches ❓
As someone who's been an Android user from the beginning and always admired iOS's display and user interface, especially the app drawers, I've often wished Android had something similar. However, after seeing the iOS 18 update, I can't help but feel it's becoming more like Android than iOS. It almost gives off the vibe of a cheap launcher rather than the unique iOS experience I once admired. It's intriguing how these platforms seem to influence each other over time.
As an android and iPhone user, it’s good to see apple finally narrow the gap with android’s features, if they can keep the momentum going with iOS devices then they can be fully on the same level. the only Oemthat really challenges on the same level is windows
90% of this update felt as Apple finally catching up with the industry and then surpassing it with the remaining 10%. The calculator app for example was genuinely impressive
