This is a wonderful and thorough exploration of some of our favorite trails, too! Thanks for sharing. :) Did you know that Hitchcock's Loess Hills beauty and remnant prairie systems were almost turned into a bottled water factory, and then of all things, a dump!? The trail Angel's Dead End is actually named after an investor, Mike Angel, who purchased this land in the late-1980s and was set on profiting from it. The valley seen off of Fox Run Ridge was partially formed by bulldozers (as well as the trail Dozer Cut) from when Angel owned the property. Thankfully local community members came together, put their feet down, and fought to protect this beautiful area. They're known as the Dump Busters!
Great Video! I just came back to this after watching it about a year ago. It really puts a smile on my face to see Mr. L exploring his favorite Loess Hills trails at Hitchcock Nature Center.
I know you posted a year ago. Some quick questions. Are you still happy with the Salsa bike? Changes? Why the Journeyman over the Fargo? Also, if you are doing the Ragbrai, any ideas on the alternate (parallel) routes? They are predicting a huge turnout. Enjoy your videos!
Thanks for the invite but I saw the wild stuff you guys go through on your channel, I think I’ll pass. Too wild for me 😅 Stay safe and have fun on your adventures!
