Iowa and Washington played an elimination game on the United States side of the bracket in the 2022 Little League World Series.
Covering sports in a unique way since 2018.

One of my favorite accomplishments is revolutionizing the way sports channels create thumbnails. I started making them with team logos on the left, and a game snapshot on the right, and I’ve gotten almost all of my video views with that style.
I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

True, but I put a lot of the blame on their third base coach, not sending runners when he should have cost them at least 2 runs.

You could also say Washington had some wild pitching...It's Little League for sure; but Washington was outplayed on this day...thats baseball.

One thing we learned - the umpires were really bad this year. Today's home plate ump had no business being out there. His balls and strike calls were embarrassing. He missed a bunch. Time to start paying the umpires and get rid of all the old, fat, bad umpires.

Oh like Oregon deserved it anymore? Got destroyed the first game against Washington and had Oregon won the 2nd game, it would because the 3rd base umpire screwed Washington out of the winning run

The lack of fundamentals in every game ive watched is worrying. Idk if its the coaching or the players but this is the worst llws ive ever watched

Totally agree. I was a very good Little League baseball player in the state of Washington years ago. The lack of basic fundamentals is sorta shocking. The Philippine girls softball team had better fundamentals and a basic understanding of how to play.

Bases loaded. One out for Washington. Fly ball to left. Runners tagging up. Runner from third doesn't go. Runner on second gets doubled up on a force out. He should have had to get tagged. Coaches from Washington blew it.

Hate to be too critical of young kids but that Washington team does not have high baseball IQ. Very poor play in a number of areas.

He was, they hadn't added the out yet to the board.. In the next scene after that, there's a strikeout shown w/ no outs but coach says "we got 2 outs now" & then it shows 2 outs on the board.

The pros could take note about speeding the game up, watch the kids do it. More people would watch if they didn’t take so long g between pitches. They make the boarding takin so long. They have to restart the batting gloves . Pitchers have to walk around a few. Just throw the dam ball already!

Well, they hosted in the USA. So you could say that about any country who hosted it. It takes a lot more for the international teams to get to Williamsport then the USA teams. By the time the international teams make it to Williamsport they are already representing their country, while USA is still fighting.

They will look back and realize that. It's a lot of emotion as a kid. Plus the parents and the cameras are so much pressure I must imagine

@@bmo14lax Yeah, there's a lot of emotion in the moment, but by the end of the tournament they'll be all smiles and having a blast with the other kids. Williamsport is like freakin' Disneyland. Plus they get to fly home with a ton of free swag. Edit: I just hope they never read the comments here lol.

Washington looked like it was the first time they ever played a baseball game. Horrible base running,errors,and a catcher that couldn’t hold onto a ball or make an accurate throw.

Had Oregon won, you probably wouldn't have said anything about the 3rd base umpire calling a fair ball, foul, and costing Washington the winning run.

@@clipcoug1139 Winning run is questionable. LF charging to that ball plus the runner being back at first makes it unlikely he gets all the way around to score. Would most likely be 2nd and 3rd, so very possible to still win the next at-bat, but not a guarantee.

Strange how after getting a near unfair and dirty win for Washington to advance here thanks to the aggressiveness of the third base coach, the same coach refuses to try and get any sort of aggression on the base paths today. Live by the sword die by the sword. Oregon would've given a better fight, or at least deserved to be here. Unfortunate story that will be lost over time.

I'm thinking that the little league world series should adopt the 3 games guaranteed format. It is still double elimination and yes you do play 3 games but the difference is if you lose your first two games you get another chance in the losers bracket.

They do have a 3 games guaranteed format. No chance to move on after 2 losses though . 3rd is basically an exhibition cross over bracket game. Your way (still alive after 2 losses)would not work too well with LLWS pitching rules as there would be an even longer route for that team to be able to move on through the bracket. As it is now, a team plays 7 potential games to reach the final if they lose its first game. Adding to that system you would need several more pitchers on the roster to be able to not exceed the innings pitched limit or extend the tournament by 3-4 more days.

thats how it used to be but they changed it to the bracket system in the mid 2000s. This year with the expansion the bracket seems all over the place with 4 unfortunate teams seemingly at random that have to play an extra game.
