I’m a doctor currently working as Instructor in Med School and it literally has been life changing for me too. I use it for everything. Preparation of the courses, researching, grading, you name it! Apps like Notability, Evernote, Dropbox, Notion, Trello, Essential Anatomy, Books and Kindle make my life so much easier and enjoyable! I also use the Smart Keyboard along with the Apple Pencil. Great video, by the way!
I use a 12.9" pro for my pre-med studies here in Australia & it has been life changing! - dramatic i know, but so true! Organic chemistry structures have never been so easy to draw on the grid paper with with the snap-to-straight lines! AMAZING!
Notability + Liquid Text + Flexcil for Math majors . Notability for organizing books, Liquid text for Studying and Flexcil for practicing math problems.
I am also a med student. Been using notability for a little less than an year now. It really is life changing for me. Just the kind of easy access it provides to all your notes of all subjects is awesome!! Being able to incorporate the some diagrams, pictures flow chart and being able to annotate them is liberating at so many levels. Haven't tried, but I m sure I will not like it if I ever to revert back to pen and paper for any reason.
junior neuroscience major and i love taking notes on my ipad. i currently have good notes, but i will probably also get notability for med scchool because of the recording function and rotating handwriting.
I'm getting the new 2018 iPad pro and I'm so excited to make notes on it! Typing on my laptop is good but I cant have that handwriting feel so I think the ipad will be really good
I’m done with med school, studying for joining my speciality, and yes, it really is life changing ! Interestingly, I love Fountain pens, and a really good fountain pen on Rhodia paper, feels eerily close to the Apple Pencil on a Matt screen protector .. it’s really that good! Yeah, notability has been amazing! Especially the fact that you can add pictures, links, audio in to the notes you take down, life changing ! You don’t need to move around and refer to a million books and websites when you make notes to read for yourself .. especially useful for revising things on the quick ! Carrying Thick books like Harrison’s, First Aid, etc is so much simpler on the iPad. No added weight, always there on your device, easy to find things in those books as the smart formatting is really easy to search within .. Now if only I could find a grip for Apple Pencil to make it thicker 🤔
Jennifer Samuels hey thanks for the reply.. i ended up going for the new 12.9 pro and and got the new pencil . Its more ergonomic to hold and I dont think i need an additional rip anymore. Also i dont think the grip would work too well with the new gen pencil.. but again, thanks for the response 😁
I do a combination of both, a lot of the books I buy have a code so that I can load them on to my device and take them with me. It is nice to use the physical books though if I am studying around bedtime so I minimize my exposure to screen light
Do you find it hard using the smaller iPad? I have the 12.9 which has plenty of space to do split screens. I was thinking of switching to 10.5 for portability but thinking it may be too small
I like the small size and find it does the job, but I’ve never used a 12 inch so it’s hard to compare, I think if I were to completely get rid of my laptop I might consider a larger iPad 😀
Gregory Carter I prefer the bigger one but because of the price I had to get the 10.5...(I draw on it and the split screen all the time and don’t have that much space to draw even when it’s turned the long way)
hey, I'm wondering if you use any screen protector for your ipad? and does it affect the function of the pencil? I'm just a bit concerned about scratching. Thank you
Hi Kian! Starting medschool in september and i was wondering if an ipad and macbook is enough for 1 year med school instead of having books and a lot of notes. Isn't it more beneficial to download and e-book version of the original one and also take notes on ipad notability?
I've just bought the ipad pro 128gb and im still hesitating if I should return it and buy the ipad air 4 256gb... I'm in med school so i will use it just for note taking, lectures, lots of books and pdfs... Should i stay with the pro 128gb (is enough?) or should I buy the Ipad air 4 256 gb?? The only thing that concerns me is the storage. Is 128gb enough for just medical school stuff or do I need more than that?mm
how many gb did you use for uni? wanting to buy an ipad as well for uni and med school but want to save money and need to know how much storage is needed.
Hey, great video. I was wondering how you write so neatly on the iPad with the pencil. For me, the pencil doesn't seem to pick up well enough on my writing and the writing ends up looking sloppy. Idk why it does this and was wondering if you have any tips. I am left handed although I personally don't think this is the issue, I've just had ppl bring it up so I thought I'd do the same.
Hmm I’m not too sure, I find my wiring with the iPad pretty similar to my paper writing. Sometimes if I haven’t cleaned my screen in a while, the pencil isn’t fully charged, or the tip of the pencil is coming loose (the screw part) the writing gets a little wonky... hope you’re able to trouble shoot it!
Love your video. What storage size of iPad did you buy? I’m also in med school, I’m planning to buy an IPad but I don’t know how much space will I need it to have 🙇🏽♀️
Mine is 128 GB, and it's soo hard to tell how much space you'll need. I also bought extra storage on iCloud which has been helpful and great for syncing with my macbook :)
i have a surface laptop and ive been trying to move towards electronic note taking using OneNote. Im just wondering if its worth getting an ipad or should i get a surface pro tablet and get the microsoft pen? is there a real difference with the apple pencil and the microsoft pencil? any one ever compared the two?
Adrian Fazliji I would...I love the ipad pro and pencil! It is so helpful. It is literally life changing because now I don’t have to worry about forgetting something like a pen or notebook. Plus it is super light in backpacks
@@KianMDvlog ms1 here. I think I am slowly converting to more and more digital notes... purely pen and paper-based notetaking is inefficient (search, retrieval, etc) due to the amount of materials. I'll def give ipad a try. A classmate of mine uses a kind of a silicone rubbery type case with a cutout for pen next to the screen with a built-in flap screen cover, I might try that case later on. Thank you so much!
What do u recommend iPad pro 11" or iPad 9.7" 2018 model? For medical student for study and not making and study video watching purpose, who doesn't own any apple devices Thanks for a nice video
I'm a medical student myself and I've been using 2018 9.7" one. It's pretty much the same. Yes, the processor, smoothness, gaming experience are much better in pro but for me, notes and study primarily, they don't hold any difference
Also just got the 2018 9.7”, also have a MacBook Pro, so I just use my iPad for notes. I think you don’t need the Pro unless you are a media student editing or illustrating. If you’re just making notes the iPad is plenty fast and super portable
See ya this september and i'll tell ya about how i use my ipad in med school this isn't an ad, im just giving myself a motivation boost CAUSE I NEED SO FREAKING MUCH. The exam is on 15th and 16th of July. I'll probably have the results by August. And i'll start med school HOPEFULLY. Now im gonna go kill those textbooks, and will come back to let yall know lol I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THIS EXAM SO THIS WILL BE MY SECOND TIME BUT IT'S MY TIME. (mic drop as a pre-med)
