iPad Lock Button Not Working After Screen Replacement

This iPad Mini 4 will power on and off with the lock button but you cannot put the screen into sleep mode and it will only wake the device if you long press the button which will then prompt the power off option. Mu understanding is that this is caused by a soldering defect where the home button interfaces with the digitizer.

I have found a workaround for this issue with SOME iPad Mini 4's although it doesn't work on all of them. Go to Settings, Display & Brightness. If you see an option in there that says Lock / Unlock, turn it off and the home button now works. However, this option does not show up on all versions of iOS. The option is to set your iPad to lock automatically when you close your cover, so the circuit on the new screen must mess with this in some way. Although turning this option off will allow the lock button to work, it will then disable the ability to lock it with a cover, so this is only useful if you don't use that option.

Thank god for your comment I just spent over 200$ to get my iPad refurbished for a gift to my son and when I got it back and was trying it out and noticed my lock function wasn’t working. I brought it up to the tech and her response was oh it was like that when you you brought it in……. Absolutely not I use this iPad religiously for over 6-7 years and I’d notice if one day it started acting up. I have the iPad Air 2. I’m was very upset. All this over a tiny crack in the screen I wanted fixed along with a full cleaning. Now time to fix the other issues that have now arised from this woman

This information is incorrect, you have jumped to a conclusion before fully investigating the problem, you did not desolder the ic sensor and resolder it to the new screen.

5 YEARS LATER AND THIS VIDEO SAVES ME😂😂😂 I buy a screen replacement and does not work like this, but my new screen doesnt have the proximity sensor, i saw it, desolder from older one and it works 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤

Is not a defective item, you need to transfer also the IC sensor to the new screen...

i have exactly same problem with iPad 4 Retina... it is also doesn't want to delete app. If i push on X it doest respond but sensor is ok and i can relocate app on different folder etc.

I damaged/broke the connector of the home button and with the new screen home button and lock button wont work. great stuff :) thanks for your help tho.
