Iv been repairing iPads and iPhones for a while now . When i taught my self I remember breaking many iPads. You give clear instructions and sometimes it’s nice to come back to this vid to just remember what I’m doing . Great repair overall
Thank you very much! Thanks to your video I just fix my daughter’s iPad. Now she can take her classes, homework, and video chats with no problems! God bless you!
That’s so awesome great job, 90% of these iPads are the same so you got that in your back pocket if it happens again or someone’s else’s does. Thank you
Hey from Redhill, Surrey, England. I've just replaced an ipad 2 mini screen with the amazing help of your tutorial. It turned out perfect. Only silly thing, was i got quite a few finger prints on the LCD screen, which took alot of care to remove. I would definitely recommend latex gloves for this task. Thank you so much for making this video.
Thank you very much Tim for posting this video. My autistic son broke his ipad 2 mini screen that he uses for school with the speech app he needs to communicate and I didn't have the money to replace it with a new one. After buying a replacement screen kit from Amazon for $19.99 I followed your very clear and super helpful instructions just pausing it at every stage while I took my time. I did magnetise a screwdriver which helped enormously when putting the screws back in and I used my hairdryer which really made a difference getting the glass off. Thank you again for taking the time to make this video you have helped so many people by doing so and a huge high five from my son as he is up and running again :) :) :)
That is so awesome, I really appreciate the comment. I’m sure your son is happy you got it fixed for him. If it happens again you will know what to do .. I hope it doesn’t but great job on your part
Thank you for helping me replace my cracked screen!! Harder and easier than I thought. I was terrified for most of it, but with you help it is all fixed. THANK YOU!!!
Just fixed my kid's Ipad mini for under $18 for materials from Amazon and all thanks to your very well explained video this mama managed to get it done!
I change my iPad mini 2 touchscreen last night, thanks to you and few others RU-vidrs! here is from my experience: -if you get fingerprints on the LCD, you can remove it by rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth (or at least tissue), then gently wipe the LCD. it won't be the same, but almost unnoticeable -BE CAREFUL of scratching your LCD when opening the screen! I scratch mine, but it is still working properly, albeit you can see the scratch -be mindful of your screws. I lost two of them, but they still work properly. I found them later on after I put the glue on, and too lazy to reopen it lol. hopefully, it won't be a problem
It was a little late for me, but thanks for taking the time to mention cutting the tape at the bottom of the screen in order to flip the lcd, at least 2 other disassembly videos skipped that crucial part, ended up cracking my lcd, but i was able to recover the data I needed off of it.
You all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the account password. I love any tips you can give me!
@Jericho Casey thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thank you so much for posting the video I have an iPad mini 2 a 1490 and my kids broke the screen so I ordered a digitizer followed your instructions to the tea got all the way to testing it out and realized that the LCD was also damaged in the fall so now I have to order an LCD and hopefully that will take care of the problem but I really enjoyed your video and the fact that I was able to follow along with replacing the screen and will finish when the new LCD arrives
That’s so awesome! If you run into a problem let me know I’ll try to help but I’m sure when you replace the lcd it will be like new, gadgetfix.com has some really awesome prices and screens
Tried following a different video but it wasn't quite right, wrong number of screws, thought I was going to break the LCD screen. This one was perfect, even naming the model numbers, showed the stage I was struggling with, I just needed to peel back the two stickers. Really handy, thanks for making it.
my screen replacement kit is coming on the 14 and this video made me feel less nervous about the whole process, definitely going to re watch it then :)
Most important thing is just take your time and be gentle it’s not hard. Every time I made a mistake I was rushing or used to much force, electronics are fragile espically once you start to open them.you can do it
Ugh. Bought new battery and digitizer and followed the vid. I was extremely careful with the lcd and removed it like you showed. It had no damage. When I put everything back together, I don’t have any LCD backlight. 1) yes, I powered it off before working on it. 2) yes, I checked and reseated all the cables multiple times. 3) yes, I checked the pins and sockets and all are good. 4) when I plug in the charger, it makes the ding sound. 5) superbright led flashlight shows LCD works with no backlight. 6) Seeing a lot of comments for similar problem, I think cutting the digitizer cable short circuited something and damaged the lcd. Recommend not cutting the cable and just waiting to take it off with the LCD. Now, if I get a replacement LCD, no guarantee it will work because the display chip may have gotten fried. Out $65 to need to spend more money for “maybe”. Highly recommend NOT cutting the digitizer cable. It’s a gamble. This video calls out to not even disconnect the digitizer or lcd cable until the battery cable is disconnected. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q9ecsL2Q_hE.html Everything else is spot on.
Got you ....ive never had a problem done it on literally 100’s of iPads maybe I just got lucky. Sounds like yes you shorted something out. The tools you used were they a set you bought if Amazon gotta be careful on touching tools to other components in phone also have you tried a hard reset on the iPad... I would definitely try a hard reset hold own the home and power button for like a min... Also hold a flashlight up to the screen after you tap the power button sometimes the screen will go extremely dim and you have to use a flashlight to see the screen and turn up the brightness try that and see if that’s helps ive just never had a problem before cutting the digitizer I always like to check all options hopefully it’s just super dim it just needs a rest plz let me know before you try to get a new lcd
🤘🏻😄 This is awesome! I fixed my by following your instructions. Thank you so much! By the way, side magnet 🧲 is pretty strong. I had trouble to get the small screws out, so I just left in there. But it still work so far.
Finally someone who can speak english and not some indian filming on a phone who i cannot understand, i used a suction cup puller to help me get off the screen it really helped
Sometimes it sucks, depending on how danger the screen is just be careful and go slow keep heating and prying take breaks if you need to just don’t rush it or apply to much heat on the land for very long. But you can do it
Thanks I was successful to replace shattered screen of ipad mini 2 for 20 bucks and 2 hours of my time that local fix guys asked for 199. My job was not perfect but now i can use ipad again that I almost gave up on.
Thank you for doing this video. I kept listening to it as I went thru these steps mostly because of the soothing, calming voice. Tips: separate your screws by size or job if you're a beginner. Could you maybe run thru the tools by name and identify them for slower people (me). Also, i had dented one of my corners, too. I saw another video on this topic (but his voice wasn't comforting) but he said try a small flathead screwdriver and gently pry the dent out. I did. Miracles ensued! I am posting this vid on my FB page (if that's ok?) Thanks Again!, Cherie
Absolutely and yes I will definitely, do all of it on the next one thank you so much for your feedback. Not a big fan of using the screwdriver on corners but sometimes that’s your only option
Great video Thanks helped me perfectly every step also I used the extra tape which other videos don’t recommend. Pretty easy fix when you take your time .
Thank You !! Felt a bit intimidated at first, but by being careful & slow, all worked out perfectly!.... Darn those tiny little screws though! All is perfect now!....Except, if I could upgrade 15 operating system. Ha ! Cheers! Thank you again.
What is the best width of the 3M Tape to use on the A1432? I found several sellers at Ebay that sells the "phone repair kits" with tools, etc, but the several sellers offering different widths of tape from 1mm to 3mm. The vid you linked below is no longer. Great video, one of the best parts is no loud obnoxious background music to aggravate and distract when trying to learn something. Keep up the good work sir,
@@elitesportsmedia,, I think so too with your video here,, seriously. Both "screen kit" and "tape/tool kit" in the pipeline from Ebay,,, two different sellers. Thanks again
for anyone attempting this, make sure your replacement screen has the sleep/wake sensor. i think it's integrated into the screen cable, then solder points, and goes to the home button.
Great video. I like how you sped the video up and went back and narrated. Made for a quicker and more concise video. Some links for parts would be helpful. Like the tape as well as preferred dealers for screens and digitizer.
Great video! I successfully repaired my iPad screen. One thing you might want to mention are the “Smart Cover magnets”. I had to look up another page to see where those go since they came off with the broken screen removal. Again, thank you for this excellent video.
Great video, and very informative, however, I ran into one small issue, I replaced the screen step by step of your video, only problem is the touch isn’t working only the home button
The best thing to do is open it back up reconnect the digitizer a couple times you might have a bad digitizer, look at the connections look real close at the connection there should be gold connections make sure none of them are missing
I watched about half the video, I skipped parts, but I just replaced digitizer, lcd and battery. I broke the lcd, I was being VERY careful but I think I flexed it ever so slightly when I laid it back to unplug. Wow are those things brittle.
Hello sir! Loved your this video really. Actually I've given my iPad mini 2 to an local shop at India where i live, he cracked my iPad's LED panel while changing the touch panel and he lost all screws of my iPad and there no battery cover or heat Cover what ever that is and my i pad has missing so many small things that i realised just now by seeing your video, that shop is not refunding me any amount they just handed it over to me and I'm back to home crying. I have some data inside my iPad and want my old iPad mini back so Badly is there any chance that i can get it repaired in budget? Please reply me.
Yes all you really need is a new lcd, and a digitizer. If you will send me your model number I’ll get you prices, you can also order a set of iPad screws from eBay or amazon. That’s messed up they won’t refund it, that’s not right send me the model number
Thanks man... those two pieces of tape on the lcd screen... brah... nothing about em’ in the instruction sheet... that would have cost me my lcd. Chris from fresno Ca... giggity giggity.👍
I usually get a small file and scrape the dented area out so that screen will sit flush. With that breach in the adhesive, screen is more likely to work it's way open.(especially with young children)
ah i bought a couple ipad mini 2s off of ebay for really cheap and i hope to make one good one. one has perfect glass, water damaged LCD but good motherboard, while the other has shattered glass, likely good LCD (was being sold as is so i hope it is) but was IC locked when i looked up the serial. however it cost me like $40 total for them which i can easily make a profit off of if the repair goes well
Yeah I wish I knew how to unlock the IC, I know how to jailbreak but it’s only good till you have to update and I have bypassed the password but only for a short time
@@elitesportsmedia I’m going to share this with you. I just opened the iPad mini A1432 using the heat mat. . For the settings, use iPad mode, set to the temperature to 70c, and place the iPad on the mat for 2-3 minutes max so it would not damage the internal hardware. You can use a suction cup and use those picks. It easily comes off plus you will have less mess to worry about.
This is a great tutorial and I fixed my iPad mini just fine with this! The screen is kinda loose after putting it back in and I’m scared it’s going to fall out. Any suggestions on how to tighten it up?
Double sided tape, is the best option, you might have to warm it up again and re lay the tap make sure you get all the old tape off so it makes a secure hold to the iPad frame
Tim Wetzel Lol well it gets even better, after fixing the tape issue I ripped the ribbon that attaches from the screen so I have to order a new screen now lol😑
Usally less than hour espically if done it before, if there’s a bunch of tiny glass I can see 2-3 hrs easy espically if you take you time and don’t rush . But I would say as long as you don’t run i to any hiccups hr to hr and half
Great video thanks for sharing. My problem is that it didn't fire up but pushing the power and home worked however I have a series of vertical multi colored lines about an inch wide on one side. Does that mean the LCD is SHOT? Thanks for your expertise.
Thanks for tutorial, it helped quite a bit. One suggestion I have is maybe at important or crucial/delicate parts maybe slow down the video to normal speed and go through it as normal, explaining more step by step, as had to pause the video quite a bit in those parts. Over all good video and thank, hope you have a great day, and keep being awesome
Your absolutely right, gonna do that on the next one. Sometimes I take for granted that this is possibly the first time some are doing this. I really appreciate that. Thank you Robby
@@elitesportsmedia np😊 Thanks for hearing out my advice as well. Btw do you think you'd be doing a Samsung s8 curved screen placement any time soon? Just got a samsung s8 but the screen is a bit cracked so wanting to see if I can replace it, or if it be better getting someone else to do it. Cheers and hope you have a great day, keep fixing and keep being awesome and being you✌
great video! sadly one of the four screws that hold the lcd in place was stripped from factory, lol.... ive tried almost everything and cant get it out.
Dang yeah that suck since it’s the lcd you gotta be careful. Yeah bigger screwdriver Super glue the screw driver Put a rubber band in the striped hole and twist If you have a drill that forms a triangle at the top you can try to force it over and pull out I small pair of pliers turning the screw driver head Or even if you can get a pair of snips to cut the screw in half, just be careful about touching metal parts you can fry things over done a lot of stuff to get them out
@@elitesportsmedia thanks for the tips! I just got it out now. I used my dremel and a really small engraving bit to make a groove in the head and used a flathead screwdriver instead of the shitty Phillips one.
@@elitesportsmedia yeah I usually use a cut off disc to make the groove on bolts when I work on cars etc but it was scary close to the lcd this time so engraving bit felt safer. Guys like you make the world a better place one video at a time, thank you for uploading stuff like this.
Hi Tim, Thanks for the video. Unfortunately something happened and LCD is not working now. I have followed step by step, the only step I mixed up was unplugging the LCD before the battery, apart from that, I did all the same. Any ideas why it's not turning on? I have checked the 3 connectors 100 times. Thanks again.
So I ordered the screen I needed. I actually used this video to do everything and now I think I went too far because I just need the new screen on. Now it’s so hard getting these small screws back in
If its not magnetized you can use a magnet and magnetize you screw driver makes it easier . To hold onto the small screws . You just take you magnet and drag it over the end of the screw driver a couple in the same direction helps a lot but the screws are timy
Tim Wetzel mine is magnetized also gotta figure out how to put the screen on right. Like it’s just so frustrating and I get aggravated so easily. Started last night and I’m gonna try to get it done later today.
Tim, Awesome video! I got the screen swapped out. Worked perfect.... for 6 hours. Now the screen is not responding. Buttons work but touching screen is not. Any ideas? I took it apart and unplugged them and reconnected them. Same issue. Thanks for any advice!
I would of done the same thing, you could of just got a bad screen, does your other screen still function at all. If it does even if it’s cracked I would put it on and test it out. Then put the new one back on I really feel like you got a faulty screen and need to get a refund or replacement I can send you a link of a screen to get I don’t have many problems with these guys let me know the models.
@@elitesportsmedia Thanks for the reply and suggestion, Tim! I will order a new screen and give it a shot. The old screen was totally shattered and I had essntiall tear it apart to get it off. The screen I ordered was from TechOrbits off of amazon. I'd love a suggestion if you know a great brand.
m.gadgetfix.com/white-touch-screen-glass-digitizer-ic-flex-connector-assembly-for-ipad-mini-1-2-3124.html Try this one always been great company and great affordable parts
Yea this ipad mini 2 i found on the side of the road 😂 but only the top half of the screen works bottom half does not react to any swiping or tapping so need a new screen hoping this video helps 🙏🙏🙏
Good afternoon! I only have my iPad for home use. Might use it 2 or 3 times a week.. Do I really have to get the tape if this is the only thing I am fixing?
No you don’t just press it down around the edges very well, and put a case on it to help hold it in place. I’ve done a few where I have only used the adhesive on the screen and it’s worked but tape+adhesive has worked best for me but you should be fine
Where did you get your replacement screen from? I used one I got off Amazon with a sleep connection and the screen seemed to work, but not the home button. I tried readjusting like you said, but the home button still wasn't responding. I tried to install the old screen back, but I'm afraid the touch pad is too damaged after I took it off (the home button still worked though). I went ahead and purchased a different replacement digitizer without the sleep connection, so I'm hoping it will work.
I would do the same just to make sure tans if it works seee if you can send the other back, it sometimes a hard to tell if you don’t have multiple working screens what the real problem is
Good morning, Tim. I replaced a screen last night at the fire department, and when I checked to make sure it worked after connecting the LCD and digitizer, I had a thick white bar from top to bottom. It came on, but that bar of death was there. Do you know how that may have happened? I thought I was very careful. Thanks✊🏾✊🏾
