I used an iPad Mini for like, 3 years so I can vouch for how good it is, I've dropped and only the corner cracked a bit, it was so unnoticeable that i didn't figure out until later in the day

Actually, this is an important factor because keys have a hardness around 3-4, so your keys fumbling in your bag wouldn't scratch that screen. It is also important for the camera in the back because apple says those camera glasses use "sapphire" crystal, where real sapphire cyrstal has a hardness of 9, preventing scratches from almost anything except diamonds and tungsten carbide. Plus sapphire crystal is not super expensive, you can find it in $50 watches as Jerry has shown in other videos. This also means that apple has been lying for years about this lens crystal hardness marketing bs.

And apple does use "Sapphire" because in his test he found traces of sapphire powder wich is not the same thing but still better than nothing I guess or else they would get sued for false advertising.
