They said they don’t have any solid ideas for a calculator on the iPad that would make sense. They don’t just want it to be an enlarged version of the existing app cause then you can just use your phone
I don't really feel this way at all. I feel like android gestures make more sense to me, are easier to perform, and I dont need a little line at the bottom of the screen to remind me how to use it. I have an M1 iPad Pro and S22 and use both all day, every day...
@@morriswu3953 no you don’t. I use calculator plus v2 and it has no ads or in app purchases. The problem is Apple promotes the apps with ads and in app purchases to the top of the App Store when searching for an app.
Bought the iPad pro HDMI cable 2 weeks ago to see if I can be more productive. It was a disappointment. Wanted to return the cable but decided to wait until WWDC. Hopefully stage manager can makes my works more productive.
Such a pity they didn’t add stage manger to 2020 iPad Pros which so many people spend 1000 of dollars on. IPad Pro 2020 is already getting update locked after only being 1 year older then iPad Pro m1
Is there any update for Files App in iPadOS for the following - Sync Cloud Drive Services like Mac - Format Folder - Folder Size - Open with Option - Open Desktop Version for Adobe & Microsoft Office
I might be freaking out a little too much this is totally a Dream come true that i have wanted for over 9 years in school and pesonal use, i think i might finally shed a tear thank you for this one
Just got the update downloaded on my ipad pro 12..9 m1 and its weird that games have barely any fps drops compared to before literally night and day idk if the ram is now in use or smth but my goodness is it actual butter great first impressions but will be buggy as all betas are
So is stage manager only available for m1 iPads? Or could my iPad Air 4 do it too? I’d rather not upgrade but if I find myself using stage manager on my laptop a lot then I might have to
Still short of an actual desktop OS. How about if you have a Magic Keyboard connected, make the apps look like their MacOS equivalent as the UI instead of having two different interfaces to confuse power users? Or if it detects a BT KB/Mouse connected, the same experience as MacOS? Yeah I know, they'll lose Macbook sales but it's bad they're crippling the iPad too much. Stage Manager is a good first step though.
Agreed, I find it funny the they're trying to position the ipad as a laptop / desktop replacement yet throughout the whole video he used the touchscreen to navigate the os not the included touchpad. Ipad still seems like an oversized phone with power hardware that is wasted. Your idea is good tho, similar approach Samsung and Lenovo have, when docked to the included keyboard it goes into desktop mode, when undocked it's just a normal tablet.
Big Android fan here.. This is actually a LOT like Samsung Dex but its much cleaner and more cohesive in the context of iOS/iPAD OS.. Being able to save your window layout and drag and drop between displays is cool too.. Personally, I like it. I don't even mind the 8 app multitasking limit because honestly, most people don't use more than maybe 8 -10 active apps on screen anyway (and Safari or Google Chrome tabs doesn't count). I hope that Apple allows the user to customize the dock and background on the external display (Like Samsung Dex). That simple change would make the experience on the external display FEEL like a separate space as opposed to just an extended display.. I never thought I would see Apple do something like this. Android is known to experiment with lots of ideas and take risks on new ones.. But this particular idea is risky for Apple because it makes the iPAD SIGNIFICANTLY more productive. What prevents the casual consumer from opting for a M1 powered iPAD at half the price when it can effectively do the same thing.. When power is no longer an issue, all that people really care about are the apps. And if the apps are there, then well.. just buy an iPAD. Why spend the money? And Apple loves to make money.. I didn't see this coming.. Even though iPAD OS is highly optimized for Tablet/Desktop like interfaces, I still think Android is where its at because Android as an operating system is better positioned technically to execute this kind of idea.. Google however, neeeds to get off their laurels and actually start actively encouraging the development of Tablet/Desktop class UI's and apps.. Starting with their own (Google) apps ideally, because I think this use case scenario represents the evolution of personal computing..
Multiple resizable tabs are cluttered in android...even covering entirely other tabs below a tab when tab on front is resized improperly. Here in iPad OS tgat wont happen as tabs below always have even small part visible
@@itsphillang4950 android doesn't have tabs. Do you mean Chrome? If you dislik it it on Android just install another browse. Edge is good and handles tabs better.
Mate this is no where like Dex. Dex is a complete OS built on Linux and you can do a ton on it. However, Samsung tabs themselves are slow af. But I would love something like dex to come to ipad os as that be the best way to really make use of the M1 chip.
I have the pro m1 and all these new “features” are pretty useless to me, all i wanted was full 3rd party sideloading support so i guess imma simply wait on ipadOs14 for awhile until a jailbreak eventually gets released
Very cool facetime features, games and other useless features to the M1 Ipad but why do I still need to carry my Macbook Air if I want to do any sort of actual work as a web developer despite both devices having the exact same hardware????????
The software is still very different, more smaller icons exist on Mac which isn’t on iPad due to its simplicity, and obviously the pro apps like Final Cut Pro
@@MasterKey2004 I have used sidecar on my Ipad Mini 6 and also on my 12.9 inch pro m1. There is vast options about the scaling on macos . Especially on the 10.9 and 12.9 inch this should be not a problem. They are just lazy and dont want to take any sort of risks
then ipad sales will cannibalize Mac sales. By holding iPadOS back they make you choose to either have a $1k+ Mac or Mac+iPad. But they don't want you to be able to choose a $600 iPad instead. It's purely a sales/business choice
That Collaboration has been in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for years. Its at the heart of both of them. Amazed it's taken Apple so long to progress from sending attachments. Tab Groups looks neat though.
The very best to come out of this announcement is talk and potential about Desktop Class API software versatility. iPadOS has yet to demonstrate its own Hydrid Desktop Class UI environment that rivals Android and even Windows Surface Pro Devices. O M G that would be amazing. Unleash the beast Touch Productivity Titan Code Performance Mode.
@@akwaugo8566 if you watched the full video, before they announced the new multitasking and full external monitor support they explained what it is in M1, about memory allocations etc. So I suspect that the new software was build around the capability of the M1 and A-series silicon memory or architecture might not be enough for this feature.
It's funny how Apple makes the best chips in the market, yet they are saying the iPad Pro A12Z/X cannot run resizable windows, while Android phones have been able to do that for a couple of years now, even on the lower end devices 😥 Another prime example of Apple reserving their 'new' features to the higher end devices and forcing us to upgrade
I feel like apple must use Microsoft products for the office setting because it’s office apps generally suck. So, it’s funny that they show professionals using their apps for collaboration
As a QA Engineer I work both on Windows and MacOS and Teams has been a nightmare on both. Recently I switched companies and I was praying that they were using something else, but hello darkness my old friend, I’ve come to lag with you again. Because a black screen softly creeping, Changed the settings while I was sleeping…
Probably need the m1 to enable all of this, they did say 8 apps could be open at once. Plus connecting to an external monitor, maybe even a 4K display would take a lot of computing power
@@SaphireEblem I’ve jaikbroken my iPad 2020 before and had a bunch of windows open. It’s more than capable. The sizing on monitors you’d think software could take care too. Honestly think it’s a marketing tactic
Yep, this is why I'm starting to really hate apple. Apple has decided to stop supporting 2 year old perfectly good devices with software updates. That means, you are tied to apple's schedule to spend money. I'm done with their business tactics.
I feel the same way. Resizeable, overlapping windows can exist without stage manager, and they have on desktop OS's for decades. The stage manager just takes up screen real estate.
I can easily vision a future to where apple offers 2 versions of iPad Pro. Version A: The traditional IOS style iPad pro that we know with MacOS “like” features but still very much a mobile experience. Version B: iPad Pro with full blown Mac OS, not user changeable after purchase, and will cost substantially more than the IOS version of iPad. That way people who keep asking for MacOS on iPad/ a touch screen MacBook can have what they have been asking for at a price. I see no instance to where apple just gives iPad pro MacOS application’s without the traditional Apple tax.
Or just: iPad Air should have iPad os and iPad Pro should have Mac OS Also You can turn an iPad into kind of a MacBook using a Mac mini and Luna display
Stage Manager. Now that's impressive. Even if as others have said its basically a copy of Samsung Dex on the Galaxy Tab S7/S8. Will be much better though because the apps are already optimised.
It's not a copy of dex. Dex is a completely different os in Samsung tabs built on Linux. You can do everything you can do on a laptop on dex. If something like that comes to ipad, basically Mac os, that would be brilliant.
MacOS on iPad would cannibalise the middle sector MacBooks - ok but is that a sufficient long term strategy? Who needs the iPad Pro if it does essentially iPad Air stuff. Make MacOs a pro mode thing so you have to buy the Apple Keyboard Case to activate it Sell iPad Pro for 899 or more plus that case Lowe the Price of the MacBook to 999 and you still have a lot of customers in that area - am I wrong? Probably :/
IPad Pro with Magic Keyboard is more expensive than middle MacBooks tho… if everyone that was going to buy an entry level MacBook Air , bought an 256-1Tb iPad Pro 12.9 with it’s Magic Keyboard instead Apple would be actually earning more money
Bruh stage manager is only available on M1 iPads 💀💀💀 And one more thing is that there’s still NO CALCULATOR. Also the lockscreen customization isn’t on iPad
@@TVStations I think it’s coming in the next build; (unless they scrapped it) since on one of their screenshots posted on their website there was the new LS on the iPad
The only problem is, the economy has gone kaput and all my friends have all switched to android phones and sometimes tablets with their reasons being ‘sorry I can’t afford Apple anymore’ after their last devices broke down. Most never have a single MacBook or mac. So, I end up being the only one with these devices 😢 Thank Goodness all my family and relatives are still firmly in the Apple camp.
Apple was so bitter about the poor sales they arbitrarily locked features to M1 to push sales, people who own the 2020 iPad Pro and Air (only 2 years old at this point and plenty powerful) are feeling pretty betrayed rn.
