I'm confused what makes the air an air. Usually there's an iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. The defining feature of the air being that it is lighter and thinner than all models.
This happened with Macbooks at a certain point. Air just means their value line at this point. Maybe one day Apple will flip it once technology allows but I think a lot of it is determined by the screen. Cause the new panel I believe is much thinner.
@@Michael-ur5qb I just went on the website and the short description given was “Serious performance in a thin and light design.” Even though it’s thicker and heavier than the pro and obvi heavier than the 10th gen….
I feel like the normal iPad will become the SE model and the current airs will become the new iPad. This will make pricing for mini make more sense. Since it’s more than SE but little less than new iPad (air)
Good detail information 👏🏻. Saw lot of others comparison videos but was not able to make the decision, but your video just cleared my mindset to get ipad pro
Funny it was not the display which got me to go Pro. It was the accumulation of Face ID, 120 Promotion, better camera for document scanning, way better keyboard with function row keys, track pad that actually works consistently and the noticeable weight difference.
Thank you for the breakdown of differences and which is useful for which purpose. You were concise, shared practical points and untangled a lot of the technical jargon I came across raving the latest and greatest. I walked away with a better understanding of the two. Thank you!
After using my 2018 iPad Pro for years I now realize I rarely used any of the “pro capabilities.” I did use my Pencil frequently so it sucks that I can no longer use it on the newer models. But alas, it’s time for a new one and the iPad Air 13inch seems to be the right fit for me. Thanks for this informative video 👌🏽
WOW! Now THAT’S what I call a great summation! Impressive, Joshua! I’m replacing my iPad Pro 12.9” 4th Generation (YES - it’s THAT old!) with the iPad Pro 13”. My current iPad has 512 GB capacity, and since I never got close to reaching its limit, I’m sticking with the 512 again. Again, thanks for the fab video!!
just came to say that speed wise, u can definitely tell a difference between air and pro. i had the air for school but even when using just notability, i noticed it lags a lot when i have multiple tabs open. id have to refresh the app multiple times a day, which gets really annoying when youre already stressed out about studying. the scrolling is also so much better due to the 120hz. minor stuff but it’s something to consider if youre super picky.
What I am looking for is the comparison of displays between iPad and iPad Air, because iPad Air is my max budget limit but iPad budget is my comfortable zone.
@@AmanXstream nice! I see a good deal on a air m2 it comes with the education discount and a 140 dollar gift card so I’m gonna use that for a pencil I think I’ll go for that one cuz it has more memory in it
You did a great job explaining the differences and similarities of the IPad Pro and Air. My old IPad Pro has four speakers, touch button at the bottom, which I prefer. I just want the touch button and good sound quality. What is your suggestion? I am leaning to the 11 inch, the 13 is too big.
I got the M2 iPad Air 13” instead of the pro. It does everything that I need as a musician. It’s definitely a good value. I can’t justify paying $500 more just for a better screen and 120hz refresh rate.
Thanks for the comparison video Joshua! Would you know if there are significant differences in performance when editing with Davinci Resolve? Or playing EAFC24 via Remote Play?
The most noticeable difference for me is how shockingly light the Pro is, with or without the keyboard. The Pro has a better screen, sound, is more powerful and will be viable with iPadOS for much longer. If you, like me, keep your iPads for 5-10 years, the difference in price is trivial. Unless you are dead broke, you should always get the Pro model. And you should get the minimum of 1TB as you get more RAM with it.
How do you keep your iPad alive for 10yrs? Serious question. My iPad dies around 4-5 yrs. My only iPad that lasted more than 5yrs is iPad 2th generation.
@@daydreameraj9777 I have an older iPad Pro, almost 6 years if I’m not mistaken, and it’s still going strong. Had some minor issues, like Face ID not working for a few months, but everything somehow fixed itself sooner or later.
Hey, I’m in high school and I have $1200 to spend on an iPad personally I do not like laptops so I’m getting an iPad But I’m planning on getting the brand new Apple M4 iPad 13 inch pro should I get it? Or should I go with the brand new iPad Air
I currently have iPad Pro 10.5” 2018 and planning on upgrade soon. Which one to buy, iPad Air M2 13” or iPad Pro M4 11”? Considering the price is similar and I still need to buy apple pencil as well. I am using it for media & note taking
I feel like the M4 ipad pro oled would be better since its panel is can output 1000 nits of brightness for SDR content and 1600 nits for HDR content. The ipad air gets 'only' 600 nits of brightness for the 13inch model. You may benefit from getting the M4 pro with thr nano textured screen if you feel like brigtness will be an issue.
I've been using the 11" m2 air to run foreflight w/sentry, I fly in the desert and am very happy with it, its plenty bright enough to be a kneeboard or up on the yoke. I know a lot of folks flying around with the mini as well.
they may be amazingly capable in terms of sheer processing power but seriously what are the use cases where the Pro is going to pay for itself given it’s quite high entry price?
What would you recommend for a digital painter working on digital art which are most of the time realistic? I work 85% indoors and mostly use procreate and clipstudio. Should I get the air or pro?
Might be a dumb question, but I’ll be using this to edit professional photos and videos. Since the display is so advanced, will it translate once it’s printed? Or will it through things off?
You won't really notice a difference in this case. But I think as a really professional videos and photo editor, you'll definitely be wanting that 120Hz OLED panel.
iPad Air being $600 and not having a good enough display is ridiculous I understand you are getting a M2 Chip but they could of added a slightly brighter screen with a bit more contrast for LCD screen to make it more better with watching videos and reducing glare
I returned my 13 inch for the 11. 13 is better for multitasking (I’m an engineering student and I think it will be helpful for taking notes while opening a reading materials) but it’s too big and less convenient to bring around compared to the 11 inch.
@@this_katharsis2227getting a new iPad before going into the nursing program for RN, wanting the 11 as my current 12.9” is big… why do you suggest the 13?
I am glad to get iPad Air 13’ :-) I had iPad many years ago, one of the old ones now, but recently decided to buy a new for work purposes. Also it’s great for content consumption while doing things. I think for majority of population iPad Air is a better option without spending too much on Pro. But still, a good amount of money for a great quality. The difference in display is barely noticeable anyway for a human eye.
I have the m2 ipad air and not happy with it. Apps such as Facebook keep crashing and ask me for capcha all the time. Not interested in this so I keep my older iphones unupdated so I don't get this crap
Medibang paint and ibis paint. Ive been using these for 4+ years and in my opinion those two are the best free ones out there. They also both have a cloud saving function and can be used on desktops or phones so u can continue drawing on another device. Ur files also wont be lost if something unexpected happens :). Medibang is more like clip studio or photoshop while ibispaint is more similar to procreate. There are also a lot of amazing custom brushes on the internet for ibispaint for literally everything. But ofc if u have some spare cash i would recommend investing in procreate as it really is the best drawing app for the ipad. I hope this helped :)
Great video! But Im still on the edge and not 100% sure hoping that someone in the comments or yourself could add more guidance? I'm looking at upgrade my current Ipad for the M chip. Now, I've gotten into very novice video editing for Instagram and I'd like to be able to edit videos from my Insta 360 while I'm traveling. I can fully understand that the Pro would most likely do a better job, but will the air and it's M2 still be good? Or is it worth it that much more to get the Pro? I don't plan on doing any professional editing, this is very much a hobby and for fun on IG when riding my motorcycle and taking videos. Which is why I'm unsure. Since i'm not going professional, I'm wondering if the Air will do just fine which would allow me to get the magic keyboard aswell... Anybody have any advice?
It is cos all the iPad Pro’s aside the m2 12.9inch before the M4 have the same display aside the 120hz pro motion on the pro’s. It’s still very accurate x
Honestly, I feel that the ipad pro should offer touch id as well, and face id should be an additional feature that comes along with the pro model. Personally, this was the main reason i chose the air over the pro.
Do you guys have a problem about touch sensitivity when apply protective film in iPad Air ? I already return 5 unit of it but the problem still the same and I already try with both of temper glass and scratch prof film but the problem still occur. and the touch sensitive will be better when i plug my charger and touch it the sensitivity will back to normal.
the graphic designer in me loves the pro color display but im smart enough to understand that if i have pin point color precision on my end it wont translate the same to printing or other displays. if youre in animation or graphic design just go with the air the pro isn’t worth it
What is breaker for me, the bezels on the air 11:( I originally went with air 11, freaked out and returned for 13 air and I’m seriously struggling with the weight of the 13, I want the 11pro but it’s too late for exchange
Great video and I wish I had the budget for the pro coz it might be faster to edit photos than on a iPhone, but in the end, 600 is a lot of difference 😅
I want this tablet especially for media consumption iPad Pro is far better than iPad Air, firstly the screen, secondly the 120Hz refresh rate thirdly the M4 chip
