Very good info. It should be noted, however, that not all iPads have Stage Manager. I have an iPad 9th Gen that does not. In fact, several of the tips will not work on my iPad. I didn’t realize there were so many different capabilities between iPad models and versions.
I like these not-too-hurried videos. a lot of the "younger ones" rush through their tutorials, talking a thousand words per minute, and i find myself replaying the video to rehear what was said. Thank you for taking your time through these. 😊
I know exactly what you mean! I have to reply some of them several times , but never with Rich - he takes the time to explain clearly and concisely without being patronising. Greatly appreciated!
You can also open transcript and either follow along or just glance over when you need to. However, the transcript dialog box does use some display space, so can’t use full screen mode for video.
Well done. The only thing I’d suggest is, with each hint, provide a situation where the function may be useful. For me, it’s just not the iPad functionality that’s obscure, being aware of situations where the function may be used is also obscure. Thanks!
@@remington6363settings, general, updates. If one is available you can instruct it to do so there. Some older iPads won’t update as there’s not enough memory or Apple isn’t supporting it anymore.
Too many tips at one time for seniors to take in. Personally I’d like to have just a couple of tips which I can take time practicing how to use them until I’ve mastered them. So please avoid overloading us with too much information at one time. We’re not all as clever as you 🥰
The turn website into an app hint is fabulous. I sew, and often find incredible ideas while working on a project and spending so much time reopening a website this solves me hours of work. thank you so very much
Lol, I’ve been trying to block it from my cable tv for years! And Murdock admitted under oath (ref. Dominion Voting law suit) that Fox News is entertainment, not news!
My daughter is arriving from Italy today. I found her flight, but was worried about finding it all day, but now I have the website on my desk! Thanks Rick! That was a great tip.
Phooey, I got excited about Stage Manager but have an iPad Min 6 with 17.5 OS BUT the Mini doesn't have Stage Manager. Would be good for you to note that you areTalking about full size iPads. I have subscribed though as I like how you present things and I'm sure many things will apply to the Mini
Thanks! I Your plainly explained tips are helping me to learn how to make better use of my iPad rather than just using it as a glorified iPhone and media viewer.
For taking a screenshot, I think it is much easier to press the power button at the top of the iPad (when it’s in vertical position) and the top volume button at the same time. This immediately creates a screenshot, which you can then slide off to the left with your finger and it ends up in your recent photos.
Some features, such as Stage Manager are not available on all iPads. As well, some features require activation, such as four-finger swipe, corner swiping etc. Those require activation in Settings in order to be functional. It would be helpful to indicate what iPad you were using so viewers aren’t confused when their applications and features aren’t the same as you are explaining.
Great tips, Rich! You are right, many of these get overlooked. Thanks for bringing them to our attention. I will have to watch this again to absorb all the details. You always give useful, time-saving tips to keep us informed and up to date on how to use our iPhones and iPads to the fullest capacity. Thanks again! ❤
One time I was using my tablet and my keyboard was small and I had no idea how to get it bigger again. I went to RU-vid for help. It’s kinda funny now.
Fantastic, what useful information, thanks, I am 76 and I can just about get by, but already I have now moved something to my main page whereas before I had to go through safari, so that saved me a lot of time 👍👏
I only have so much space left in my head. I’m afraid to branch out lest I lose some hard won prior knowledge. I’m going to keep watching you, my friend, out of my massive respect and regard for a guy like you. Keep on.
Super helpful thank you, I only knew the first two! The four fingers (not three, FOUR hahahahaha!) and Stage Manager which is better than the Split View I'd been using. Yes and great pace!!
Thank you so much for all your information. I’m 76 and had to get a new IPad. I went from 5th gen to 10th gen and was told it’s just like your smartphone. Well, I don’t have a smartphone. I learned so much in this short video. One question. I have a couple albums in my photo app. I moved some pictures to a new album but they remain in my original album. If I try to delete them from the original album, they get removed from my new album. Any way to delete from original album and have them stay in my new album. Thank you for any help. Please continue your short videos. They are very helpful!
I have 2 iPads - my old one (original Air2) is 5 or 6 years old and showing its age - I bought a new Air about 14 months ago and I’m still learning the differences! I sent a video via text to our son yesterday for the first time (to me too!) but I can seem to send to my husband who has an android (can’t text him from the new iPad but can from the old one - why? Who knows!). Thanks so much for these tips - I bought a book last year but it was a complete waste of $$ - didn’t tell me anything new! My iPad is my computer (unfortunately our local provider (Spectrum) has been playing around with our internet since last year and I’m having trouble - hard to call and get someone who can tell me the truth about why!!!
Thank you so much for such a wonderful video. We often just don’t take the time to find out the new Shortcuts over the years. I have an Apple Pencil that I use with my iPad. A some of the gestures that you have shown here do not seem to be working. An example could be swipe up from corners or doing a screenshot with the extra options at the top. Perhaps you be able to do another one of these videos using, an Apple Pencil? FYI - the Apple Pencil really reduces the fatigue in my hand, so I would have a hard time without it.
Just me, but I did not understand most of the tips because it seems you did not begin each with a clear purpose, reason, benefit of what you were about to do. You showed the value at the end of each tip, but by then, I had lost the technical track or lost interest. Please consider more time, first, on the goal/benefit of the tip before going into all of the tricky swipes and taps. Thanks.
Thank you, nice to know all your tips. On my latest Ipad Air M2 the link of web page to notes does not work. The screenshot tip needs some setting in order to work. When too many apps are open the Ipad does not work well. How to you close all the apps the easy way?
i was on a zoom meeting last night and i got up to check my dog and was told that my camera (i guess) 'followed me' from where i was sitting into the hallway, how can i stop that from happening?
Who figures all this shit out I’m 76 can barely turn this juke box on I’ve been back to the store I bought this from so many times the I pad takes me there on its own I take my hat of to the young guys there they are so patient with an old fart like me
I’m 53 and I have an iPad Pro but I don’t know what version I have as I’m considering upgrading - how do I find out what version of the iPad Pro do I have?
