The only issue i see with this is internet connection, either buy an iPad that has cellular and buy an extra cellular plan, or use hotspot from the phone you already have with limited internet speed and time. That’s why i think is more convenient buy a car play or android auto console because those don’t need an extra cellular plan nor to use hotspot.
It won’t work if iPad isn’t cellular. It will only use approx location and won’t do turn by turn if it doesn’t have the cellular chip. Apple was smart lol
You can download songs and maps. My Spotify and google maps still work with my cellular and wifi turned off. I’m sure an iPad for just the car or an iPad with 256gb will do the job just fine
I have something like this. I use an old Amazon tablet. With an App that makes it work as a head unit with Android Auto. It connects to my phone and uses that as it's source for Music/GPS
I'd rather just get a unit with Android auto or Apple carplay, does everything I need it to do and it isn't illegal. Plus it can have extra things connected to it like parking sensors and cameras.
@@KShauryaDwivedi its still in the car where the actual Radio wouldve been and not like i will use it for youtube Short mid highway unless you are stupid
Just know you probably can‘t leave it in in the summer, as it gets insanely hot in cars in the sun, and the lifespan of the ipad will be less than the lifespan of the car. There is a reason why car infotainment systems are more complex than just tablets
That's the biggest reason as to why you can remove the tablet. Not quite as hot here in california but still way hot enough to fuck up a tablet so instead of getting a normal head unit I got one real similar to this. When I'm in the car the AC is on and I have a hose routed to the back of the tab to keep it cool. When in out of the car the tablet comes with me so it's not baking in a rolling oven
@@hankhasemeier6887and then what? You carry around a goofy iPad into the store or wherever you’re going? Still pointless. They make radios with screens for half the price of an iPad. Typical of California to come up with solutions to problems that don’t exist.
@RickC-lv2ob I'm not going to lie I didn't really think about people carrying it around. I always have a backpack with me so I toss it in the backpack. As for your other point, head units can definitely still overheat. They don't have batteries in them so they aren't as dangerous but temperature is definitely still a concern for them. Also for cost, it only cost me $600 to install my tablet dash kit including the Samsung tablet I put in it. This tablet is WAY faster and less laggy than an android head unit AND I can pull it out of the car to use it for notes when I get to class or watch movies on it when I'm traveling. A comparable android head unit is roughly $800 and has a much smaller screen and weaker processor and can ONLY be used in your car. Tablet dash definitely isn't for everyone but it's not a solution to a non existent problem like you claim it is, it's just not right for you.
I have a feeling some day car manufacturers will just put a slot where we can insert our own devices into it rather then them having to spend money on buying and installing the screen while increasing the price of the car.
You should make a shortcut in the shortcuts app to lock the ipad once power is removed unless you want tp use the ipad for uses other then a car infotainment system 😅
Bro the last thing anyone needs is someone watching shit on a dash mounted iPad while driving. Just get a stereo with CarPlay and you’ll be set. Less screens while driving for the love of god
Too much effort on the drive.. plus makes the car look horrible when iPad is out. But hey seems to work hopefully it doesn’t blind too much while driving at night.
Bro what are these comments 🤣 its just a dashboard kit that houses a iPad he bluetoothed the iPad or connected it usb to the aftermarket radio like a phone it’s legit not some space 💩 they had these sorts of things years back with the first portable chargers they use to be cases you plugged the phone into then we upgraded and you can tell it’s connected this way because when he turned the keys the music stopped but the iPad stayed lit common sense
I used to use my iPad in my car mounted but I found it needed too much power and I didn’t want to drain the battery so I just got a CarPlay unit instead, much better tbh so I don’t have to faff around with the iPad
I have this in my car but I need help finding something that will keep it charged and still be able to play music at the same time. I’ve looked everywhere please help
