iPhone 12 Mini vs iPhone SE Full Comparison! - In this video we break down the differences in detail to figure out which is the better phone to pick up :)
Come on Nick It's not a true edge to edge or all screen big notch on the top of the phone.Stop using very misleading terms your using It will only be true when there no more notch and the camera are under the display. Out of all the main stream phones apple isn't close to full screen. Samsung and other android phone are closer to that dream all screen phone.
If you want a small device for cheap price go to the (SE) or if you need a small device and you don’t care about the price go to the 12 mini. And that’s it 👍
Actually people who STILL continue to buy the SE is due to the following 3 reasons... 1. Its cheaper yet powerful 2. They dislike full screen phones 3. Home button is extremely useful People asked me to add these to the list:- 4. OLED screen makes some people uncomfortable 5. HUGE phones. Yes 12 Mini is small but actually its uncomfortable than the SE 2. Why? due to the full-screen it comes way down in the hands and gets uneasy to handle. makes sense? i feel the same.
Battery life isn’t much of a worry of mine since battery cases are fairly inexpensive and all accessories from the iPhone 7 through 8 work on the newer SE. the parts to replace things are cheaper too
4. Low frequency PWM inherited from the OLED screen is a curse to your eye, which Apple will never tell you. P.S. Not all (AM)OLED screen comes with low-frequency PWM, but Apple's does, and for other brands 90% do.
Yes, we know 12 mini is better in everything...but I’m not gonna pay over 1k usd (21499mxn) for a phone, any brand any model. I just got a SE, don’t regret at all.
An ex-iphone 6 user myself here. I have both and yall SE users are not missing out much tbh in terms of chip performance. Display wise, the 12 mini’s notch needs a litlle getting used to if ure from the full-bezel generation. However, dont think Apple is getting rid of the notch anytime soon in the next 5 years, so I made the dip and purchase the 12 mini... cause I wanted something fresh for my eyes to see for the next 5 years (Dont want to be stucked with an old disply for 10 years straight😆)
Bought the iPhone 12 mini back in April 2021. Throughout my time with it, I have found the 12 mini to be working out really well. It has great cameras, and great speed. The only part that I don’t like, is the battery life and the speaker quality over time. My battery health is it 90 percent now after only 8 months and I am getting an average screen on time that varies. Sometimes I will get 6-7 hrs of battery life and sometime it can be as bad as 2-3 hrs when on cell data doing heavy usage. It varies and don’t expect outstanding battery life in all circumstances. Oh and also don’t be surprised if your batteries health decreases 2 percent in under a week. It has happened to me and you are not alone. I hope this helped give everyone an insight onto how the 12 mini is after some time.
@@elliottjakabhazy6726 ey bro you should just ignore it because if you don't it's going to ruined your experience, but when you start feeling uncomfortable with it you can change the battery
The 12 mini is the most aestetically pleasing phone to date. I cannot wait until the 13 mini is released. I will be picking the 13 mini up, or the 12 mini if the 13 mini is only a small upgrade.
I returned the mini after two weeks because the novelty of having a small ‘flagship’ quickly wore off. I also couldn’t justify the price, its too expensive for what it is. I personally don’t care about 5G, wireless charging or duel cameras on a phone that small. Instead a paid a little more and got the regular 12, which I think is the best option for most people. If you have to have a small phone that does all the basics well with identical software performance, just skip the Mini and get the SE. the money you safe, buy an Apple Watch or iPad.
@@СашаЛобанов-я8в it’s not “much bigger” it’s close in body size now screen size yes that’s a difference I can egg behind and is why I love it. Close enough to the 5 body style with a full screen. Best of both worlds.
The “upgrade” isn’t to big I mean your going smaller in display idk if you like that or not but your also losing a telephoto Lin I don’t think the “upgrAde” you did isn’t to big accept 5G and a A14BIONIC CHIp but I don’t think A14 is that useful rn A13 is perfectly fine but if you like the size/ display and you use the phone for years maybe it would be worth it.
@@jonr7362 it won’t be for years it was to just enjoy a phone as a phone again. I normally change phones every yearly cycle. When having the pro I would find myself on it much more than my iPad and since going to the mini and air 4 it has allowed me to be off the phone more and more and all content consumption goes to the air 4 which was another upgrade but has allowed my screen time to go down and the phone to be a phone again when needed for anything else it’s more than capable of completing any tasks required.
I upgraded from the iPhone SE 2020 to the iPhone 12 pro. I gotta say, I miss the small form factor and the Touch ID on the SE. Im basically keeping the iPhone 12 pro for the camera. Miss my SE.
The camera only seems better right now. Nobody talks about how the iPhone 8 camera was better than the iPhone 7 camera in 2021. The SE rear camera is similar to iPhone 11 which is similar to iPhone 12.
I bought an IPhone se 2020 and love how speedy it is. The camera is great to. You really can't beat the $400 price tag. I can live without the wide angle lens.
I went to Best Buy and was able to test them out, the 12 Mini feels so comfy and much more to something I’m used to (coming from an SE (2016) I wish I could upgrade to the mini but I can’t afford it so I ended up buying a yellow XR :)
@@Tom_Stevens617 ...You do realize not everybody is in a great situation financially, right? You don't know this person's life, nor their situation. Plus, how much is the iphone 12 mini again? 600? The last time I checked it was around that price but that's only 100 dollars less from 700..
Best reason, for me the least to go for the SE is its classic design. The black bezels make it look way more classy and easy on the eyes that the busy full-screen display. Proportion wise it just looks more balanced as well. The only other phone I ever considered (instead of a classic styled iPhone) was the Sony Xperia XZ1 compact, I just love its design. I wished Sony kept that form factor.
iphone se at 50 percent while 12 mini is at 96 percent and still at the same point after the video finish. while my iphone x down to 96 percent from 100
The 12 mini was my dream phone too. However, I decided to buy both the SE AND Mini. After less than 2 weeks, I sent the mini back. There is very little difference in capability which makes the difference in price unjustifiable.
@@italiancapo7 The SE’s camera is great and I don’t need two or three, I’m not a photographer. I think those phones are for folks in the art and media field.
@@italiancapo7 When it comes to camera comparisons dictating whether something is better, photography has never been about owning the latest gear but about how well you can use what you’ve got. People find a lot of creative ways to do more with less. I’ll bet that a lot of the people who rush out to buy a phone based on its impressive leap in camera tech aren’t even going to be utilising it in a way that would justify the leap.
I was going to get the iPhone 11 back in 2020 but the se was $399 and Verizon had a special $199 deal and it was a no brainer then. $200 great deal for the SE 2020
Just bought a 12 mini. Have to say love it! But yes the battery does only last me one full day. Love the phone as I just retired my SE 2016 model. ( SE Still getting updated to iOS 15.01 wow!!). Great review
Getting the se for my birthday next week. It's my first iphone so I'm really excited. I already have a phone so the battery shouldnt be much of a problem since I can use my other phone as well this is more like a backup. Great review though.
I think the iPhone SE is a better value. The A13 chip is still an excellent chip. I have no issues with speed on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. If you’re looking for an iPhone and don’t care about that extra camera, screen resolution, 5G, Face ID, or A14 chip, then go with the iPhone SE. Actually, I’m thinking of switching to the SE. My iPhone 11 Pro Max is too heavy, I can’t use Face ID in public, and I’m tired of paying $45 a month on my phone bill to pay off this phone. iPhone SE will allow me to buy a phone outright and save some money each month. 👌
Apple should update the dock on the SE to look like the rounded floating dock of the newer phones. I remember they did it for older ipads with an update.
Just returned my 12 Mini and purchased the SE (2020). I like having the home screen rotate for landscape mode, prefer LCD and TouchId. There's just such a minimal value prop to pay $330.00 more for almost the same functionality. I absolutely love the design of the 12's....I'll just pick one up in a year...or maybe the 13's will have both FaceId & TouchId...then I'm in.
12 Mini is my choice. I think the benefits are worth the price: Smaller body, bigger screen Higher res, OLED screen More modern design with less bezel 5G Face ID (I like it more than Touch ID) UltraWide Camera Night Mode A14 Processor (I know its not major but its an improvement over the A13)
The SE is just as fast and half the price. People are said to be turning off 5G on the mini. Now all the sudden the mini is a terrible value until second gen.
@@hollowgrapej1561 the community will disagree with you. 99.9 pct chance mini is here to stay and will only be improved upon. All that engineering wasn’t for one year. The four iPhone 12’s are a complete family until the screens type change to folding etc. Once they yank the charge port from the mini and get the 5G on one system chip rather than a separate chip they will get more battery and reliable 5 G.
Wow, imagine getting a expensive phone as the 12 mini and end up turning off the 5G because of battery issues 🤦🏻♀️ this shows the SE is not a bad phone after all!
@@beas_spanish_class you have to be willing to say in two or three years, “man now it has integrated 5G on one chip that is more efficient, plus the mag safe charger has taken over and there is no charge port so it has more battery life.” I really want a mini 2 or 3 that has stellar battery life and 5 G and my 3 or 4 year phone purchase (now that companies don’t subsidize them) was a mistake in 2020.
The SE is way better value. The A13 chip can handle anything, the camera is a beast, the display is nice and vibrant, and it's $400. I got it for $49.99 for switching to Cricket. Best deal ever! I had a XR, I do miss the big screen but I got used to it and I like how nice it feels in my hands.
It’s funny how ‘tech-gods’ despise the iPhone SE and praise the iPhone 12 mini when there’s only an hour or two of difference in battery life. This shows us how materialist and how needy for the latest model we are.
a lot of people complain about battery life, and making a sacrifice but, typically like myself you're coming from an older phone with worst battery- not to mention battery degradation from old/ current phone using. Anyhow, I don't want to get an OLED iPhone so i'll stick with the SE and should last me until micro led iPhones are a thing
@@kierenkd It was free for existing Comcast customers, we did have the bundle, but i don’t think that was the reason we got it. I got one for me and my mother in law ( who is not a comcast customer, we share a plan on my account.)
As much as I loved the 5s, it’s horribly outdated by today’s standards. If price is your hang up, get the SE. I have a 12 Mini and I love it. I find it very reminiscent of the older iPhones in design/form factor, but has all every bit of power the newest ones do.
iPhone 12 Mini. I want a smaller phone, because I have a MacBook Air, and don't use my phone as much unless I'm out. I'm coming from a 6 Plus, so it's long in the tooth. I feel like the Mini offers the features I want. I have poor eyesight, so I've thought about a regular 12, then decided I want a 12 mini.
Problem is Nick i bought the SE for £300 on offer and a DSLR camera for £400 second hand, which is a much better camera than any iPhone, why on earth would any serious photographer use a phone ? you wont win any awards as the video quality compared to a real DSLR is awful
I hope you do a similar review between the mini and SE 3rd generation. But please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please include sound VIA HEADPHONES! Bizarrely no one does this.
I am using I phone 8 for one year now.I want to replace my I phone 8 and upgrade to I phone 12 mini.surely I don’t wanna go for I phone SE. I think there is not much difference between SE and I phone 8 apart from the processor and some camera features .
I thank apple for making compact phones that can fit in your hand again. I love it. I ordered the 12 mini due to what I need to do. I also ordered a battery case (4000), so battery life is not an issue.
I’ve been wanting to get the 12 mini BUT I have the SE 2020 / and a XR ! I just can’t see the 12 mini being that much better for spending that much money!
I love control center position on se . 12mini or other newer iPhones are not taking full advantage of gesture and I hate that top end back button iOS need to fix that
In iOS 14, that battery indicator is a widget that is available across all iPhones released since 2015. It can also be shown as a bigger icon that shows the battery statuses of more devices e.g. your Apple Watch, airpods etc.
Which one should I buy, this is such a dilemma ! I was even going for either white SE, or black 12 mini. SE is more affordable, I’m used to home button. For full screen experience I have iPad Pro. 12 mini is very cute and has better camera. Is it worth it...
There's a huge difference in price between them, The SE is a budget iPhone and the 12 mini is a flagship.. 399 vs 700+! for the base models. In this instance, Your decision is gonna be heavily based on what you can afford or willing to pay. But if you can afford and are willing to pay for either, Then cost comes out the frame and it's down to which you prefer to run with. The obvious answer here would be go for the much better 12 mini, But then you may prefer what the SE offers.
@@danimayb yeah, price difference is huge. I like what SE has to offer, but the problem is if it’s going to look too outdated in three years or so. I’ve been using iPhone 7 since 2017, switching to SE 2 won’t feel like a big difference x). But paying double the amount for the new aesthetics of 12 mini/ better camera, I’m not sure. Specs look same to me
@@hagiwaramio7289 It's a tough one, Go all out for 12 mini if ya really can is the answer to all your questions.. But the SE 2020 will do the job. I have just upgraded from the original SE lol After debating a while, I decided to go for iPhone XS, My budget is tight and I picked one up on ebay for less than the SE 2020 costs, But the XS is a much better phone in all specs bar pervious chip (makes no difference in usage) still looks premium 2 years later, And probably will still look premium 2-3 years down the line. Battery is at 88% is the only issue, But just gets me through the day and soon I will get battery replacement through Apple.
@@hagiwaramio7289 idk if u chose or u are still tryng to choose but about u saying that se 2gen will look outdated in 3 years, if u stayed with a phone for more than 3 years its probably time to upgrade so..
@@ericB3444 Well some people doesnt care bout the spec as its pretty same powerful but some people do care about features like bigger display or camera So if you are the person that prefer hardware rather than features use SE If you prefer future feature as i mentioned than use 12 mini mate!
@@Ari-hh4bw but In the pandemic Mini is missing essential Touch ID. Don’t you mask? Do you want it to be like 2012 iPhone 5 enter passcode because of your mask. Youll start to hate masking. Then all the sudden you’re an anti masker and you get covid.
Don’t charge beyond 80% and don’t let it drop under 20%. Battery will degrade over time. It will lose 1% of it capacity roughly with every 22-25 charge cycles. After 500 charging cycles, the battery health will drop to 80%, then you will need to replace the battery. Take my suggestion. Don’t get too worried about the health. Even if you use it heavily, the battery will last more than an year.
I have small hands comparing to avg adult men, and I always liked small phones. I found the 12 mini was a bit too small, but the screen was too big and it kinda does the opposite for me which kinda makes it harder to operate with one hand because it's too small and I have to work really hard so my thumb could reach back.
If you want smaller phone, get the SE because you still can’t fully navigate your finger on 12 mini anyway. The screen is not that much bigger to warrant the price tag.
