@@Simplified360 I certainly remember about how people were complaining about how iPhones were so small and impossible to do web browsing. Fast forward a decade, now they're complaining about the 13 pro max being too big to be used with a single hand. If small smartphones should be the norm , then why the iPhone SE recorded the lowest sales ever? There's a reason why smaller phones like the mini and SE shouldn't exist, the battery life, which a strong 5g connectivity, the battery will barely hold up a full day of use, after 2 or 3 years, when battery depletion will occur, it will barely lasts a few hours and . The 13 pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, OnePlus 10 , Motorola Edge Pro 20 are bigger devices but battery depletion will be barely noticeable in 4 years of ruthless use.
@@irfannizam8025 yeah, my hand is exhausted after a couple minuets. Big phone make me both make me can't stop watching tiktok and sore my hand out. I maybe a little dramatic, but big phones just ruin my life.:( I was gonna wait for the 13 to drop a bit in price like the iphone 11 did but now i just know that they cancel it.
I got one a week ago. I got tired of carrying around a small tablet in my pocket. I have a desktop, I have a laptop for work. I don’t need a giant phone in my day to day life. Going back to small is awesome. I can use it one handed and it does everything I need quickly and smoothly.
I got the iPhone 13 mini two days ago as an upgrade from my previous iPhone xs. I used to change my phone quite frequently, but when I bought my new iPhone 13 mini, I felt like I didn’t want to buy any phone again because, for me, this phone is the most perfect in all aspects, and I guess this could be the reason why Apple doesn’t want to continue creating a small flagship iPhone again, because people who buy such a small and powerful iPhone like this could probably not buy any future iPhones anymore. The iPhone 13 mini is ideal! The only downside is the back-glass because I think it would be better if it was made from aluminum just like the 1st generation iPhone SE.
Completely agree. The size of the current iPhone mini-lineup should be the norm, those other phones are oversized. If they ever make a "mini" phone in the future they should make it a real mini iPhone. like the 1st-gen.SE - but instead we're getting another max 👎.
My GF just upgraded from her... iPhone 4. She loved the small size but the phone was finally falling apart. She thinks the mini is already too big and that was why she went with the 13 Pro Max. She opted for the great battery life even though the Pro Max is HUGE. I'm still using a 2nd Gen SE.
@@andema83 My GF was exactly the same. She loved the 4. Now she has the 13 Pro Max "Brick" as she calls it. lol Its definitely an adversarial relationship for her now. lol I should trade my SE in for a Mini 13 just to annoy her. Bwah hahahaha!
Just got my iphone 13 mini(midnight).i'm a first time iphone user and it is true that this little phone is very amazing..number 1 is form factor,it's very nice to hold and perfect in all angles.number 2 is the camera and video was quit satisfying, very clear. They said that battery could not last long but it just a matter of how you are going to use the phone, it is a matter of how you are going to adjust and control in the setting area..i dont have any complain with the battery..i dont have any regrets in purchasing this phone..very incredible mini..
Everytime Apple makes a new Mini we get the same rumors, "Due to lack of sells this is the last iPhone mini". When will people stop believing this crap.
Been using the mini for 1.5mth, its great. Battery life works well for me as I dont game on my phone, easily 1 day phone for me ;p and i really love the small form factor & pure flat screen.
I have been eyeing it for such a long time as I've been using the 11 Pro Max since the day it came out. Just got the 13 Mini a couple days ago and I couldn't have been more proud of my choice; although the only thing it lacks is an all-day battery... but we can't always have what we want, now can we? Also, the funny thing was when I tried to hold the 11 Pro Max or 13 Pro Max after owning the 13 Mini, the Pro Max's felt so heavy and clunky in comparison. Good review too, they should continue the mini phones despite the 'lower' sale numbers... love em!
Nice review. I like the focus on the important benefits of the smaller/normal form factor. Smart mention of the ZF8 for smaller android powerhouse comparison. I’m a true one-handed purist, still using iPhone SE/2016. I had the 13mini n returned it bc I wanted to use the SE/‘16 for another year. I will buy 13mini again, next September, if no 14 mini. It’s not small hands thing either (6’1” with large hands), just don’t like using big phones. Also, ur flawless removal of sandals to hammock transition, didn’t go unnoticed; master class level, lol. Peace.
I have been waited for the smaller phone since years then finally replaced my iPhone XS by 13 mini. Its best phone i had ever, 5.4" is still big enough screen to write emails, posts on socials and watching YT videos or gaming. No more larger phone ever if possible. It lays in pocket perfectly no matter you're in work or on sport activities like running or biking, and completely no issues with battery working time - one day of very active up to two days when i am not using phone a lot.
sadly there are rumors that Apple will discontinue the mini this year moving forward, at least in the coming years. Hopefully the mini will replace the SE in 2024/25.
Hey 👋 Melissa. I by chance stumbled upon your channel’s this video. It’s a refreshing approach & I wish you & your team best. At times when majority of tech tubers & commoners are following the hype & noise of going for big, unmanageable devices/gadgets; your presentation is relieving for all those who believe in best of ‘technology in small & smart packaging’
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! We have to remind ourselves to take a step back too sometimes - you’re right, it’s not always just about bigger specs indeed!
I love your communication skills. I have the 13 mini now and I love it. I came from android( pixel 6 ) and you bet it was a crazy size change but hey it’s absolutely awesome
Hey Matthew, I have a pixel 6 and I've been thinking about getting a mini. What's the thing you missed most about not having the pixel? Did you notice the voice typing wasn't as good on the iPhone as it was on the Pixel 6. That's one of the features I really like about it.
I just got my 13 mini in red 3 weeks ago I love it I had the 11 and traded it in so far no complaints the screen isn’t all small for me it’s a great size so much power in the mini battery is very good also
Is the screen small when you’re watching RU-vid videos? That’s what I’m scared of. I’ve seen that there are black borders on the side when watching videos
@@user-eo9to7wd2t yeah unfortunately the black borders are inevitable and yes personally the iPhone mini isn't the best experience when watching videos due to it's size.
I've had my 13 Pro for almost a year now, and am still happy with it. I don't plan to upgrade for at least 4 - 5 years. I went from the 8+ (which I had for 5 years) to this phone. I've been lucky to have 2 great phones in a row.
Great video! I just swapped my XS MAX for a 13 mini. I love the small form factor and much lighter weight. I was concerned about battery life, but with my old battery at 86% the battery lasts all day with my average use (6 hrs screen on/ day).
I have both phones and both are great. I have the iPhone 12 mini which works in conjunction with my iPad Pro. My galaxy flip Z3 works very well with my galaxy watch 4 classic and I got the two phones and galaxy watch 4 classic and galaxy wireless duo charger for under £1000. Best of both worlds and no more upgrading for another 4/5 years. 😃😃
I am using IPhone 13 mini and I would say that I agree with you. iPhone 13 mini is a small phone compared to all the other phones out there. My mom is using a Samsung M series phone and her phone is so much bigger than mine. This small phone has multiple benefits it’s easy to carry when you are running or jogging/cycling or any kind of outdoor activities. I would agree on the battery part, there are days when I need to charge my device twice in 24 hours. And some days one single charge is enough. All depends upon the usage. Now I have started to use my phone less to view media contents. Though I use an IPad as well so I use that mostly for media content
I'm so glad mini are back after not replacing my phone after iphone 4s because the phones are huge these days I defo be picking this up. I say the only con would be no touch sensor security
@@Simplified360 I picked the mini 13 up. Also I'm not team anything I just go based of what I like. I do tend to pick apple mobile up over the other brands though.
back in my day we used one hand... ive always hated the 2 handed motion for these bigger phones especially in texting took all the fun out of it until the mini arrived.
I loved the small Sony phone’s, tried a larger phone (Made by Razor) for 3 year’s but really missed the smaller form factor. Searched for a small flagship android phone but couldn’t find one in the sea of manufacturers 🤷🏻♂️. Reluctantly moved to iPhone 12 mini. I love it but still wish android could supply a smaller flagship.
@@Simplified360 i was thinking the older sony models to the current form. When they made a compact version with the same chip as the ‘normal’ and then a premium version later…. Er, just like apple are doing now. Actually think Sony’s tall/narrow is worse, you loose pocket mobility and have to deal with a tiny keyboard. They pitched it as a photographers screen accessory, over complicated it’s camera and it went even more niche as a result of ‘for the pro’ lack lustre marketing. Their in hand experience software wise is right up there (I think my z3 compact was smoother and more stable than my iPhone 12 mini tbh). Everything else that has to be perfect around a decent smart phone is where sony fails so bad. How many times have review channels had their new phone but it isn’t released for months, the hype has gone by then.
@@p9917j I used to have Nexus & Pixel phones. Absolutely loved my Sony Z3 compact! Reluctantly moved to iPhone 12 mini like you just because it was the only decent small phone available. I'm now on the 13 mini, and will stay in the apple eco system until Sony or Google come out with a high-spec small phone. Great video quality with iphone, but no tasker app, and so infuriating what you can't do .... turn on haptic feedback for instance, or simply dismiss an alarm 5 minutes before it is about to go off. And don't get me started with useless Siri. Must admit though apple makes nice hardware.
@@patrickpaganini we’ve certainly had the same hardware past. I’m really not impressed with my ip12. Hypetrain is completely unwarranted imho. Freezing apps and force closes is akin to ice cream sandwich days in android world. You’re correct that the hardware is solid and asthmatic though. I’d be back to sony in a heartbeat if they did a full screen z3compact. The only thing i can praise apple for is the face recognition security. I hear the 13 is better. You happy with your upgrade?
@@p9917j Better battery and sightly better camera/stabilization. But it's more a functional 'relationship' ... I never particularly enjoy using it. But I do like the form factor and quality of hardware. Although iOS is inferior to pixel Android, all of my three pixels ended up with hardware faults, whereas Sony and Apple have been much more reliable for me.
I love my 8, I bought it new two years ago right before they killed them off and right before the SE2 came out, unfortunately, but it’s still fast and does everything I need. I’m looking at the 13 mini or the regular 13 next but I would like to see what the SE3 will be like in early 2022. Sure humans can get used to many things but there will be a lot of complaining from most ^_^
There will always be a new, greatest and latest one :) Our taste and needs keep changing too. Long time ago most people wanted smaller phones e.g. Motorola's and Ericson's
@@Simplified360 Thanks a lot now I really miss my Motorola Razr one and Razr 2 :p. But I do not miss using a cable to download the pictures onto a computer, those were the days
It’s all a marketing thing. If the mini was actually called the ‘iPhone 13’ and if the 6.1” was actually called ‘iPhone 13 Plus’ iPhone 13 Pro Plus, iPhone 13 Pro Max, then the mini would sell wayyyyyyy bettter, since ‘mini’ has that connotation that you’re losing out on something
Had a 13 mini for a few months and loved it but decided to trade in for a iPhone 13 pro max since I use my phone a lot for work and wanted a larger display but didn’t really want to buy a laptop or iPad.
Sounds like a fair trade! I guess we can never fully know how it feels in real world use until we have it. Our aim is for our reviews to help answer as much of the questions as we can - especially in places where trade / return policies aren’t as favourable. Hope you got a good deal!
I bought the 13 Mini as a back-up phone and to be used when i need a smaller phone, like for going to the gym and hiking. I had an SE 2020 as my backup and just didn't like the old form factor and crappy screen. I really like the phone, but I still use my 6.1" phone daily at work because of wanting the larger screen for work content. But I have found that it's a great phone for weekends and when I'm not working.
Thanks for the excellent review. I am thinking of upgrading my iPhone X-I also have an iPad Pro, iPad Mini (new version and very impressive), and an Intel iMac. I do serious photography on a camera so HiRes not a big attraction for me-bigger lenses still get better, or more natural, Bokeh and higher dynamic range. For “serious” images on the iPhone I use the unparalleled LR Mobile or Halide (LRM more for the editing and Halide for the tricky photography. I am starting to use my iPhone for video and am impressed-use MoviePro but am adding Filmic Pro soon. I also use Moment lenses which appear to do very nice job-unsure about their app BTW your site says SG but you are in KL? Especially as you’re mentioning ringgit. I was last in KL in 2019 after diving at Sipadan with my daughter and after we’d also visited Singapore. Also worked in both SG and KL in the early 1990s when I had a serious job! My daughter and I hope to be in Malaysian Borneo in 2023 doing some great diving again. Stay well.
It is the phone of my dreams, iPhone 13 mini what a beauty I wish I had, it is so beautiful I watch its reviews every day and wonder when I can get it I wish 🥺🙏.
Its hard to think the 13 mini is a small phone to me it is not. I had a 2016 iphone se I used for 6 years till a repair shop broke it recently. I bought a 13 mini and it feels big but it is still not nearly as big as some of the current phones.
The major reason phones are oversized now is because the mobile gaming market is growing rapidly. Bigger phones have bigger screens for touch controls and bigger batteries for longer gaming sessions.
As a man, who switched to iphone 13 from poco x3, i would like to say that it feels reeeealy small, like i had iphone 5s before and thought, that it will be all right considering that i like small phones, but in reality these time are gone now. I still like iphone more because of its features, but usability is very important
I Could never really get use to the larger phones. I've been a fan of smaller phones since I went from the galaxy s3 to the iPhone 4s in 2014. In fact I had both phones at the same time and my 4s outlasted my S3 but became my main phone before that. The S3 was given to me and the 4s was chosen by me. I then bought a SE in 2016 which I still use to this day. I got a 12 mini this week to replace my 4s which died this year. Always found larger phones cumbersome. I have a galaxy not 9 which came free with my 2018 QLED and I'm always weary about using it on the fly to view content. I have to hold it like a book because of the wallet case and have to watch out for all the Uber eats delivery guys whizzing by me on their bikes. They can come out of nowhere even on the pavement. With my SE and my 12 mini I have that vice like grip and never worry about dropping them. RIP to the 4s. The GOAT of small phones.
I bought the 13 mini and am disappointed that Apple has cancelled it for the 14. I'm a runner and gymrat and smaller and lighter are better with running and using the gym, especially with how small pockets in workout shorts are today. What I love about the 13 mini is that I can one-hand it and it's really great if I'm carrying a bag with my other hand. I have an iPhone 7+ backup phone if I need a larger device.
@@nasrulhaqbohari9652 Yup. I'll just wait until they come back in the future. Hope it's not too long. I really love the portability of the iPhone mini. If I want a larger screen, I grab my iPad mini.
I really wish I got this one but im now used to the 120hz on the 13 pro. if only the mini had it its a bit of a shame in 2021 a 600 dollar phone dosent have a higher refresh rate
60Hz is fine for me. I don’t think it should be a reason to not buy a phone unless you game. If you have a phone this size, I can’t imagine it being a gamers phone. Nice video
Small phones are great for operating with one hand such as answering phones, browsing, online shopping, making payments, taking photos and videos and ofcourse putting it in your pocket. Those activity does not consume as much power as watching videos and playing games. Because i think the main issue of a high performance phone with small battery is the battery life.
Good Review 👌🏻 i have a small doubt although you recommend to turn on the lower power mode on all the time but does is it damage your phone battery or is there any sort of restriction that comes with it?... thank you for the video.... Good day 🤗
Pretty much the only reviewer with a female hand I could find on YT. I avoided upgrading my iphone for so long because I didn't want to sacrifice one handed typing and operation. The onslaught of the big phone movement means my first gen SE has been replaced three times. I'm in a position where I really have to upgrade and there was nowhere else on the internet where I could see someone with a female hand proving onehanded operation was achievable. Thank you very much for reviewing the 13 mini.
hahaha well I'm glad you found the channel! To be fair my hands are relatively large and feared the mini would be too small but ended up being far easier to operate than my iPhone 11 for one-handed use. Thanks for watching! Do subscribe and checkout our other reviews too! :D
I totally regret buyying it despite loving small phones, just after going from big screen poco f3 this feels like it hurts my eyes and is just not as comfortable as I thought it will be overall. Screen too small to type, also sucks watching some youtube and etc, battery suffers from being small phone
I don’t know about the “norm.” I’m a fan of the form of the iP 5, and our new iP 13 Minis will be delivered tomorrow. But to each their own, and no phablets for me.
