@@kalki9655 did not watch the video, don't worry I got you we weren't talking about the side button, actually talking about the send contact and info by putting your phone close to one another this was advertised to androids years ago and then they dropped it. there is smart share now that operates through Bluetooth but its not as intuitive as the original concept and idea.

@@kalki9655 Android phones had another button way before Apple, like the Bixby button, which was made customizable. Samsung got rid of it so now Apple did something similar

I use modes and routine on my Samsung and can do whatever action I want. Not just with the power button but with the volume rockers too. Plus I have 6 different options that can be mapped. Long press and double press on each of those 3 buttons. OneUI is the perfect Android skin

Same! I use volume up to toggle ring and volume down to mute the phone, kinda like the ringer switch does 😂

@@Ashlord I use exactly the same. Double press vol up to set to ringer and vol down to set to vibrate. Only Apple needs a dedicated action button for that 😂 been using it since a year now and I can never switch back from Samsung because of how cool OneUI is. Not because I'm tied in some ecosystem crap. 😂

Just tried the gesture on my Watch 4. Pretty cool. You can change the color of the yellow box but can't totally disable it it seems.

Standby mode free is impressive, a ton of options, although it seems its like launching an app and keeping it on, phone lock screen is not reached, I still don't mind that in an amoled display, its so cool

Glad to know, I'm not the only person asking for Bixby Routines versus Siri shortcut videos. I've asked at least four youtubers to do that type of thing. Same goes for the entire good lock/ Good guardian suites. P s. I did also gave a suggestion in the Samsung Members community, further Registar backtap Gesture actions.

Voice message transcription feature isn't available for all android devices with google messages. It would be really helpful if you can provide an apk link in any of your future videos or shorts. Also any possible alternative for name drop would be great.

So with the gesture mode you don't have to keep it as yellow. There are options to choose what color to make it. I usually juts pick grey

Truecaller also have a screen calling feature, but it's a paid option and I have not tested in the trial version.

Since the Android Beam has been officially cut off since the latest Android 14 build, you can still use send people stuff with the Nearby share just by tapping both NFC sides together, the receiver only has to accept the shared media. Yeah, it sucks that Google got rid of the Android Beam, but at least you can still use the NFC for the nearby share.

Hello I'm a motorola user and currently using edge 20. There's an extra button given but it seems to only activate Google assistant. Is there any possibility of remapping it to something else. Like an app or something.😢

great work done by @howtomen❤❤ But one thing I have not found is the mod for changing samsung's boring cursor pointer. I am on Android 13, One UI 5.1.1 and I am stuck to just being able to change the cursor pointer (I don't mean the s-pen pointer) between 5 colors. I want to be able to change the pointer to different shapes and not just the arrow. Does anyone have a link to be able to change this arrow?

Great content as always! You know Apple is running out of ideas when they keep resurrecting defunct Android features lol. First lock screen widgets and now Name Drop (RIP Android Beam). Maybe Android will learn it's lesson and stop removing features and instead just disable them by default and give the user the choice to enable them. iOS 17 is just Android Jelly Bean on steroids!

There is a very old feature in android that is the exact same as standby mode i believe it was called screensaver or s0omething like it, its still built into AOSP builds of android.

Yes! What i need now is just an orientation status option in the routines app. Then i could easily set this- whenever the phone is charging and in landscape mode, set the aod to landscape mode/ start screensaver.

nearby share, is android's latest competitor to name drop. if they do bring back android beam, that would be interesting though. i wouldn't be surprised though in future android versions, they extend nearby share to do what android beam used to do.

I love how Apple adds something minor to their phone that android has been doing for a while, but everyone makes a big deal about it like it's some new and game changing. Everyone hated the Bixby button, but I've been using that button as an extra action button since my Note 9.

I really wish you actually spent some time with an iPhone before making this video. Every single thing you mentioned at the start of this video, you can do on an iPhone through shortcuts with ease. Going to your last photo, going to a website all of those already have a prebuilt script in shortcuts to do. It’s literally a drag and drop prompt. I could sit with you and in 10-15 minutes have you fully understand how to not just map actions to your action button but also leave it on your main screen or have it voice activated 😂

although i completely see where you're coming from, the fact that bixby routines as an example, does not get enough coverage let alone good lock/good guardians from the larger youtube channels, is simply they are wanting to stick with the apple kool-aid and not wanting to compare. that doesn't even technically just go with bixby though, that's for any if this then that application on android (rooted or not). .

There is no doubt that android is much better for customisation than Apple and that is why I will never get an iPhone I like being able to change things around with apple u are confined to what they want I can't stand that, that's why I can't fathom the apple is so popular. I think it's more to do with the fact that people are trapped in the Apple ecosystem.

The first ones are good the second half is garbage. I prefer stock as well, I run stock wallpapers that came with my android, stock icons, widgets, launchers, etc. The first features listed form the iPhone are good though, not gimmicks, and they are stock as well, so unlike android you don't have to download tons of shitty apps that do it in a worse way.
