I normally upgrade phones every year but that will change with the S23 Ultra. It has everything I need (personal and work) so I will keep it for the next 4-5 years. I just love everything about it. Plus, the fact that I can run all Samsung Good Lock modules while pairing with my Niagara Pro launcher is just customization at its finest.

Amen. I owned the Galaxy S2 way back but shifted to Xiaomi and LG phones until I decided to get the S23 Ultra and it was the best decision I ever made. Goodlock customisation makes me love it even more.

I absolutely loved those S23 Ultra shots. I bought S23 U in feb and was going nuts seeing these big tech youtubers camera comparison videos making S23U feel inferior. I loved your way of showing the pics first and then revealing which shows how close both the camera systems are. Great comparison video. keep'em coming

Great to hear that!! I wasn't sure, because there are quite a few seconds in the video where nothing is happening or moving which always scares me on RU-vid as people may click off (thanks, TikTok! 🤣) but I am glad it was still engaging. Really appreciate the comment, I think the pictures look fab too, and they can be even better if I use ExpertRAW. By a mile! I don't think there's any phone out there rigth now that can beat the S23 Ultra...

As ever, a great video, thanks. I still cannot decide between iPhone 15PM and my, currently owned S23U. I have the S22U and, personally, cannot see much difference between the two so considering sending back my S23U and upgrading my iPhone instead to 15PM - I'm kind of tied into the the Apple eco system anyway with iMac, Macbook Pro, iPads etc..., the list goees on! What would you suggest? I know, I know, that's asking a stupid question as we're all different and have different wants and needs but as I respect you as a RU-vidr, any advice you are happy to share would be appreciated. I'm not really bothered by video/photography but more from a music/audio, aesthetics and OS point of view, thanks so very much.

That's so great to hear thank you so much! I will be honest, if you have many other Apple devices and your family and friends are all using iMessage, and you share lots of stuff daily at home, there's a lot to be said about the simplicity of the ecosystem. And that is true on either side, Samsung's ecosystem is great too. I opted for the tradeoff of not enjoying some of the ecosystem features, because of the multitasking features I get on both Fold and S23 Ultra. But if you don't take advantage of that, the iPhone would be a better option for you. In your last sentece, it kinda resonates with the point I was making about choosing a tool that is best for you, because when it comes to cameras, they are both excellent and you're not going to regret either. So I'd say, look at how you use your device and if the answer is you don't use the s-Pen, or multitasking features... the iPhone is your best bet given your other devices. Hope I didn't make you even more uncertain 🤣

I'm sticking to my S22U! I love it still. I pre ordered it and it still runs like a Toyota! I would say for you. If you are tied into the apple ecosystem and if it's more compatible with your surroundings. Go with iPhone.

Some problems with the Pixel are rarely mentioned. Some of it's key features are actually locked outside the U.S. Some only work on Google Photos which may need a subscription. Some features will only be unlocked by future software updates, because as of yet they don't work properly. Buyers beware.

The biggest two problems with the pixel are that the default launcher and default file manager suck compared to the rest of the Android world. Launcher should let me make folders in the app drawer. That’s a silly limitation. If someone doesn’t want to they don’t have to. The file manager cannot connect to servers over any network. So not pulling files from a server. Gotta go and connect to a computer and then forward them to the server. These are both silly.

@@AlexGTech AAA games? Apple isn't blocking that. They just announced them early for hype. Ultimately it's up to the developers to get them out in a reasonable timeframe, though Apple gets the blame if they are late as a consequence of hyping too early.

Amazing video, subscribed to you after watching this video. You simply cannot go wrong with either of the phones. Gone are the days where Samsung flagship would fetch less resale value which was a factor in India over choosing a phone. Even I was thinking of switching to the iPhone 15 Pro Max from my S23 Ultra, but tbh I can actually get my work done faster & more easily on s23 ultra over iPhone. Pretty sure I will be sticking with this phone unless Samsung makes some massive changes in S24 Ultra.

Hi Alex, I've been watching your videos lately and I enjoy them very much. The way you talk calmly, is very nice, you are always smiling and you make real examples using the phones. I'm about to change my phone. I used Iphone for several years, the I changed to Samsung, that I think works really great, but now I don't know what to choose! The Iphone is very nice, I use a Mac...but Samsung does really nice work and gives you a lot of freedom, beside the AR options are very nice and my kids have fun with it. Deep inside I like IPhones a lot and the option in Apple Car of not having some apps in your phone lock when is connected to the car is great! Do you a any "tight breaker" to help me make the choice, please?

I don't like the curved screen on the ultra. I makes a glare or an annoying line up and down where the screen curves. I'm not sure if this is because of the screen itself or a side effect of the glass protection cover. It is not that bad, it is a small thing, but it's there. The battery life is great. I charge mine only to 85% and get 8-9 h screen time with 20-25% remaining battery (i try to don't drain it too low)

Yeah I'm more or less a lifetime android person so far but it's asinine to hate any platform just because. From a tech moral standpoint. Very few contenders are without their sins. Just pick your poison right. But even with my love for Android and what android does. I can appreciate the polish creature comforts of apple as well. Hello from Brazil. I've watched your video a week prior to getting mine. Actually your channel was suggested on Lew's video. I wasn't experiencing any of the issues people were talking. Updated to the latest version got a fast data tranfer cable to test with my M2 external drive and long behold I almost dropped my phone was so hot after about 3 minutes of recording Pro Ress.

I got a brand new iPhone 14 PM and when I play Pubg my friends say they have a hard time listening to me, I’m not sure what the problem is but I tested the microphone with other apps and it works perfectly but when I play Pubg works horrible. Do you have any idea of why this happens to me?

Great analysis Alex! I've discovered your RU-vid channel by the Brazilian one! Great content! For me, the most important features are the backup photo system and the wallet. Should I bring all my photos to Google Photos or the Samsung sync solution for this? Which one is better? Can my iPhone photos be read by the Android solutions? Are they gonna lose quality? What's gonna happen to the live photos? Will it have some kind of conversion? If I decide in the future to get back to the iPhone again, will it have another conversion? And about the wallet, I've read that Samsung Pay and Google Pay have been having some problems being accepted in some places. It looks like Apple Pay has a larger coverage compared to the other brand's solutions. Is that right? Cause I don't want to change my main phone and have problems with my wallet.

Amazing that you found the Brazilian channel first 😊 you make a good point about Live Photos, before everything else, I use Google Photos myself and it’s been great as a way of keeping me flexible when I want to change from one to another. I wish I could say you was easy to switch, but it’s not. I did an entire video about the trade-off that I had to make when I switched. The shading you mentioned on the displays is just part of the video, the iphone is just not able to show the same level of color range on the example you provided so it looks black where it should have a orange gaze like on the Samsung. When the scene cuts on the video the haze is gone because its a different scene.

Yeah, it's a weird one. It only happens in certain scenes/colours. Hardly noticeable and took me hours of comparisons... but once you see it, it's kinda easy to spot.

Great video as always amigo! I do want the iPhone to have multiple use for the action button, I talked about this in one of my videos, I wish we could customize it for different apps line on my Logitech MX Master 3. I do want to try out the Galaxy S23 but we are in October now, might as well wait for the s24 in January. 🐙 if the iPhone can have a lot more multitasking I will stick with apple....

I own an iPhone 13 Pro. I previously had an iPhone 5, original SE and 8 Plus. It’s been long since I had an Android phone. Used to be on that side 10 years ago in the days of the Droid Razr MAXX, the Droid mini and the glory days of HTC (One M8). Also owned a Pixel 2 XL. It’s been long, like I said. At the time, I don’t remember wanting the level of customization that Android offered. In fact, the only phone whose OS I enjoyed was the Pixel. That being said, and I understand I may be in a minority here, there are some things I’d love to have that Android users have on their phones, both from hardware and software: battery life, multitasking, screen calling and now playing (both Pixel exclusives as far as I know) and the Pixel photo camera/quality/software. Other than that? I’m happy with my iPhone. I recently moved to the US and the Apple Card gets me better cashback than my other credit cards (and I have to use Apple Pay). Music sounds better (hated the sound on my Pixel 2 XL compared to my SE). The Ecosystem (invested in AirPods Pro, a Mac and the watch) makes everything seamless. But being honest? I’d love to give the Pixel another shot, and have my first try with a Samsung phone (Ultra).

The 13 Pro was one of the best recent iPjhones in my opinion. Kinda regret selling my Sierra Blue! I agree with you on audio, even the 14PM which I did not get on with, sounded better than the S23U. I am looking forward to trying the Pixel again, I had a great experience with the 6 and 7 Pros.

I use android phones all my life but I'm considering switching to iphone because of the camera video quality since I often go to concerts. But I'm not sure if I'm ready to let go of Android ecosystem. I'm not really used to using IOS aside from my Macbook provided by my company. Will you recommend switching? Considering all the factors like performance, etc...

Depends on the android you have right now and what you do, I'd honestly say if it's the S23U there's not much out there that can beat it. The iPhone does awesome videos, and the Log feature is great in ProRes recording. I think right now for video alone, the 15PM does indeed have an edge. But overall, if you like to run multiple apps at the same time or use Dex, use the S-Pen... then of course S23U would be great too. The video on the S23U is superb, so good I actually got rid of my 14PM earlier this year.

the picture quiz was good, I could not tell at all in the short amount of time given to distinguish the phones. People just nitpick to say one is better than the other.

Both companies need to pull their heads out of each other's rears and start innovating. Upgrades are incremental at best nowadays, just milking us for all we will put up with. Im sticking with my S23 Ultra for a few years, upgrading is just throwing away money at this point.

@@ThePalePatriot better of course at least for the main sensor but wondering how true the rumored 10x telephoto is which is just a unique feature that no other competitor has and optical reach is optical reach. If they do decide to go with a high megapixel 5x zoom with a wide aperture I wouldn't be mad at that. Either way, I have little doubt that Samsung won't kill it.

Hi Alex I don't know if this is intentional on your part, but I've noticed that for several videos, it's no longer possible to download your videos and watch them offline. For many like me (due to some restrictions at work), it's pretty much the only way to be able to watch RU-vid videos when you're not at home. Try to see if you can fix it. 🙏🏽

All these comparisons come to an end when it comes to resale value. After 2 years, you can't sell your Samsung phone for 50% of its retail price, but you can sell a good-condition iPhone for over 70% of its retail price. Samsung, especially Android, loses its value very quickly.

Yeah, absolutely. I just recorded it in 4K60 then used my editing software to "stretch" it, slowing it down to 27% of the speed, to be precise. It got a bit choppy, so maybe it would be better to record actual slow mo in 120/240fps but that loses some of the quality. I think 4K60 is great for slowing down and keeping some of the quality

The Korean guys did a good job with the Samsung phone but at the end of the day, I'll stick with my 15 Pro Max. It's smooth and glitch free. Here in the US, my cohorts in the office all have iPhones and it's really a standard from a business perspective. I think the Samsung phone is good for the ROW crowd. (rest of the world)

Yes, exactly ... what makes you happy is important❤. And for me, what saves you times and offers you more comfort features which again are things that make you happy😀 I always say to friends asking me why you don't use an iPhone: "I rather use the time I would lose for doing simple things with my kids", or "It is not worth it to get upset because doing simple things is so inconvenient". If I may Alex: there is no iPhone compared against Android. There is iPhone compared against Galaxy, Galaxy against Pixel, Pixel against iPhone (use just other phone names). There is even no iOS against Android. It is iOS against One UI, One UI against Stock Android and all other Android implementations.

I use my 15 pro max for texting, web browsing and some social media (IG and FB mainly) I don’t use or ever care to have a tiKtOk and I’m going on 11 hrs of screen time and I’m at 29% as we speak. I left Samsung for this phone and I have ZERO regrets

Hey @Alex Still rocking my S22 Ultra and I was waiting for S24 Ultra but the 5x optical instead of 10x is a negative for me on paper anyway they are still promising up to 100x zoom but not sure it will be nearly as great as the optical camera which was really good until 30x and usable ish till 50x. Very hard, but let's see what your thoughts are? (All this information is based on leaks from the ice universe on "X"

I can't even imagine how much better the S24U can be, the S23U is already such an impressive phone. I am not too sure either about that zoom, I really like the 10X. It absolutely smokes anything else and the quality is great, I end up using that 10X a lot more than any other lenghts

@AlexGTech same Here! I'm a Mobile Photographer and Videos ever since S9+ S22 Ultra was a great upgrade for me and I'm now itching for another one! But if anything I will wait for the S25Ultra if this doesn't suit my needs. One thing I will ask you is can you make a video on long exposure trail shots? Because my S9+ had variable aperture it allowed me even when there was quite a fair amount of light and now S22 Ultra always struggles and for some reason expert raw is 10x horrible if you wanna shoot trails of light but pro mode is a touch better. The reason is because iPhone’s 5x can capture more detail than Samsung’s 10x zoom in low light conditions. So Samsung will respond by implementing a better camera system like Apple did, rather than just a longer focal reach on a crappy camera. I much prefer what Apple has done. Samsung should be improving the overall camera in the next one so no worries there

Fyi, you have a toggle in the s23u that allows a high bitrate when filming. It does a huge difference since it takes the bitrate really high and increases the overall quality of the video

Yeah I have that turned on. I tried HDR10+ as well before which is great but it's not the easiest to convert to Rec709 in the edit.

I was worried that if i take wrong in this budget compromising what i could have taken . First off, I love the Civic Type R!! Okay - about phones: I think you are spot on. I like both phones, but I still prefer the Samsung for flexibility and options. Also, the iPhone has been the king of video for years. There's no disputing that. Samsung came a very long way this year with the S23 Ultra but it needs a little more work. They are like 90% there. But Android in general needs to make an imessage competitor flawless. Sending videos is still clunky on Android with Google messenger enabled on both phones. The quality isn't that good ... even with RCS enabled. Why is that ? I end up having to send a link. Why can't it be flawless and just send high-quality video instead of advertising a "Google link"? Apple doesn't do that. I know the blame is on carriers but Apple uses the same carriers and it doesn't seem to be a problem. And what's up with the apps? It almost always looks better on an iPhone. Can't Google work some magic? That's always with video. Can they not just upscale video that comes from iPhones? So with that said, I'm thinking of another iPhone until Android gets it right.

Lovely car isnt it? I never had one, and that one looked really nice (not mine). I really wish the messaging issue went away. I was thinking about it the other day, I think legislation may have to intervene like it did for USB-C. I use Telegram mostly and WhatsApp (less so) which kinda gets rid of the issue but it would be nice to have imessage-lioke features regardless of platform/ecosystem... We can dream right?

@@AlexGTech some day you'll get one if that what's you want. And kudos for being real!! You can tell a lot of the other influencers are paid by Apple. They always seem to somehow paint the picture rosey for iPhones and gloss over everything that's bad. They also seem to somehow never have any of the issues that other users have. And how is it that they all seem to hangout at the same events and all drive Tesla's ...and have the same exact opinions? I'm also disappointed in Google. They used to have character. They listen to what the influences say, but their phone could look exactly the same and they would still say Apple has better build quality or some sort of magic. It's almost laughable .I'm calling BS on most of them now. I watch your channel if I want to hear the truth. That will go a long way. But Android/Google needs to do something about video transfer. It's not their fault, but iPhones are the choice of Gen Z. They will some day have kids and poison their views. The biggest gripe is not having an easy way to transfer high resolution content. I know, you can use 3rd party apps, but most people don't want to go through the hassle. What good is having high quality if you can't share it ? And I'm watching every Pixel 8 Pro review. I'm still on the fence. But I'll probably get a Pixel 7 Pro instead of an 8. It has more character. Most will bitch about a curved screen, but that's character to me. I don't care for flat phones.

Could you make a video talking about "Raw" video on android? There's an app called MotionCam Pro that can record on the highest quality of your device There's some samples here on youtube,the app takes out all of that phone look,it's insane how little people are talking about it Maybe in the future you could do a comparison between stock cam and the app, then raw and ProRes!!

I used the 23 ultra for more than 5 months ,unfortunately my phone got lost. so moved to the iPhone 15 pro max. I don't know what the secs or most of revivers says, on the first day I used the camera on iPhone i noised a big different. as long as there's good lighting there's no different from the both phones. but as the tough situation comes up, iPhone rally struggle to keep up. Samsung never disappoints me with the photos ever. what when it's come to the battery, i used to always keeping on my cellular data turned on in the Samsung and end of the day I've remain around 30%-40% battery. that's not the case in iPhone. i always turn off the cellular to keep battery for end of the day. and other main thing is when you're using the camera app, iPhone drains more battery and gets hot when comparing to the Samsung. I know this is not a side by side comparing. These are the things that I have noticed as the 5 months s23 ultra user. I really miss my S23 ultra TBH:(. hope apple fixe these things on updates.

Are you picking up the Pixel 8 Pro? I think this would be another Apple competitor. People say this every year and it just doesn’t make the cut. I think Google nailed it this year tbh. Still not as powerful as the A17 Pro or the Snapdragon 8 Gen, but those AI features… Makes me excited for the future of tech!

I compared by myself my s23 ultra with a Iphone 15 pro and in day light all pics are better taken by s23 ultra. It shows more details, more realistic and vibrant. Iphone turns everything darker...

Yeah, I know we cna change the colour profile on the camera, and I prefer the "Cool"one. Out of the box, the iPhone is very warm and even skin tone which used ot be a strong area for iPhones, is now too yellow-ish

OK, thanks for the feedback. Regarding the ticking clock, I saw that on a different channel and quite like the "suspenseful" aspect of it. But I appreciate it may be too loud or too repetitive. Regarding point 1, I am not sure what you mean. Can you share the timestamp where that happened?
