I just upgraded from 12 Pro Max to 15 Pro max and i feel I should not have bothered. For everyday things they perform the same. I'm not a big photo guy so it's wasted :)
Im with 12pm for about an year, you can say Im a lot into photography and also do extreme sports so the action mode would benefit. But Im not sure I want to play twice the money “just” for a better camera (the other differences are insignificant to my usage)
I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and absolutely love my 12PM, I don’t have any issues with it at all, I’ve had it for almost 3 years now and it still performs as it did on day one, I think I will keep it another couple of years and see after that if it holds up that long, but I think it will
I did the same upgrade but w the max series ! The difference is brutal !! Totally worth it ! So happy that I’ve wait 3 years ! Screen , cameras , everything! 100%
I can’t recall seeing anyone using a iPhone without some kind of case. So everything said about the exterior differences is practically irrelevant, especially since the titanium versions weight difference is negligible. Titanium was a marketing choice.
Most people are getting great deals to upgrade from their old phones because the carriers want to lock you in for another 3 years, that’s not a bad thing as long as you know what you’re getting into
Oof. It's a tough sell even though I would love the new camera depth camera feature and macro lens. I think I may hold on to my 12pro for one more year or check with my provider to see what deals they have going on like you said. Very thorough review! Great work!
The macro on 15 pro is awful. Try it out, take identical photos with the 12 pro and the 15 pro before you make the switch. I’m so regretting it, 15 pro is terrible for close up product photography compared to the 12 pro.
This is the only iPhone upgrade that's been "worth it" since the iPhone X because USB-C, one charger to rule them all was worth any amount of money. For me personally of course.
Since the iphone X is crazy, i know your phone been giving u problems lol, if thats your rubric for a new phone going forward i would hate to see how long u keep this one
I'm happy with my 12 Pro. I used to have a 14 Pro Max and accidentally broke it. I didn't want to spend that much cash on another 14 Pro Max or 15, so I chose a 12 Pro for the time being. No complaints at all, love the device. Sure I missed the 120hz at first, but I quickly got accustomed to it.
@@maraelleaparilla9248 To be honest, battery isn't the best. I wake up for work at 7:45, unplug it at 100%, casually use the phone and by 2 PM I'm probably at 20-25%. My old 14 Pro Max would easily be at 60% by that time. If you have the extra cash, go for a newer one if battery is your concern. Otherwise, the 12 Pro is still good. No stutters, crashes, no nothing. Everything works seamlessly.
All the reviewers keep talking about the edges and things like that. With somebody please, please do a survey of how many people do not have any type of case or covering on your iPhone. Once you put that on everything else is not important.
I upgraded from the 12 Pro to the 15 Pro. I would have upgraded last year, but they didn’t have the USB-C at that time. The USB-C is great one inexpensive hub and you can connect everything doirectly to the phone, including my Samsung 1TB SSD T-7. With the 12 Pro after shooting a Beach Boy Concert, the only way to get stuff off the phone was to Air Drop to my iPad Air Gen 4 and then to the SSD. With the AT&T trade in plan, it cost me a tad over $800 with tax for the15 Pro with 1TB of storage.
I have 12pro and battery down to 80% and was wondering whether it's worth the upgrade given good trade in value. you've just convinced me to replace battery at £85 vs fishing out £630 for iphone 15. Thanks for the video! you've saved me from unnecessarily spending
I currently still have IPhone 8 and I shoot documentary videos on it. I’m wondering if the camera was changed from 12 before 15? I have bought my last two phones refurbished and have done pretty good for me and saved a lot of money! Nice video!
I was waiting to upgrade and the fact everything would finally all be usb c was a bigger factor. But this is way too much like my 12 pro to justify another £1200 for just usb c.
12 Pro Max here with 512 Gigabytes memory and the way my phone is still performing and the shape it kept during these years I believe I can wait for the IPhone 20.
Battery health on my 12 pro is at 82%, will get a new battery when it gets under 80%. It's my first pro Iphone, no complaints and I see myself keeping it for at least 2 more years.
I've got a 12 pro max for about 3 years now , and I definitely say that there is no point in changing the phone. Well , the battery yes , but still after 3 years , my battery is about 86% Which , honestly is great. Maybe a new design or something very very special on a new Iphone will make me change it, until then. Keep trying Apple. Btw , stop with that Titanium shit. Iphone 15 has about 1 grams or so of titanium , the rest is aluminium. So stop with this bullshit
The giant cameras on the back of the 14 and 15 look absolutely ridiculous. How did that pass the design phase and go into production? The 12 looks so much more elegant with the smaller cameras.
This is exactly why I went from my XS to 12 Pro.. wanted an 14 Pro but the cameras look huge and dont like that design, 12 pro cameras are absolutely classy
I have the 12 pro I just don’t feel like trading my iPhone and getting new case etc I haven’t gotten around to doing that iPhone upgrade chore just yet Still enjoying my 12 pro though
I’m a 12 Pro user, had it since 2020, and as much as I’m tempted, I’ll skip the 15 Pro, and wait another year. I paid cash for my iPhones, so I always consider the full sticker price when upgrading.
I went from the 12 pro max to the 15 pro max and it was the best move ever this is the Best iPhone ever! The feel of the 15 pro max is so great in the hand and lighter. Love the 15 pro max it’s fast and smooth with killer battery life
Upgrading from 12pro to 15pro waiting delivery debated about canceling, but then thought, all other devices usb-c (10gbs transfer), dynamic island features, action button, 120hz screen, titanium frame, better cameras & zoom, better video recording, new a17pro 3nm about 50% more performance overall, way better battery life, better modems wifi bluetooth threads connectivity, 2000 nit screen, better haptic feedback, definitely going to upgrade 👍
Life is too short to not upgrade to better tech whenever you get the chance. Treat yourself to an early Christmas. The excitement of getting a new phone is pretty hard to beat.
@@neilmcguinness4422Life is too short to waste money on pointless upgrades. After going to the Apple Store and holding both phones side-by-side they are very similar phones. The iPhone 15 PM is just version 4 of the 12 PM. The only interesting upgrade is the 5x camera. The other upgrades are nice to have, but not ‘must have’. This is an upgrade for the wealthy and wasteful.
still using 12pro and im nit yet impress with new iphones..and i heard 15 pros are not durable and lots are complaining with overheating and crack back when drop
Jerry, thanks for the great review. I just decided to upgrade from an iPhone 12 Pro with 256MB to an iPhone 15 Pro Max with 512MB. I am still very happy with my iPhone 12 Pro and zero problems. The reason for the upgrade (and in this order) is screen size, photos, more local memory, longer batt life. Not to mention that I will be able to keep this phone for the next 3-5 years without having to worry about Apple not providing the latest security and performance updates.
The iPhone 12 Pro is the best iPhone ever made by Apple. Best form factor by far with an amazing screen (industry leading 60hz), great camera and physical SIM without an intrusive, always-on satellite connection. 👍
The only issue I have w my 12pro is that recently (seemingly for no reason) the phones speaker volume has dropped considerably. It’s no diff when I’m using my ear buds or my cars speakers, but just when listening through the phone itself; so, my best guess is it’s a likely a hardware thing. 🤷🏼♂️ That said, the type-C is kind of a big deal for me. Mainly bc almost everything I own that charges through usb uses type-C (including my gf’s Samsung), so it’d definitely be nice to FINALLY be able to have just 🔥*1*🔥 type of usb cable for everything!
I gonna delay my upgrade. They made the vanilla 12 too good. I’m still enjoying it after somewhat 3 years. I got some new cases to get along with the new ios17 too 😁
The 12 Pro is still a very capable device. I do prefer my 15 Pro (MAX) due to its better 5x optical zoom lens, the brighter bigger screen and the smooth yet matte finish of Titanium and glass than the Stainless Steel and glass, both are still nice, I love both, but I now prefer the matte finish.
I have a 12 Pro Max. I have to say I haven’t been so super excited about the 15 Pro Max that I would spend the money to upgrade. I will more than likely replace the battery and hold onto the phone for 2 more years.
@@ClickbaitMotorsports I think the 13 Pro or Pro Max are the best all around iPhones till this day. The 12 Pro series lack that 120hz display and the improved battery on the 13 Pros.
@@TheBri87 I used to think that about the 13 Pros. However, the form factor of the 12 Pros is way better, which is more important than ProMotion for me. The 13 Pro got the larger battery which cause Apple to increase the weight and thickness of the 13 Pro. It's a chunky phone, which is why Apple had to go to Titanium for the 15 Pro. The 12 Pro has 120hz under the screen touch response which give it a world-class 60Hz screen, way better than any Android equivalent. And it has 6GB RAM comparable to the 13/14 Pro. And come to think of it, I always disable 120Hz on my Android phones, I don't need it. Best iPhone of all-time.
I am on the fence in getting my first ever iphone and I am considering the iphone 15 Pro Max. Its the only phone for me since I care about 120Hz, USB-C and small form-factor. Its either the iphone 15 Pro or nothing. People are complaining a lot about its battery. Is it true that the battery on the 15 Pro is bad or people are just being drama queens?
@@KrypteiaXi screen time is similar, battery degradation very good, compared to my previous: two Pixel 2s, two pixel 3s, a pixel 4 and a pixel 5a I also had five nexuses
I have the 12 Pro currently with 87% battery health. Battery life stinks and I have to shut down most system service location settings and keep low power mode turned on, as well as turn off the cell radio (when I’m in areas with weak signal), to get through the day with 5-6 hours of screen-on time. And I don’t do anything demanding on my phone accept answer messages, or engage on Facebook and Threads… :(
Are they still manufacturing the 12 or just selling the old stock? If it’s still being manufactured I would guess they are making new batteries too…unless they prioritize older ones for replacement jobs.
I upgraded from an iPhone SE original to an iPhone 12 Pro Max. That was a major upgrade in size and design, but also user experience. Large full screen display, face ID, triple cameras. The iPhones 15s are just too similar to the iPhone 12s to be worth the upgrade. They have the same basic design and the same user experience. I'm waiting for another major upgrade!
I made this upgrade. The 12 PM was everything I needed. Except. I wanted the new camera system. That was worth the change. The 15 PM does feel better, and I’m surprised how much I enjoy it. But. I wouldn’t upgrade for that. There are other things about the 15 that are better than the 12 that are not worth the upgrade for me. Camera aside? No upgrade. I would go back to the 12 in a minute. Again, except for the camera.
@@iwill_859 Your eloquence, expertise, and enthusiasm lead you to misread, misunderstand, misstate. Of course that doesn't mean I'm not crazy. But I wasn't expecting an uninformative, unnecessary, and uninspired response. Though I suppose surprises are part of life.
Yeah, the 5x camera is the only thing that interest me. Though, the 24MP photos definitely look clearer. However, from watching and reading reviews, I think the main 1x camera needs to be better to fill the gap. The improvements in screen brightness and battery life are also nice, but I can manage without them.
My 12 pro survived falling down multiple times a month, falling down in the sea, and getting burned by boiling water, once I got over it with the car. It is as good as new except for a few tiny scratches not seen in everyday use. I'm still quite surprised considering every Samsung or Huawei dies after 2 years. Yes, I'm bad at keeping my phones safe, but the durability of this one amazes me. Guess there was a bit of luck. Thanks for the video. I'll wait for a new generation to see if it is worth the update.
I just upgraded from the 12 pro max to the 15 pro max. It feels new, and it is so smooth to use...it just seems a fraction speedier but to me that makes a difference. Maybe I should have waited for one or 2 generations more but there was an offer.
With iPhones it’s just little miniscule differences. It’s nice because people on a budget can still get most of the experiences buying previous gen’s. 🎉
Wow, first video of yours I've ever watched & I watched every second right till the end. Amazing video & just subbed. All the way from South Africa, thank you for a quality video.👏👏👏🙏🇿🇦
I have my action button Mac to a butt load of scripts, so when I hold it, my phone enters a very efficient battery mode. So I can go for two days on a single charge of moderate use and decent amount of photo since I am photo obsessed, or I can automatically switch right to normal mode. The best part is when I hold the action button, it only takes less than a second for it to switch between both modes and you can tell the difference. When you’re in the normal mode, you have all the things like the 120 screen thing and so on and when you switch it to battery mode, you can feel it get a little bit sluggish but then you realize you haven’t charged for two days.
The funny thing is, swap someone’s 12 Pro Max with a 15 pro max, or a 15 pro max with a 12 pro max without them knowing(and of course, physical aesthetics aside or put the shell from one on the other)…There will be VERY few people who’d know/notice the difference. 😂 This of course applies to Many things in life. This is why controlled variables and inherent bias is critical to the validity of the data collected when applying scientific methods.
Yessir; this is the exact reason why I’m going the 12 pro max route. Upgrading from an XS max 256gb. Just makes more economical sense to me lol. As long as I have a solid camera I’m good. All of these newer phones are the same when it comes to basic day to day use in my opinion.
The 2000 nit screen on the iPhone 15 Pro makes outdoor camera use much better. I also like the 48MP main camera and 24MP photos, providing more detail. The ability to convert photos to portrait mode is another nice feature, since I often forget to switch to portrait. Honestly, the titanium body and smoother edges makes no difference to me, since I always use a case. The small weight difference seems pretty negligible. The action button is also another positive, especially when mapped to open the camera. Jerry, as you noted, it’s hard to pass up a no cost upgrade if your carrier provides one, especially if you plan to stay with the same carrier. My carrier offers a “free” iPhone Pro 15, paid back over 36 months, with a trade in. That sweetens the deal, especially since I also need a new battery. Overall, iPhones have been really good for a while and each generation is just a minor update from the last. Taken over time, however, there has been steady progress, though nothing like what occurred with the switch to Apple silicon on Macs. I was really hoping for better battery life with the 3nm A17 Pro processor. I also hoped the 5X zoom would have been added to the non-Max model of the iPhone 15 Pro, since the form factor of the 15 Pro Max is too big for me. I tried a 6.7” iPhone a few generations back and switched back to the 6.1” size after using it for a year. Thanks for the comparison. In the end, these upgrades are a personal decision, and many people can probably skip the upgrade and just get a new battery, especially if their carrier trade-in deal is not too good.
as a 14 pro max owner, i can say this is definitely not true. It will get brighter for like ten seconds and then dim to a very dark and unreadable screen due to the intense heat generated by the sunrays hitting the phone
@@karlkrugen4317it’s really true 15 pro models and 14 pro models are almost same and 90% of users put covers on their phone so the design doesn’t disturbs and for performance it’s always the same which can’t be noticed in daily life and in gaming experience so the choice is one’s own and I think I should have get 14 instead of 15
I have an iPhone 12 and hear loads of influencers recommending to upgrade if you have an iPhone 12 or later and I say to my self if it doesn’t update to the latest iOS I won’t drop 1000 dollars on a new phone .
Well upgraded from X to iPhone 12proMax sept 2023.Well kinda happy with the 5G and 6.7 bigger screen and magsafe etc etc. well perhaps in another 3-4 years might get the 15pro max or pro.
I never get the newest phones since I tend to be hard on them so getting an older gen phone vs the latest and greatest is worth the bargain. Got the 12 pro for 311 but I’ll still keep dailying my a14 cause that thing is a tank for my daily use.
I absolutely donť care about cameras. I upgraded from 12 Pro to 15 Pro Max because of the screen. 2000 nits and 120Hz is brutal difference and absolutely worth it.. Everything else is a bonus for me. You canť compare this two devices.. Yes, you can still live with iP 12 Pro, it was great phone three years back, but the 15 pro (max) is like... wow... Huuuge difference...
on everyday use it dosent matters for 99 percent of people get cheaper iphone 13 pro or 14 pro which is on par with latest iphone 15 pro and save your hard earned money.
Personally, I think the iPhone pro 15 is a knock off because of the type C port and because of it not having any Sims I am running the iPhone 12 pro 128 meg memory best phone I’ve ever owned
Apple should only make two iPhones a year. A bigger one and a smaller one both of them the best they could be. If you want a cheaper, iPhone and get the one from the year before, is how it should be.
Jerry, I am thinking on get the upgrade from my iphone 12 to one 15 pro/pro max. As I pretend to stay with my new phone for 3 or 4 years, it make sense to invest in a Pro Max version that has a bigger storage (256 gb) and a bigger battery life. As the battery is bigger in the pro max, probably it will stay new for time, as it will complete less battery cycles
I am not someone who wants to waste time thinking about battery cycles. I will just use it and if it needs a new battery later, get it replaced. You have better things to worry about, probably.
@@JerrySchulze so do you reccomend me go with the Pro or Pro Max version? For as I am coming from iPhone 12 any of the Pro version will be a nice upgrade
I had a 12 pro or max and upgraded 15 max, my network is garbage now! I can’t watch RU-vid videos , twitch nothing! I even used an iPhone 6 for a month before I upgraded and that network was still very good. How is it we’re in 2024, better technology and now we have the worst network the iPhone has ever had? I’m so upset I didn’t look up reviews on this phone but I promise next upgrade I’m going back to Samsung after 10 years of iPhone. I can’t believe we spend thousands I’m on this phone to only have $200 phones with good networks while a $1,200 iPhone can’t even play a 240p video without stopping every 5 seconds.
9:32 I think ray tracing is gonna be terrible news for phone users, ray tracing destroys performance and would chug battery life, so I am looking forward for this feature to flop and developers to ignore ray tracing completely
hey can anyone please help me My 12PM has a battery health of 84% as of 3 years of use. So I m thinking instead of doing a battery swap within few months should I buy a 15PM ?? as i would get a better resale value as there is no notification of battery service required by apple is popping up ..
What about the Iphone 15 regular vs an Iphone 12 Pro. Is the camera still better on the 15 even though it doesn't have the 3 lenses? Verizon is offering a great upgrade option right now but wife really likes her current phone.
Me and my wife have 12 PMs. I recommended my mum to upgrade from an iPhone 11 to a 15 Plus. All the important things are better - screen, battery life, camera. However, they are still the same design and user experience. The 15 Plus is just a more refined 12PM. Ultimately I decided it was not really much of an upgrade.
In my testing - the iPhone 15 new 48MP camera, with digital zoom, can match the 2.5x zoom camera on the 12 Pro iPhones. Of course, without zoom it is better 1x camera and noticeably better in low light.
I Have a 12mini just bought a 15+. battery sux in the 12mini. always heats up and screen shuts down. Looking forward to better battery performance from my 15+.I'm a streamer and use it to hotspot my laptop. Those cut outs on the cover stink! They get caught on stuff and break off
dont buy a regular pro, I had the 12 pro and the battery was decent. I was with it like for a year until christmas where i gifted myself the 13 pro max.
Looking at this from a tradein POV, trade in on previous year model is the worse deal as the value usually go down by 40%, after that about 10% every year. On that base it is a good year to uograde fir Iphone 12 series owner,. Having said that I do feel there is some flaws with this years release, and loosing another 10% valuse isnt a big deal then one should way. I am on 13 Pro so happy to hold out for another year
