Excellent work, Danny! Two things worth mentioning: 1. HDR is improved across all cameras. 2. Light reflections are actually much improved in photo mode - in a way that they are still there but don't spill into the entire photo, ruining the quality. It might be worth a quick Instagram test.
Sometimes better, sometimes worse. Sometimes its just different - not better or worse than the 15. The post editing feature is nice. Seems hard for Apple to make any meaningful improvements anymore. Switched to S23 Ultra last year from iPhone.

Danny, great camera test...need your opinion, best to keep the camera setting at high efficiency or most compatible for best photo and social media upload?
The iPhone really needs to change the hardware of these cameras, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra to say an example, is way better in my opinion in terms of look and detail with the main camera, and let's not talk about the ultrawide... Also it seems like the iPhone is changing the white balance every year, one year is cold, the other one is warm, the next one is cold, it would be great if they can add a manual control for white balance, at least, this is supposed to be a "Pro" phone.
Warmer does not look better, i don't want everyone to be yellow base toned. Hilarious now that reviewers constantly hype the ability to edit after. Not what 99% are going to do. Also 16 pro is often too soft or lacks focus
Warmer in certain lighting conditions looks 100% better. Yes sometimes it doesn’t but not everything needs to look clinically blue because that’s not real life. Again you can adjust all this anyways so no need to argue preference. People are allowed to like what they want
Regardless , you can customize however you want. And the additional benefit on the 16 is that it can be set as a default before or after and it’s non destructive.
Hey Danny it’s the same sensor as the 14 pro max a Sony imx803. Coming from the 15 pro max, I feel like day shots got slightly better HDR on the 16 pro max, but at times it’s negligible. More like 15s pro max instead of 16.
I wonder if you used a filter because I really can’t see the difference between my 15PM and 16Pro. Ultra wide is even worse in low light and some reviewers show this. So what is happening. Update: I examined my photos again and it seems I used a warmer color style for the 15PM so that’s my mistake. The 16 does indeed make some warmer pictures. When pixel peeping I see some more aggressive noise reduction on the 16Pro which explains some loss in detail compared to the 15PM.
Off topic, but I didn’t know you were friends with Mark and Daniel (other RU-vidr reviewers) until this video when I saw all of you together! Is this the part where I say us Asians stick together? 😅🤝
I'm surprised Danny did not go into this at all. I have the 15PM and 16PM, and yes, the ultrawide takes WAY softer pictures. It's not even close. My wife took pics of our 3 year old the other day with the ultrawide and everything was so blurry it was unusable. I bought the 16PM just for the 'better' ultrawide.
I wonder if his little brother 16 have the same color profile. I know it's a weird request but if you can do a comparison it will be great. Much love ❤️

Hey danny i got the 16 PM 1TB hoping that i’d be able to record 120fps prores without external ssd. Is there a way to do that with the native app ?? I mean i could always use the black magic app, but still
I don't know why we have to always pixel-peep to find out the improvements, I'm not liking those warm tones tbh but yes the details and some big differences in some scenarios are good. The main upgrades I can see are the 4K 120FPS and the better Ultrawide.
In many years following tech I don't think I've ever needed to pixel peep so hard like I did in this comparison. And in many cases I still wasn't able to see a difference.
I am definitely choosing the 15PM over the 16PM, firstly i dont like how much warmer the 16PM is making the photos. Almost changing the natural image, 15PM does a much better job balancing and neutralising the tone which is in my opinion eye pleasing. Secondly man that new audio is terrible, i dont know why everybody is appreciating it. It blocks and tones down your voice so much that it almost looks unnantural. Unilke the 16PM, the 15 gives a better audio range and the natural sound that is good enough, i am very happy with the background noise until you make the godamnn voice sound like it was recorded while you were pooping in closed 2*2 washroom.
You have to keep the iPhone 16 Pro Max photos until after a year when a new iPhone is released and try taking pictures again with the same iPhone 16 and compare them because I think the company is deliberately weakening it so that the next iPhone will be more beautiful
Both the iPhone 15 pro max and the iPhone 16 pro max have garbage cameras day and night, just noise, even in video. The iPhone 16 pro max is not the best for me. The iPhone for taking photos is not the best.
you have a xiaomi video in your channel. garbage phone btw, their os clearly copied the ios and their camera needs a leica partnership just to compete to apple
