get android and test some raw in 30 or 60 fps, even raw video encoded on the fly to various codecs :) we have phones doing with 14 bit dcg raw video... ofc you have limitations.. no eletronic stabilization.. heating if encoding on the fly (GPU).. post processing needed and so on.. but quality is outstanding.. DSLR comparable.. and for sports.. to be able to shoot 30fps or 60fps raws almost unlimited is insane.. 120fps on some phones with buffer..

Yeah it looks pretty good. I would say it has slight loss in detail compared to shooting 24/30p but I didn’t show it in Apple Log. That’s where your mind will be blown. Working on a video cover ProRes Apple Log

There is not much difference. Almost every single phone has it's cameras the same this applies to Android phones not just iPhones. They have been making phones for years to make money no point buying the new models. I would love for your next video to be with Samsung again!!

Yeah I feel like phones have kind of peaked on the last couple years. Although I know a lot of the Chinese brands are still innovating. Phones we can’t get here in Canada

You need to try Vivo, xiaomi, HUAWEI, oppo. Camera can improve, apple,google & Samsung have just refused to use better lenses so they can milk this as long as possible

They just don't make phone attached to huge camera . Maybe google and Samsung will try it near future specially in none flagships lineup . Apple has big resale value,maybe that's why they don't try it yet . If there's isn't huge resale value who gonna buy it + Motorola doing some crazy stuff

RAW (not ProRAW) from Lightroom mobile or Halide is even more impressive. More details because there is no ugly denoise like in ProRAW and you can even improve the photo with AI Denoise in Lightroom - MUCH better than default ProRAW.

My opinion is that as long as they keep pushing hard on sharpening images from the iPhone, it will never look professional straight out of the camera. There are a lot of ways to fix it, but why not just fix it already in the software? The iPhone has the potential to take photos with a film look, by the way, like the Fuji X100, etc. I remember the iPhone 5 had an artistic look that has faded away over the years.

I’m really puzzled why the ultrawide camera doesn’t support the 24MP feature that the main 1x camera does. Unfortunately, I’m not skilled enough to work with RAW photos and fully take advantage of that 48mp mode. The 24MP is a nice improvement over the 12MP, and I really wish Apple had included that feature for the ultrawide lens as well

Looks good but Im not upgrading from my 15 PM until they finally put a real sensor in the telephoto camera. It's pathetic they are still using a 12mp sensor in a 2024 phone. Hopefully next year...

Yeah there is zero reason to upgrade from a 15PM. You would only gain slightly better battery life and 4k 120p (which I doubt many people will care about)

Yes, it is coming next year. But Apple also needs to improve the software of the 5X as they trail behind Samsung, who admittedly have a big head start. This should be prioritised.

Apple really underwhelming this year with no camera upgrades on the hardware side really. The main sensor didn’t get bigger. The ultrawide in my usage is softer and less bright in low light. I should have skipped the upgrade this year from the 15 Pro. Next year for the 17 Pro if they don’t have a larger main, ultrawide and tele sensor I’ll skip

There’s no point of shooting and comparing these photos during the daylight. You can get a decent quality on any iPhone in that conditions. Make side by side photo/video comparison in low light for iPhone 15 vs 16 pro. Since it makes no sense to jump from 15pro to 16 pro as well as from basic 15 to 16. iPhone 4s will do the same job especially it these pics will mostly be used for instagram.

There is a point because I can instantly see what I like and don’t like from the phone regardless of the light. I break these videos down into different videos, lowlight, day light, portrait mode, video etc

Also it would be nice to notice that most of the iPhone users will never see 48mp for their photos as it was announced, especially if it shot in 16:9 format. Too much marketing bullshit by Apple. I don’t even mention the quality of pics usinng amazing x5 zoom.

Because you get the full resolution in 4:3 if you shoot 16:9 you get a cropped image with less megapixels

currently using iphone 15 pro.. sended my jpegs taken with my phone to a lab and had them printed..10*15 and some 13*18...they were nowhere close to ones I shot with my fuji...yes they look awesome on phone screen..but dont look that good when printed out..might be something due to heif files...I can literally tell which prints were taken with iphone and camera..by the way my fuji is just an old xt3

There’s really not many settings you can change. I would just recommend keeping the exposure compensation at -0.7 or -1 when it’s bright out

Wait for the 17. You will get marginally better performance on all cameras going to the 16. The biggest upgrade is Apple log video if you shoot higher end video stuff then maybe it’s worth the upgrade to the 16. I haven’t shot that video about it yet though. Stay tuned

I have a question for you please . So let’s say you have a 13 pro and then get 16 pro would that mean the pictures on instagram come out better with the 16 pro? Or would the differences be negligible?( I don’t use zoom )

You will probably not notice it. If you had images side by side you could point out that the 16 pro looks better especially if you zoomed in on the image. 48mp vs 12mp

Living in the UK, this is the first time I have noticed this problem. Most of my photos need that exposure due to our gloomy weather most of the year. But on those rare sunny days, I will take note of the tip to dial down exposure, though I tend to favour higher exposure for landscapes.

Great review, im a portrait photographer and I have held onto my 13 pro. Was thinking to upgrade to the 16 Pro. But I think the 5x lens would be overkill. I I wish they kept the 3x lens. How do you find the 2x lens for your portraits? Are you getting 24 MP files in HEIC mode? I guess that would be one plus as I am only getting 12 MP files on my 13 pro.

Apple could’ve easily used iPhone 14 Pro 48MP sensor for this 16 Pro ultrawide… but no. Gotta give us that tiny little thing as always. The camera button is truly a gimmick so they can say there’s something actually new.

The camera button will likely be more useful when Visual Intelligence (Circle to Search) arrives as that is how you use that Apple Intelligence feature. As for using it for the camera, zoom and Photographic Style manipulation look its main user case especially if you are using one-handed.

The current upgrade supports an iPhone 6 years old, so seven years of support! Also, Apple is a US company that manufactures worldwide, including India. If you are doing the rounds, trolling Apple, maybe come up with something meaningful.
