iPhone 5/5c/5s: How to Fix "No Service" or "Searching" Issue 

I had no data, and my internet was only connected for literally the blink of an eye. I had this problem for months. The reset network settings, power off and remove SIM card for 3 seconds worked for me. Thanks, TRM, you saved me.

Tried all these before and it never worked, but i tried them in the order you did in the video and it fixed after the airplane mode step. Thanks mate

I have to agree with a previous comment, you sound a *lot* like Mark Ruffalo...which is totally appropriate because you are a frickin super hero. 4 days of No Service after a "Carrier Update" from Verizon and this finally got me up and running again. Thank you for taking the time to post such a helpful video, Paul, very much appreciated!! Knowing Verizon, I have a feeling I'll be back again somewhere down the road.

sometimes, my phone will just randomly restart. when it does, it goes from having service, to saying "searching" or "no service".

Guess what. some of that stuff must have worked for my 4s. I´m not kidding it always showed "searching". I thought i have to throw it away but now it works again. thanks mate

Popping the SIM card out and cleaning it with switch cleaner got mine working - thanks so much! :D

Fixing the time worked for me, I turned it off right after manually setting the time, date and year. Kudos from the Philippines! :)

Guys, I just did a software update on the Iphone 5s and it fixed the issue. Not sure when that update was released but my phone is working again!

This had to be caused by the latest update.. I delayed updating my phone for a few weeks with absolutely no issues, finally got around to just doing it, now my phone is constantly fluxing between service and No Service.

Thank you so much. I have had my 1phone5s for 2-3 year now, work great but this issue came up 3 days ago outa the blue. I called tracfone they had me turn ifone on -off, remove sim-replace. Then they informed me to go to call apple for apple store appointment. The apple operator was very nice and ran me thru some step over phone and then set up appointment with apple store near me. the next day at apple store an over tattooed employee sat me down on a barrel at told him the issue. The minute i told him it was a 5s his attitude was that the phone was "Obsolete" and he said that it was prob a hardware prob(He never touched the phone). Well duh, i dont have $1100 to spend on a new phone every year just because they add more camera lenses on a phone. Then the apple employee tried to sell me a 900$+ phone like im some rube. i was getting ready to call tracfone to buy a iphone6 or 6+ when i read something about antenna issues with the 6 and I looked up Utube and found this video on fixing my exact problem. And after following thru to ste 3 or 4 on turning "do not disturb" on/off it found my network!

My phone has been "searching.." for 1 week and step #1 worked for me, thank you so much!

IF YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND NOTHING IN THIS VIDEO WORKED, READ THIS: I could not get anything to work in this video short of updating to iOS 10. I didn't want to do that. So I turned on Pandora while on wifi (and had it set to keep the screen on), turned my brightness up all the way, turned on the flashlight, and turned the volume all the way up. I let my battery die flat dead, and when I plugged it in and let it restart, it was still searching for a minute then miraculously started working again. I have no idea if it worked or if my phone simply stopped having a tantrum, but if it worked for me, it's worth a try. Best of luck everyone!!!

Hello i just got a iphone se from my cousin who lives in US and when i try for europian sim like vodafon it just says searching, the old sim was verizon,should i format it will it lock my phone ?

My wife's iPhone 5s had a similar issue. Where it could not find our carrier with SIM card. So she took it back to them and they replaced the SIM card. Still did not find carrier. Well the next day her iPhone battery died from her just not charging it. Once we plugged it back in and it went though all the loading stuff. It was then able to find our carrier with in a few minutes. Hope this trick helps someone else out with this issue.

I smashed my current phone and had to revert to using a iPhone 5c from a 8+... thanks it actually worked when you said to try resetting the network settings :)

You could also be the kind of person who likes to throttle their data on the G network, and may be using 2G. 2G is getting phased out and may have been removed from your area, you need to go up to 3G now. I have always been on 2G, and spontaneously, yesterday I had no reception all day.. never had a signal. I toggled 3G and 4G and all my bars came back.

Tried all these but problem persists. Always 'Searching' for the network - I've discovered many thousands of people with an iphone 5 have exactly the same issue. Mine though unlocked and previously working with EE even displays the wrong carrier (vodafone) to that of the SIM in the Phone section in settings. My conclusion is that Apple have botched the software coding in the last update but why no fix. I bought a cheap £12.95 retro Nokia non-smart phone in which the same sim works perfectly in order to have a working phone

hey Dude ! How am I suppose to click on the PHONE then into SIM PIN ... if the first one is DISABLE (PHONE) because my phone has NO SERVICE.? yours in other hand has a Service that is why you can click on PHONE icon.

Thanks a bunch for ur troubleshooting tutorial which just helped me get my phone up and running again after having the no service error since arriving bk to the states last night. Even the carrier customer service was unable to assist me. However I hate the fact that i was not able to dislodge my sim card from my iphone which i tried unsuccessfully all day. Eventually one of ur 8 steps/options worked .Thank u soooo much that i ended up not having to go in to the store as rec by my carrier!!

Hi I solved this no service issue by: when I had it in aeroplane mode I went into the wifi settings and turned in my wifi.

What I did was - put another SIM card in my phone and turnt it off, turnt back on and switched the date/time from automatic….then put my original sim back in and it should work 😁
