I actually had all the gear (hotplate,wires,frames), failed miserably (dont ask me why, i fix MBP's and iphones all day long). Sold all of it and then a year later after watching your video actually banged out 4 with my hot air station and some cards. And only 1 had a burn spot. And even that one already has a home. Nearly made it, but separated the LCD from the backlight whilst doing the last bit, this is perfectly doable if you follow the instructions and take more time over it than I did!

A lot will say "just buy a complete screen with a LCD" Well there is tons out there that WILL NOT last long nor tough enough. This video is awesome thanks for sharing. I have a iPhone 5S that needs a new screen but I'm just gonna replace the hole LCD & glass. But will try to do this to my old one and have a extra one incase lol. Thanks

For those who don't have steady hands and have no patience, DO NOT TRY THIS. I fucked up the digitizer while removing the glass, I wasn't gentle enough, you're better off buying everything all together

yea I would recommend testing it out on a junk phone. the only trouble I've had was placing the new screen on and not getting bobbles in the glue. after 3 trys I ended up doing a great job. I need a better uv light

btw if your screen is completely full of cracks you can heat it and pry the peices off with your nails and not dissasemble anything (you must be extremely carefull to not crack lcd) after that remove glue with whatever solvent you have (i used gasoline on a q tip) but be carefull do not put to much on the edges of the lcd or it will seep through it. after that add glue and stick the screen on (since your lcd is still plugged in power on the phone before hardening the glue to see if there are uneven spots)

Thanks for the video. Looks quite easy when you do it compared to the hell I endured. I don't get how you got that screen so clean from the old glue. Folks he's right, don't do this unless you are ok with ruining your phone even more. And do not use any metal tools to remove glass or the old glue from the sensor. And do not put too much new glue. I had glue all over the place. And don't trust the tools provided in the cheap ebay kits, the screw drivers were crap. I guess I would get a kit with a mold if Ihad to do it again. But I will never do this again. I had to have the screen changed by a pro after trying this and the guy repairing it was like:wtf!!?? when he opened it up

I believe i would use a alcohol of two parts to one H2o mixture such that similar to deicer fluid used on car wind shields. The reason is to avoid and high concentrations of alcohol reaction with the plastics in the LCD \, it may eat it a little. nice video man.

You can use hair dryer instead of heat gun. LOT easier to handle the heat, and usually the adhesive start melting around 40-50celsius.

Hi and thanks for the video! I would like to know if I can install all the innards of an iPhone 5 into the case of an iPhone 5s. The iPhone 5 has a broken front glass and the case has lots of wear. The iPhone 5s has a clean almost new metal case and a real good front glass.

Thanks for the video, recently had this done but as I began to use the iphone found that there is a dead spot across the middle of the screen, not visible the touch seems to bounce, I can use the bottom half or the top half butgoing across the the middle causes bounce of the image. Is it possible that the LCD has a crack in it?

I've got the broken glass off, but the wider ribbon cable on the bottom has separated from the LCD except for a very narrow part, and when I try to put it back, there's nothing to keep it in place so it slips out again. Am I screwed ?

My cousins wouldn't even dissemble the phone he would put a razed blade between the glass and lcd heat it up with a hair dryer and use a playing card after he has enough space to Slip it in he doesn't put the clear glue because he brakes his screen to often but it works just as good with just adhesive Any Opinions

Jeffrey Nixon That LCD glue is the stuff that keeps the LOCA glue from entering into your backlight and causing the discoloration you see at the end of this video. (Some people suggest taking off your backlight completely... but ive never done it that way. ) So ya, if you really want to try this repair. (Which sucks) Youll need both glues.

That UV light should be enough. If you plan on doing a ton of repairs, than you should probably get a bigger one. But if you are going to just try it out, you should be ok. I dont have any videos on the LCD/back light sealer glue, but there might be a few other videos on RU-vid about that process.

Simon Thomsen Yes, some of the glue seeped inbetween the backlight and the lcd. Use the LCD sealer that I linked in the video description to avoid this discoloration.

Jerry, you do a remarkable job of ignoring these haters. I don't recall any of your videos "claiming" that you were an "expert"; only that you hope it helps others.
