How to replace the 5G UW antenna in your iPhone. Video includes approximate diode mode values for the connection so that you can make sure the antenna is properly installed before putting the logic board back into the housing.
I'm using 2UUL from Union Repair at the moment but note that the flux is only on the outside of the antenna connector. The pads underneath will still bond and I don't apply it there to prevent it from slipping around. I've used Mechanic 225, Kingbo, Amtech... all of them work just fine.
Not a fan of that connecter to solder. The iPhone 14 Pro Max Bluetooth antenna is soldered the same way and it’s a pain to fix if you accidentally add too much heat when fixing the back glass😅
You should still get 4G and in many cases 5G can still function. This antenna is strictly for millimeter wave 5G that you will find in crowded areas like airports.
Check settings>general>about and scroll down to modem firmware. There should be a version number there. If not, you have bigger problems, like a bad baseband pmic or some fractured solder joints. The 5G antenna only picks up UW frequency and should not prevent service altogether.
It’s pretty easy with the iron and anytime I can avoid heating the bottom board I do so because the components on the other side are very sensitive. Using hot air would radiate more to the other internals.
Hello had the soldering iron at 400 C didn't want to stick please what flux you use not on the outside of the pads but on the inside the small square ⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜⬜ Im doing this right now but the 5G Antenna Wont Stick the to the small boxes ⬜ please help
I have my soldering iron at 840 F so that might be why it was a little easier for me. The flux is only on the outside of the antenna as I found it too difficult to prevent it from sliding around when there was flux underneath. That said, I think that any decent SMD flux should work in this situation.
