My iPhone 5c does this only more horizontally than vertically. I found that pressing in certain areas helps but only temporarily and the more you do it the less it works. Haven't dropped it. Been like this since I got it.
I got the same problem, i just hold the selfie camera like people in the comments and then kept doing it every hour or so and a day later it fixed itself
+Jack Phillips Thank you so much, Jack. We were going crazy till I saw your comment and I just held the selfie front facing camera, and all is good again. Did you hear from anybody official what this is? Will it return? Sounds very iffy / temporary solution.
+Tal Givoly mine comes back every now and then, it's usually if it's been in my trouser pocket and I've been walking, I put it in my jacket pocket now. I'm not going to look at fixing it as my contract is up soon and I'll be going back to Android, this has put me off Apple phones.

Mine is doing this too! Taking it my carrier tomorrow to see if they can get me a new phone without it costing anything. I haven't dropped it or got it wet in the less than year I've had it. Frustrating.
same thing here. But t-mobile told me to fuck off since the year warranty expired and i didn't buy insurance (because i wasn't going to drop the thing like an idiot). Regardless, it's rendered useless as of right now. :/
My husbands phone started that today. The Verizon store said it "looked like he dropped it, too bad, can't do anything", and he didn't drop it, we've had out new phones for 11 days. I'm from Norway, and this kinda bad customer service would get you written up over there, but I guess the standards are different here in Texas....... He's going to the Apple store tomorrow, hope they can help him.
NO DO NOT RUB ON YOUR SCREEN IN ALL DIRECTIONS, THAT WILL ONLY MAKE IT WORSE,you will eventually have to take it to get the screen and LCD connectors replaced, or if you want to risk it< there is a video that show you how to take your phone apart and make sure the LCD cables are connected properly< there is a chance it came undone when you dropped it or banged it or something..
I think you need to open it up and check if your lcd wire is clip in properly if it is unclip it then clip it back get for loose wires that or not clipped properly the wires are black
I have something similar. Not as bad as yours, but getting there. I just made an appointment at the apple store for a repair. I hope they can repair it right because it's not doing it all the time. It seems to get better when I tap on the back of the phone.
***** Is yours flickering at the top and is it like white and then the touchscreen goes unresponsive? I have that problem and it seems to help when i tap the front or back of the phone were u able to get ur phone repaired?
My iPhone 5s did this. The screen flickered so bad, you couldn't see anything. After this, it overheated, and it wouldn't turn on. (Which I still havent been able to turn on again.) I decided I was done with it, and switched to a Galaxy. However, I'm re-living this, trying to see if there is anyway to bring my old phone back to life.
I work in a Apple Store and I highly recommend that you take it in and they will exchange it with a backup model for free before your apple care runs out.

+Tyler Watts, yes. I had to tap it too in order for it to let me use it. I was able to take it to the apple store and they replaced the screen for free. But as it turns out... The problem was not with the screen and I had to make a second trip the same week and they replaced the phone completely. (For free).
+natbolinger they replaced it because it was still between the one year factory warranty. Apple care plus only extends such warranty. If you purchased that phone less than a year ago, then go ahead and get it take it to the genius bar. They cannot and will not charge you anything.
my 6 does something very similar. it'll glitch out like this for a little bit and then go black, i have to hold down power button and home button for 5 seconds to bring it back on..... and even then sometimes it'll do it again. restarted it 5 times tonight just to get it back working.........

This just happened to my phone! I bought my iphone in the USA, where I am from, but I currently live in Madrid. I am now in Taiwan for vacation and I have no idea what to do!!! Does anyone have a solution??
I firmly tried pressing the camera area a few times and it returned back to a few minute then it started flickering again until it faded to black and the backlight only showed up ;-;
mine has the same problem. but sometimes it turn good by itself and i dont have an idea why. now, i know one solution that work: i knock it to the wall or desk and magically Its really work. i think, from main circuit to display not well connected...and it should easy to repair.
guys i have a question. at like near the end, the screen flickers amd theres nothing, does it look like a amintronic jumpscared you and after u will see the screen flicker?
ATTENTION! i had this problem and basically what i did was reset the phone and back it up to another version. sorry if i worded this wrong... well all we did was back up icloud and restore all of the memory and boom it boom as fixed! i hope this helped and if not just tell me to word it again 😂😂 ATTENTION
Press hard on camera area and eventually the colours will be brighter but the flickering might come back, press hard until flickering stops.. This is happening to me aswell, it's so annoying
that happened to my phone after i dropped it on tiles. I then got the screen fixed and now its not that bad but it still flickers every now and again. anyone? i know this is an old post but
Here is what is causing this. It happens on the 6/6S Plus as well. There is a chip on the opposite side of the logic board (the main circuit board on the iphone) called an IC. It controls the touch on the screen but also affects the screen display. Either due to manufacturing defect of people putting phone in their back pockets or dropping it or whatever, that IC chip's solder points come loose. As a result, the behaviour you see happens. The reason why pressing against the back of the phone near the camera lens (just below) works is because that is where the IC chip is. By pressing on the case, it is forcing contact again. This is only a temporary solution though. The way to fix the problem for good is resolder the IC chip back on the logic board. Others have made some sort of electrical tape fold and placed it above the IC chip and taped it down to keep consistent pressure and thereby contact. The biggest problem is removing the logic board to do all this. For those not familiar with electronics or taking apart a phone, it is fraught with risk. There are also many many microscopic screws of varying lengths and widths that you will need to track. Ultimately, each person will decide whether the risk and time spent is worth it to repair / temporarily fix a phone that is over 3+ years old.
Mine flickers like most of the time when i touch it but only top part of screen where top right corner the front of it is taken off a bit and this aluminum peice of paper is exposed? Maybe this is the reason what should I do? And can they repair my phone if part of the pieces came off? Because I got tons
To the video uploader, is ur problem solve? If it has been solved then how did u do that I m asking it because I m also facing the same problem. I m not able to use it since months i went to the service centre but they told that thats a hardware issue and u need to replace the phone please guide me how to get over this problem

Hey, so my phone was already cracked a little bit, then somebody dropped it again and it started doing this. Half the screen from the crack and down was black and I didn’t see the apps just lots of colourful lines. I couldn’t go into any of my apps either cause It just kept glitching. If I replaced the screen, would that fix the problem? PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER ME I AM DESPERATE! A SIMPLE “yes” OR “no” WOULD BE ENOUGH. ❤️
mine does something very similar. Took it to the apple store and they just replaced the phone. Updated to the latest ios and now it does it again. Phones been in a otter box since I have gotten it and has never been dropped.
