For some reason when I call people I can not talk and I also can’t hear what the other person is saying. Also when I plug in headphones it doesn’t detect it. When I open up siri it just doesn’t even let me try to speak it flat out just doesn’t work. Does anyone know how to fix this? Edit: My phone doesn’t work again sorry for not responding

My microphone is not working at all. Not in calls, not in videos, not in voice memos, and Siri isn’t picking up my voice either. Along with regular call, I have tried to use Google Hangouts and Snapchat call, both giving me the same result. During calls, I can’t be heard and I can’t here the person on the other end. Also, buttons like speaker, mic, etc. are greyed out for me to where I don’t even have the option to press them. Same with voice memos, I can’t press the record button because it is greyed out. I am so upset and concerned because most of what I use my phone for is calling. Anyone dealing with the same issue? Because I can’t find my problem anywhere.

BUT HERES THE THING THOUGH. It will not let me even talk to Siri… It will not even let me record a voice memos

Apple knows about this problem, but won't admit it. They want you to buy newest iPhone. They don't care about you or the environment. I paid $800 for this phone 2 years ago. It's a ridiculous amount of money for a phone which lasts for no more than 2 years. Something has to be done.

This is so frustrating. When I call I can’t hear them nor can they, when I record videos on any social media there’s no audio. But when I listen to music all of them work I can hear it from all the speakers. I can’t use the voice memo since it doesn’t let me press it and when I’m on a call I can’t put it on speaker because it’s greyd out

Mine says no audio devices found on voice memo

My voice memos won’t work, neither will my calls work unless I reset my phone or FaceTime. I even tried to tune my guitar with an app and it kept saying “error” when trying to use the mic to match the tunes

Not sure which tip did the trick but it now works...thanks! I first disabled the mic for one random app then I disabled the noise cancellation. It started working so I restarted and then turned noise cancellation back on...still works. Thanks again

I thought it was just the calling and then I tested my Camera roll audio and nothing worked. I’m kind of getting mad

For all of you having the problem where people would barely hear you i had the same prob and fixed it by turning the noise cancelation off and not allowing some apps to use my mic so something of those 2 fixed it

Wow thanks for this video! It worked. I turned off noise cancelation and also blew on the mic on my phone. Restarted my phone and now the mic works!

It's the selfie mic on the back of the phone. Siri and the video camera recording app uses the selfie mic. The dictation/voice recorder uses the mic on the bottom of the phone. A can of compressed air will usually fix the issue or replace the cable leading to the selfie mic (just under the screen). It's a problem in iPhone 6 and up to the iPhone 7. When recording video you will hear a hissing sound at playback, this denotes something obstructing the selfie mic, possible some moisture or dirt, thus preventing the mic from picking up sound.

With iphone 7,7Plus it is hardware problem. Slow boot, no speaker, no audio device found on voice memo.

If there is no Noise Cancellation option shown in Settings, General, Accessibility, then turn on Hearing Aid Compatibility. It should give you a message about not being able to use both at the same time. Then reboot. Go back into the settings and see if the Noise Cancellation option is there. If so, make sure it’s off. Try a voice memo or calling someone now. This worked for me.

I have the iPhone 7+ and I’ve never had microphone issues cause a soon as I bought the phone I immediately went to the settings and turn off phone noise cancelling and restarted my phone and it’s never stopped working

My microphone works on voice memo and on the camera app. But when I’m on the phone/FaceTime/facetime audio, the other person on the line can’t hear me. Also when I take videos on Snapchat you can hear a little bit of my voice but almost in a muffled way. I have tried resetting my phone back to factory settings etc. ( as well as taken off my phone case )I now have to use my earphones mic whenever I answer a call just for the other line to hear me properly. What do i do???

The iPhone 7/7+ audio has 3 microphones and they are used differently (e.g. Siri uses the microphone on the back next to the rear facing camera and Voice Memos uses the one on the bottom of the phone). This video makes no mention of that and is of limited use in helping people debug or understand audio problems.

This is usually caused on iPhone 7's due to the Audio IC board failing after multiple drops/thuds. Basically the chip inside phone comes loose after vibration & you microphone isn't being detected anymore.

If your able play songs and hear it then your device is fine Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options can you tell me does it say Voice & Data next to Enable LTE.

voice memo, siri, and youtube (rear facing camera) all pick up audio for me. However, my iphone 6s camera app, when in rear facing mode, will not pick up audio. it's extremely muffled. Weird it works fine on youtube, but not anything else.

Im having problems with Siri, memo, calls, and videos. If I want to use my mic I have to turn off my phone and turn it back on. It only works one time, like if I want to call someone I can only do it once and afterwards it won’t work. If you guys have any suggestions that will help plz tell me.

Ok so for anyone who's having a problem with the mic, look at the bottom of your phone and check out the left "speaker" (it's a mic) I just cleaned the bottom of it and it was filled with GUNK. You may be having a problem with that. So get a needle and just scoop out the dirt in circular motions. It should be good as new when you're done :D

Guys i solve this! All you have to do is connect to your itunes and do "restore mode". It means u delete all of your IPhone and whole system. Then you sign in to the icloud! I did it and my phone works!

Guys!!! if your phone is not fixed by whats in the video it means you have to either repair your phone or buy a new one (i prefer backing up your data on a laptop then resetting your phone and selling it and then buy a new phone and restore your data. thats so you won't be bothered by glitches that will be caused dou to the repairing)

my phone just randomly did this one day. it just wouldn’t detect headphones, and i restarted it and it takes long times to boot up, and the microphone won’t pick up my voice. if i take a video talking in my camera roll there’s no sound period, and if i use an app like snapchat or voice memos or even facetiming someone its a lot of static into the phone. is there a solution? i’ve already factory reset the phone and it still does this.
