Thumb drive date is 2010 12 30 @ 8:40. It will be a miracle to find a replacement. Though, since this person has 1 old drive, they may have two. Data on it can be dumped to another storage device and they can ship you the now sacrificial working thumb drive One last thought. Since the drive is old but in very good shape, it is likely it was used for a brief period and stored safely. The owner may have been using a computer with a different operating system and/or exotic file types that to Win 11 looks like nothing recognizable. Therefore, the drive is unrecognized. This happens with files generated by win 7 before the 3rd update and earlier. This is particularly true for spreadsheet and image files created during Vista. Interestingly, win 2000 and early XP files generally lead to no problems with system recognition.
If you intend to keep any remotely important data on a flash drive, memory card etc, _always buy 2 at once, in identical pairs._ This way, in case you need recovery, you have an identical donor.
You can take a picture of the item from both sides and send them to the customers e-mail in front of him/her to prove the dents were there the day he or she brings it to the shop....
As time consuming as it is, I think all repair videos should be recorded. It gives evidence of problems you encounter before disasssembly and covers your ass plus makes for good education. Or maybe a sort of printable page where you can take photos of the item front/rear/inside to attach to the work document so it can be filed for future use
It is really bad now a days.... like you said "we have learned to test everything in front of the costumer" I stoped repairing stuff for other people, since two years just because they have always complains about things they where before.... i just buy broken electronics from people i trust, fix them and sell them ! It is sad, but the people want it that way

If the USB controller chip is kaput, do you have to get an _identical_ Flash Drive to get the controller from, or just one that users the sane flash memory chip?
I wouldn’t touch that iPhone that was send for no touch issue because it also have a no charge issue also missing parts until I talk the customer Specially now that you opened the phone without talking to the customer, sometime customer will blame the tech with “the phone was in perfect condition”
there are many ways to protect your computer to connect a usb, even if someone sent a usb killer there are protections for that, I am very sure he is aware of that.
@@luisardox not really. Yes you can set you machine to not auto launch for USB or auto execute, but a USB killer is basically unstoppable. When you plug in a device it is given power. Period. Now most modern mobos will cut power if an over draw or overvolt is detected but the way those work they generally fill their caps slow enough the mobos don't detect them.
does anybody know what the solder strips or whatever they are at the top of the board in shots around 20:17??? surely theyre not heat syncs.. n the antennas obviously the big wound obvious copper thing.. lol i cant believe they havent come out with more efficient more available ones but thats besides the point.. wth r those solder strips for i canNot figure it out the coatings already coming off that board its not goin to last much longer, when u tested it with the meter it confirmed it it really should got lacquer or epoxy to protect them otherwise theyre goin to corrode n theyre goin to have to pay u to fix it again.. ...... ooooooooo .....
That's for factory programming and testing. Only used in the production cycle. You would see marks on them if they were being used as contacts like samuel suggested.
A: verify continuity from wires of a female ended USB cable to the destination on the thumb drive. Sometimes the pines break inside the connector plastic, sometimes the traces break right at the edge of the solder, and sometimes the pins aren't making good enough contact. B: yes, actually, you can buy that chip. Less than a min on Google and I found the datasheet, eBay Alibaba and AliExpress links to purchase it, on delivering within a week. And C: both xbox's in the begging were one X's, not a one s and one x. Not trying to be rude I just want to offer advice for people using this as a tutorial.
