These repairs are designed for at home I don’t expect people to buy an expensive device to copy the True Tone data. Most people just buy the cheapest aftermarket screen. So it’s kind of pointless. But yeah if you’re buying an Apple screen you shouldn’t be even doing this yourself. So to eliminate confusion I don’t show that type of work on these videos.
Wow...he took the very low road/unprofessional by not replacing the adhesive gasket seal. "it's not very water resistant anyway". WHAT! Moisture, dirt, etc. Every phone owner wants to have as much protection as possible regardless if your lazy and don't want to put the effort it. Can you imagine your doctor saying "oh well he has heart disease anyway so we aren't going to unclog this artery"!! Do the right thing. Don't be lazy.
All seals are bad once the phone screen is revealed. You going to go with a mechanic that takes your water pump off and says he didn't replace you seal cuz it looked ok. Seals don't work that way my friend.
Did you know that all the seals all around the phone start wearing out after a year. That’s why I don’t make it a priority. Because you would have to replace every seal on the entire phone. Original seal is good enough to keep dust and dirt out. And if I notice a bunch of dirt in the phone I cleaned it out and reseal it.
For the amount of $ investment for all these parts and tools, a bit of which I already have (ifixit); it'd be less stressful and no doubt less expensive to just drop mine off at one of these repair shops. And to worry you might screw something up in the process, no thanks.
