iPhone 11 vs Panasonic LX100 4K vs Dolby On IOS app
Is your iPhone now good enough at filming video that you can leave your digital camera at home? How does the Panasonic Lumix LX100 hold up against the iPhone? Does the Dolby On IOS app on iPhone really make a difference to the quality of your footage?
Like a lot of people, I've been wondering if it's worth carrying around compact cameras like the LX100 for video footage. So I created this video as a side by side test.
The footage on this video starts off a bit poorly because I used the old Sony HDR-CX115E camcorder that I have rigged up as a webcam for Zoom. I won't bother in future, it looks terrible compared to the iPhone!
The biggest drawback of the LX100 shooting 4K is that it will only shoot for 15 minutes at a time, whereas the iPhone 11 will film for a long time. I've shot entire live events using my iPhone as a backup / B roll camera and it has performed brilliantly.
As a part of this test I also compared the footage and sound from the Dolby On IOS app to see not only what the sound quality is like, but also whether the footage is any good.
I didn't mention it in the video but it would appear the Dolby On app does not shoot 4K. I had to upscale the footage while editing in Adobe Premiere.
I'm an SEO professional and originally made this video for my LinkedIn profile, so there's a bonus bit of SEO info at the end of the video.
Finally, I mentioned that I was filming in Landseer Park in Ipswich, I was in fact in Gippeswick Park in Ipswich!
